Malen has been the best player so far with 1 goal, 1 assist, 1 pre-assist, 1 yellow for his direct opponent and his direct opponent being subbed out after 19 minutes. 

Moukoko practically invisible so far, Adeyemi with not much to show for except his goal, which was rather lucky.

Placed a few long term bets this morning. One of them is Leverkusen to win the Bundesliga. I should have waited a bit 😅

Out of the top of my head, in 2001/02 Borussia Dortmund lost in the first round of the Pokal vs Wolfsburg 2. 😭 In the end, they won the Bundesliga and reached the final of the UEFA-Cup. Didn't Frankfurt lose in the first round last year as well? Next Saturday, we'll see where both the BVB and Leverkusen stand right now.

Haller needing chemo is pretty tough! Fortunately for him, his chances for complete recovery are very good, but for the BVB the question now really presents itself whether or not to pick up another banger up front:

Newest rumour: Fantasy legend Anthony Modeste. 

It's tough to say. On one hand, I don't like picking up a mediocre player and putting him in the starting lineup. Modeste may work in Köln, but I don't see him having success with the BVB. On the other hand, Moukoko as the only forward in the middle is also not really working right now.

Tough to say again. It all depends on the system we're playing and whether or not certain players stay healthy:

4-2-3-1. Then there's exactly one spot for Brandt: Playing directly behind our centre forward. Problem: This is Marco Reus' spot. Also, once Gio Reyna comes back, he could very well be ahead of Brandt as well.

3-4-3. Again, there's exactly one spot for Brandt: Playing in central midfield next to Bellingham, having the security of one additional defender behind him to cover his mistakes. Problem: We don't have the personell to play 3-4-3 over the course of a whole season and Bellingham/Dahoud could play the 8 as well.

However with one injury (Reus) or the decision to replace a forward (Moukoko) with a defender (Hummels), Brandt would be playing regularily.

That means Hummels moves back into the starting lineup and we're staying in a 4-2-3-1.

Alternatively, in my opinion, there's also the chance for a 4-3-3 if Moukoko is being put on the bench next Saturday:

               Brandt      Bellingham

Adeyemi         Reus              Malen     

And just like that, Brandt would be starting again.

Simeone as a Haller replacement. Well, there is reason he was bad or unconvincing in Fiorentina and Cagliari and the reason is he is very inconsistent. He has patches when look like really solid player [never weltklasse] but also a lot of very quiet games when he literally cant sniff the ball. Link up play rather weak, average technique [not that forward need to be gifted there] but he is quite strong, have good shot and fast. He was never mentioned this year with big clubs and now i read Juve also wants him. 

He had ok last season cause of Verona was build by Juric biggest serie A star 😜 Place Piatek in the place of Simeone and he would have the same season 😂  I feel Verona was still playing Juricball last season cause Tudor was bad almost everywhere and somehow it clicked when he replaced Juric. I dont buy it! 🥳

• If we add another forward, it's going to be a tall banger. Simeone is listed at 1,81.
• If we add another forward, it's going to be a cheap stop-gap. Simeone is signed until 2026 and his two latest transfer fees were 12 and 13 M Euro.

Also, do you guys remember Max Eberl? The GM behind Gladbach's rise over the past decade (and fall over the past 2 years) who decided to call it quits half a year ago. His reasoning was that he was hating the football business and how he cannot continue anymore due to health reasons. Fair enough, he has enough money, so spending time with his family, getting healthy, maybe relax and travel a little is well deserved.

Frankfurt looking good yesterday, this should be a fun game to watch on friday when our beloved Bundesliga returns with Bayern-Frankfurt. On Saturday we then have the clash of the matchday with BVB-Leverkusen as the late game on Saturday! 

I'm smelling a Goretzka to Bayern situation here. Bayern paid Fiete Arp 5 M a year after scoring 2 goals in the Buli for the HSV, Moukoko has a much better resume. It's not like that Moukoko offers much current value to the team, however seeing him leave for nothing would still hurt...

