Profit: the final frontier.

What a start! 😡

Apart from the results a small apology is in order, I made a mistake by including 2 non-handicap races, only handicaps from now on. This is partly my mind set trying to keep all conditions and selections as similar as possible so a true comparison between results can be made. 🙄

Almost back in front again but not quite.

No selections today for a couple of reasons, Sundays being usually the quietest day with poorer quality racing apart from the occasional high profile meeting, fewer good horses and less choice. I've been guilty in the past of adding one or two extra selections to make up the numbers, but of course none of them win, 🙄 so no more.

It's not a great start but not a disaster, only four winners from 27 but decentish prices only leading to a small loss of £2.72, level stakes would have lost £6.92 so that's a minor bright spot.

Tracking prices race to race led to beating the S.P. for the winners by 2.5 points, another minor bright spot but quite time consuming. I've noticed that quite a few selections shorten in price from the early morning show, so I'm thinking of just backing each days choices with the same stake and leaving them to get on with it and reassessing day to day. I'll watch that more carefully this week, still bet race to race for now, but make a decision sometime soon. (Poker is now taking up a bit more time.  🤔

Happy punting everyone. 🏇

A catching up day yesterday. A long losing run bumping around at less than break even  finally broken at the 33rd in the series, Bucephalus, 10th winner. 😄

I made a mistake but for a change I was on the right side of it. I'd already backed it but coming back 2 hours later to watch the race thought I hadn't so bet it again, then saw the "Open Bets (2)" notice. 🤣

Of course I'm only counting it once, the 2nd is a bonus.

Another couple of winners yesterday.

Race 52 brought the 13th winner, a 25% strike rate,  and actually would have taken level stakes £0.77 into profit, so just staying in front. The prices are averaging out at 3/1, keeping up with level stakes with the help of BOG and UniBoost providing an extra 4 1/2 points better than S.P. 😄

Averaging just about 4 races per day I expect that to increase slightly over the summer, so far heading for maybe 1,500 races over the year, probably a good test.

Happy Punting. 🏇

Just managing to stay ahead with six winners from the last fourteen.

Up to race fifty six, fourteen winners, 25% strike rate. Level stakes would be 1.10 units profit, so pretty even, beating S.P. on the winners by 4.50 points, a small but significant help.

Loads of racing today, including at Cartmel, the prettiest course in the UK, but only used over bank holiday weekends, one that so far I've not managed to get to.

Only one from six yesterday, another six today, the last three while the community tourney's on. Maybe time to pressurise me while screen juggling. 🤹‍♂️

Two good winners yesterday. The first, Croeso Cymraeg, opened at 10/3 then drifted alarmingly in the 5 minutes before the off, out to 8/1 before nibbling in to 7/1, I took 15/2. Out the back most of the way, ridden patiently then coming with a late burst. 🙂 Just shows the horses don't know what price they are. Biggest price winner so far. 😮

Seventeen from sixty six and now 7.85 points ahead of level stakes. 🏇

Being so active in the Duckbet competiton our Betting Product Manager has decided to give you a little hint about horse names like Sonic Thunder and their finishing positions.

Sonic Thunder vs. Brian the Snail

I think this is a very interesting study what says horse name doesn't affect the real speed of the horses albeit people more often betting on them if a name suggests quickness.🤔
