new regulations in germany

Crabtel

Recommended Posts

Hi Unibet,

I read the new German regulation and I wrote a letter to a representative of the Bavarian parliament as in Germany the Federal States are responsible for the regulation.

She wrote to the responsible minister Mr. Herrmann and explicitely mentioned that "Unibet" stopped the freerolls to ensure compliance with the new regulation.

The responsible minister answered that freerolls won`t be forbidden at all, as long as the other requirements are met.

If you are interested, I will send/mail you the two letters, that you are able to discuss that with your lawyers? You don`t need to exclude German players from freerolls and so on. Other pokerrooms which follow also the new rules like Pokerstars, GGPokers kept the promotions and freerolls.

I think you will completely loose the German market, when you interprete that too conservative.

Best
Wolfgang

At this point I can't comment further on the German legislation. An official statement will be issued at some point.

I think it's fair to say that if they go ahead and approve the suggested new turnover tax on poker, then it's going to have significant implications and it could ultimately mean it won't be offered in Germany anymore.

NB the suggested tax rate is 5.3%, which is more than the rake we charge on many games.

The hearing regarding the new law takes place next Monday at 10 AM.

And Unibet's lobbyists have put in a formal complaint:

https://www.egba.eu/news-post/egba-submits-eu-state-aid-complaint-over-german-online-poker-tax/

“We have previously made our concerns about the tax proposal known to the German authorities but to no avail and they will now need to justify the measure under EU law. We appreciate the efforts made in recent years towards introducing a new online gambling regulation in the country and recognise that an appropriate tax will need to be paid by online gambling operators. However, the rate of the proposed tax is punitively high and will distort market competition and directly benefit Germany’s land-based gambling establishments over their online counterparts. We call on German politicians to rethink the proposed tax rate and bring it closer in line with the tax rate applied to online casino products in other EU countries.” – Maarten Haijer, Secretary General, EGBA.

The writing was on the wall, but still, it's a little bit sad.

@Stubbe-Unibet, when are you closing the access to the Unibetcommunity? On July 1st as well?

Even though the community slowed down over the past few months/years, I''m going to still miss it somehow.

Not being able to post about the upcoming 2023 Schalke 04 player hunt...

Or the BVB's return to glory....

But yeah, hooray for a regulated gambling market! 👍🇩🇪

As long as you can sign in on the site, you should be able to use the community as well 🙂

I'm not sure if the closure will mean a login block right away or its just all transactions/games which are blocked.

Thanks for the answer @Stubbe-Unibet, but this is just a matter of time, so the players from Germany can withdraw their remaining funds, isn't it? Similar to Belarus for instance?

Sad to read this Mr. @WuDu. Maybe it's time to move to the Netherlands. Remote work is not a big deal nowadays.

"Kindred Group has been granted a gambling licence by the Netherlands Gambling Authority. The licence is an important part of Kindred’s strategy to operate in locally licenced markets and follows an extensive application process including successful completion of relevant audits. Kindred’s flagship brand Unibet will launch its Unibet.nl site in the coming days and a Capital Markets Day will be hosted on 14 September."

@psrquack

Well, to me the USP of Unibet Germany has always been the Poker product. Betting was always a "side product" to me and since betting on politics has been disabled for Germans for almost 2 years now, I haven't bet much at all. I have never played slots, casino games or bingo in my life and probably never will.

Like I mentioned, when Unibet removed Poker for Germans, that one hurt, however I'm pretty content with the new Poker home I found. Every room has advantages and disadvantages and when I look at it strictly from my perspective, I have to admit that the new site is beating Unibet. I still miss playing the Asteroid and Fireball, though...

When you compare betting to poker, I feel that the different betting products are not as unique as the poker products. With Poker, the player pool, the type of games being offered, the structure of the respective games is so different from site to site, that there's really an impact on your playing experience. But with betting? BVB -0,5 is still BVB -0,5 whether you play at Unibet, bet563, Mountain Top Sports or bet-on-the-road. Of course, the respective companies would like to tell us something different, but if we're honest, most betting products look very similar.

I toyed with the idea of taking some of my poker profit to start a bankroll and get back into more "serious" betting once I succesfully completed some trial runs "on paper". However then I would probably take the agent-route instead of playing at a mainstream company again.

You play at ps , right? They have community too, maybe we should get some action there with new/old threads from here to keep conversation going and wait how long it takes before they ban us 😆

PS. honestly if you are planning to make bets and/or getting some juice for promos, this is the last place to do it. And this is without dissing anyone or being upset about anything. They made wrong executive desicions at some point or in fact made the right ones but gave them objectives to suck customers dry with "fun play" moral posing image.

This is the latest "funny" thing i've seen https://fi.unibet.com/promotions/sportsbook-promotions/unibet-25-cash-drop

They give the winners sumptous 25 hrs to dereem their prices from bonus section. You Know how many players are here and do they log in everyday for looking for something that they don't even are aware off??? But i guess it suits unibet well. Moral posing with fun play and great promos without need to pay anyone anything. Imo just sick, bevaviour that we can expect from leftists 🤮

The draw dates are mentioned in the promotion page, as are the requirements to be involved in the draw in the first place. You don't need to randomly log in to figure out if you've won, but by latest 25 hours after the draw date. And it's 25 hours due to the nature of the campaign, it's Unibet 25 Years, giving away €25 000 monthly.

How can this be a negative thing?

If customer wins something, why does (s)he still have to do something afterwards?

So you just can't deliver money to customers accout, thing that you can do as i have received money straight to account without going through bonus... or it is totally standard that bonuses are valid for 30 days but that thing can't be used in this thing?

Where does that 25 hours start? From moment that raffle is done or standard within 72 hours after raffle that is used for crediting prices?