If Leipzig get Werner and he will find his juju again [20goals?] i think they could be scary. One problem though. I dont see Tedesco having balls to become a champion. This guy is totally vanilla and has zero charisma. I dont see him forcing a will to win in this team. If system will work they will have good patches of results but when something brake he will not find the answers, just like with Schalke or just now in supercup [Bayern could have easily scored a 8]. So i dont know Bayer already with big falstart in pokal or just maybe this is a blessing cause there will be less matches later. Its worrying though cause they played with full squad. With great Bayern signings [even if De Light signing looks like a surplus you cant deny he is borderline weltklasse player] this looks more and more they will win another easy meisterschaft. Lets hope someone from Bayer/BVB/RB will keep up till the 25 spieltag.

Seen Frankfurt game and they def looked interesting. Its only Magdeburg but still some nice flowing football there. Dane Lindstroem seem like he could have a breakout season.

I really liked how Götze played. Well, well, well, where was he when he milked the BVB for 3,5 out of 4 years in his second stint? Also always nice to see Knauff starting opposite Kostic. Well, well, well, thanks for nothing Coach Rose you blind bum! 🤬 Let's see what kind of role Knauff will play once he returns to the BVB in 2023. Terzic started him in the UCL QF vs Shitty so that could get interesting. 

Newest info out there is that Simeone is cold (as I told you, his transfer doesn't make sense), now Bild is reporting that it's back to Cavani.

Modeste is also not realistic in my opinion as he seems to be looking for a multi-year deal, Köln cannot provide. No way we're signing a boomer like him for more than 12 months and also paying a transfer fee as well. 

Let's say RB buys @Stubbe-Unibet's favourite player Timo Werner, what happens then with Andre Silva???

But yeah, it's not exactly a buyers' market for forwards right now. Luka Jovic would have been nice.

Well, Bundesliga-bros, today we'll start the new season! Probably the best one since 18/19. Unfortunately, this will also be my last season here on the community.

3 great matches to start the first 2 matchdays with Frankfurt-Bayern today, BVB-Leverkusen tomorrow and BVB-Freiburg next Friday! 

What to look out for this year? There are 4 really strong teams:

Bayern, BVB, Red Bull and Leverkusen!

Leverkusen kept their team together and added Hlozek. However they already had a young, hot and deep team. Wirtz is still out with his ACL but they're really strong. Of course, Leverkusen is still Leverkusen, so their aspirations to win the league could be as short lived as Brocky's community comeback! 😆 Especially if they get beaten up in Dortmund this Saturday.

Red Bull mostly kept their team together and added Schlager and Raum. They're still sitting on 40 M Euro net plus this transfer window, but this might change if they pick up Timo Werner from Chelsea. The funniest transfer they made? In 2021, they signed Brian Brobbey from Ajax for free. He didn't work out, so they loaned him back to Ajax in the winter and now finally sold him back to them for 16 M Euro! 💸 Not bad.

Bayern lost Lewy and Süle, but spent 140 M Euro so far adding Mane, de Ligt, Mazraoui, Gravenberch and Tel.

The BVB of course had the best transfer phase of all the top teams: Haller, Özcan, Süle, Schlotterbeck and Adeyemi. Also with Coach Terzic, we finally don't have a double agent working against us anymore for the first time in 5 years. Problem is that Haller, Özcan and Süle all are dealing with injuries so far. Especially Haller who'll be out for a long time.

Frankfurt who won the EuroLeague are also looking good.

In the basement, the Smurfs are back.

They'll stay for a year and then it's back to their natural habitat, playing Sandhausen and Heidenheim. 🤣

Let's see how BVB-Leverkusen turns out tomorrow. These games are usually great to watch and the loser of this match will defnitely feel the heat early on! Also, the BVB will likely sign the stop-gap for Haller next week. Hopefully, it's not Modeste...
