The community poker league is back - and this time with a massive boost to the added value! We're sending two community members to the Unibet Open in Bucharest! Buyin is still €5 and you can win tickets in the €0.05 qualifiers.
This time we're finishing off the league with 4 PKO tournaments on the last Saturday, making the total number of tournaments 34. As usual, there's both the unique leaderboard avatar (this time the summer shark) as well as the avatar for tournament winners. Worth keeping in mind the summer community leagues are typically the ones with least players participating, so you should have an even better shot at the leaderboard and Bucharest!

For chat during tournaments, head over to Discord: https://discord.gg/mKrgJxDH6P.

Remember to play with your community alias, in order to qualify for leaderboard points and the potential "The Double Jackpot".

Schedule

Buyin is €5 in every tournament with one re-entry being allowed. All tournaments - including the qualifier flips - will be password protected. Passwords are just below the schedule in this post.

I like this league format promo and would like to participate but the only feedback I have is that it's not ideal to have tournaments take place on a Friday and/or Saturday night. Tend to personally keep those times for non-poker related activities like socialising and spending time with the mrs...

The days are based on an old vote, so it should be the ones fitting the community the best. But I hear what you're saying. Problem is we need at least 30 tournaments for this kind of league, so there's a bit of a skill aspect - using the tournament € payouts makes it quite a high volatility format.
Then we can run more tournaments each day or run the league for longer. The latter is not great, as it's already quite a lot with 4 weeks. 3-4 tournaments per day is the only real alternative, and then only running the league on week days. Problem with that solution is that I want to keep it really casual friendly and multi-tabling 4 tables is far from that, so we'd need to have the first game start around 18:00 CEST and last one 21:00, which isn't great for people with kids.

Curious to hear what others think.

NB this league schedule won't be changed, but could change it for future ones.

I suppose it depends on how you see the League, I look at it as a Virtual Hang Out with the Boys/Girls, so to me the schedule looks good, especially the later starting hours to Fit the Summer Season and it's not a big deal if I miss a couple of the MTTs. 🍻

I suppose there isn't a format that will fit everyone's needs and wants and such is life, after all.  One thing to consider is to have the leaderboard work slightly differently, in order to give the people that can't play as many tournaments a chance of participating.

For example, I take part in a weekly pub league, every Tuesday. Each league lasts 13 weeks (quarter of the year), and points are given out based on the final table finishing positions - 100 for 1st, 80 for 2nd, 70 for 3rd, 60 for 4th etc.  There are normally 25 or so runners, so about 1/3 chance of FTing, and getting points.

The way that the league in question works is that it takes into account the best 10 results of the league, from the 13. So you could technically miss 3 weeks of the 13 and still be with the same chance to cash in the league as someone who goes every week.

In that sense, something that could be done is a league format with a minimum amount of tournaments played (say 20), and points being attributed based on the finishing position / field or the euros earned in the tournaments.

Just my two cents on the format, will try to squeeze in as many tournaments as possible for it.

@marto already sort of works like that with the percentage of players paid and the top-heavy payout structure 🙂 You should obviously always play all games in any league, for greatest chance at leaderboard prizes, but you can easily miss a few games and still win the whole thing.

I don't really like this option, because planning a personal schedule and playing all the tournaments is also part of the skill. If you want to have more EV - devote more of your time and resources to it, this applies to both poker and any other activity.
Moreover, the latest community leagues have enough tournaments that you can afford to miss one game day per week and still have a chance for ITM in the leaderboard.

6 tables, YouTube, rail chat - easy 😎

So if I had to choose, I'd probably go with more load per game day, but fewer days than the other way around. Although such a format of the league as it is now personally suits me completely.

  • 2 weeks later...

@BodhiLummox

If you are Dutch, you need to opt-in through the poll you find from the opening post of this thread. If you are not Dutch, then there's no need to do anything. Just remember to play with a poker alias that's matching your community alias.

Good luck on the league 🙂👍

Not that the prizes aren't great, but for some troglodytes  as me, playing live isn't so tempting.

I may be known that I'm not a massive mtt fan but a series like this is tempting me. Two tourneys per evening, four evenings per week, for four weeks so no overload there for a 1 or 2 tables at a time plodder like me. Maybe smaller guarantees than in Winter but I'm fairly sure that there'll be overlay, and with 2 UB open packages to Bucharest on offer for the overall top 2 ( my ambitions probably don't quite aspire to placing that high) even more added value. The only possible slight quibble is that with 34 tourneys at €5 each (plus possible rebuys ) the price of €170 may be beyond some members. Of course we don't have to play them all but I think I will do so, a pretty good reason to use some BP's. Disclaimer: I am planning to stream them as well, so playing is all part of that, good luck everybody and have fun.

If the goal is 1-2 places, then you have to play everything and not spare money for an additional bullet (re-entry), otherwise there are very few chances. This season will be an incredible fight.

How do I change my community alias to my Unibet name (BarryMadeTea)? I'm in obvs

Can't change it by yourself. Is playing as BarryCarter out of question?

If so, then maybe @Jami-Unibet could assist with changing the community alias.... 🤔