Could it be fact that every 1k unclaimed is pure win for unibet? Yeah i know. "we are so big company that we wouldn't do such thing, those are peanuts for us"  or "why would we do promos that we wouldn't want to give away.... Dunno, you tell me why you constantly set shady or unwritten rules to promos that customer has to be fortune teller to see or contact cs several times to get some information off?

Yeah i know, it must be company policy to claim customers as nuts or nazis or what not when you don't have answers but i don't get what part of my questions were just for arqument sake and not real questions?

Was it that price money can't be delivered to customers account?

Or that claiming time couldn't be longer?

Or how should customer know when the 25 hour claiming time begins?

Like i wrote at one night which stubbe so gracefully then deleted, ain't going to repeat them, check your backlog and think if you are too deep in unibet's a-hole. I see potential in you so my advice would be to not sell your souls to fat fucks who wants to own you ;)

This is how the promotion is supposed to be, it's a 25 year celebration, it's meant to be there for 25 hours.

15 minutes ago, Livertool said:

It could be and it could be left there, but the promotion is not meant to be that way. It's something you have to accept within 25 hours.

16 minutes ago, Livertool said:

It could, it could be to any pre-determined time but since it's Unibet 25 promotion it's 25 hours.

16 minutes ago, Livertool said:

This will be 25 hours since it's been added to your account. I will get you further details of the time of the draw and actual crediting but the date is 25th.

17 minutes ago, Livertool said:

Go back and read your messages, you are arguing just for arguments sake not only on this matter but most of them.

I still don't understand how you perceive this as negative? We are giving away €25,000 monthly until the end of the year as a celebration, the fact that you need to claim it within 25 hours is part of the promotion and it's not like we're going to credit some old dormant accounts that have not been visited in years. The rules are quite clear, in order to be in this draw you have to wager 5€ during a certain time period (which in this case is 15.6-24.6) so we are not trying to hide the money somewhere just to not pay it out.

2 hours ago, Livertool said:

And even this would be a zero sum game, if it doesn't get claimed.

You must realize the fact that we are a business looking to make profit, and promotions are a tool in our arsenal designed to give us something in return.

And I'm not trying to say we are flawless but what I am saying is that you're taking it out on the wrong guy here, I'm doing my best to make sure I get you the best value there is to get just for being a member and I'm doing my best to try to make the Community the number 1 place to be even if there's no extra value to be gained.

And congratulations, you are the first one who actually managed to get under my skin. 😛

There's a place for bookies like Unibet. However if you want to bet seriously (setting up a model, testing it), betting 1x2, AHC -0,5 or o/u 2,5 in major leagues like the Bundesliga, EPL or Veikkausliiga, then agents are the way to go. Especially if you're located in Germany.

Promos, giveaways, combo boosts, free bets don't grow on trees, they're financed through smaller odds. Again, I'm not promoting different business models or talking trash, different players have different needs.

Yeah, that's what I find funny about UB as well. Russian leagues like the KHL, VTB United or their PL have been taken out of UB's betting offers. Shouldn't that be up to the customers to decide if they want to continue betting on these games? B-b-b-b-but Russia invaded Ukraine, we as a company don't want to make profit off of "dirty" leagues. Fair enough. Problem is, at the same time they're offering bets on the WC in Qatar. Maybe their social justice diversity hire should do a quick research on what Qatar did in Syria and where their weapons and money went to...Or maybe, the WC is much more important to the company then some fringe leagues in Russia...🤔

Its like everything is trying to pi s s me off nowadays 🤬. Football, family, neighbours, fookin war not ending, betting, sprained my ankle and cant even run, cant win freakin hand in poker [cash is killin me right now] and now this. Wheres some good news im asking? 🤪

After all those acrobatics with Germans allowed to play only MTTs [correct me if im wrong they were allowed to play MTT not SNG or cash tables] now the Unibet just says, its enough, lets just fook off and close the business. Given the history of your company what should have been credited when told, are 100% sure that this will be the date? Every day customer logs in they find inaccurate shit. Tried for your pleasure:

NO, you don't et freebet for placing 10€ bet with min 3 odds but you must place it to bet builder. And you don't get freebet but betbuilder bet, thing that i told to your cs which they apologized and told that they make better but instead they made it worse when at least last offer said that you have to make bet builder in order to get freebet.

Oopsi, I have focused how you could stay here and skiped your gambling habits and poker needs. Btw around Eupen in Belgium would be also good for you, but it seems staying is a better decision.

I always have an issue when you're forced to schedule your day to day activities around your poker activities (when playing MTTs e.g.) instead of the other way round. I think, that's not a healthy way of living. Moving countries to follow a poker room would take that to a whole 'nother level. 😀

Like I mentioned before, I'm pretty happy at the competition right now. Sports betting is not on the horizon for now (maybe in early 2023 after the WC with the summer leagues starting again), but then I would do so with an agent and their multi-bookie tools. So Unibet leaving Germany right now basically means no more community posting only, once they close all the German accounts. Unless of course, @Stubbe-Unibet comes up with a solution for people to log in without a UB account. #bringback0lucky

The problem was the 5,3 % tax, the German government implemented for poker, making SNGs at Unibet unplayable for them. Still wondering how much money they blew sponsoring Gladbach AND Red Bull last season, only to say bye bye a few weeks later.

Yeah, out of the past 6 Bundesliga seasons (since the start of the community, maybe the 18/19 one, where Dortmund blew that 8 point lead, was really exciting. But next year?

  • Bayern maybe imploding
  • BVB maybe exploding
  • Leverkusen staying together
  • Red Bull getting stronger
  • Schalke fighting relegation

So much to write about and maybe we could have even trolled Stubbe into travelling to Gelsenkirchen next spring to hunt talk some sense into the players...😁
