As you might have heard through the grapevine already, we're about to hit the reset button on the MTT schedule! We've designed a new schedule from scratch, which we believe is more in-line with current demand and trends, and we'll be celebrating it with our biggest-ever MTT promotion with €100,000 up for grabs in leaderboard rewards! We'll of course also celebrate it with you guys on here, but before we dive into the community launch promotion, let's have a look at just how awesome the new schedule is 🙂

  • We've SIGNIFICANTLY increased the guarantees. Today, our biggest daily tournament has a guarantee of 4k. In the new schedule, we've got a daily 4k, a 5k, a 6k and a 10k! We'll adjust the guarantees in the coming months and I hope you'll help us make these grow even bigger.
  • We've lowered the fees and are now offering the cheapest tournaments in the industry: today, you won't find daily tournaments with lower fee elsewhere (benchmarked against our main competitors daily schedule - see the details in the terms and conditions at the bottom). As an example, all our bounty tournaments now have just 4.5%-4.8% fee, while most competitors charge twice as much!
  • Being a site targeted recreational players, we understand that you most likely need to get up early in the morning for your nine-to-five. We aim to have all our daily majors finish by 1am CET/CEST, so that you can still get a good nights sleep, even when you take down the biggest tournament of the night.
  • More bounties and less addon. We have historically been one of the sites - if not the site - with the highest share of addon tournaments, and we know that some of you will not appreciate this change. However, addon is a flawed format which puts the recreational players at a further disadvantage, as it's unfortunately quite common for players not to realize the value in taking the addon. It's also a format which encourages players to max late reg, and generally speaking it just doesn't make for a nice tournament experience for the inexperienced player. Again, I know these downsides are actual positives to some of you, and we will continue to offer the format, it's just not one we'll push unknowing players into by highlighting the tournaments and making them the biggest ones we offer.

There're plenty of new tournaments I feel it's worth highlighting here, but it would make it a very long post, so I'll just pick a few and encourage you to go and explore the schedule yourself, when all the tournaments are in the client closer to the 24th! You'll already find a tease for the new schedule in the client.

  • The Title Fight. A daily €10,000 guarantee PKO with €50 buyin
  • The Ironman. A daily €2,500 guarantee deepstack with €10 buyin
  • The Slobberknocker. A Thursday exclusive €7,500 guarantee bounty tournament with a €100 buyin
  • Fight Club. A cousin of the Supernova, exclusively running on Sundays. It's got a €10,000 guarantee and €100 buyin.

We'd of course love to hear your thoughts on the new schedule, so don't be shy with the feedback in this thread! I would however encourage you to give the new schedule a shot first, before you give your feedback - change isn't always easy at first  🙂

Community Promotion

Weekly Freeroll

Every Monday at 20:00 we'll run an exclusive €1,000 community freeroll, for which you'll need a ticket to play. In order to receive the freeroll ticket, you'll need to fulfil both of the requirements below.

Terms and conditions

  • Customers from Sweden, Belgium and Denmark can not take part in this promotion
  • The promotion starts the 24th October 2022 and ends 5th December 2022
  • Tickets will be credited weekly; every Monday before 17:00 CET. First tickets credited on the 31st of October.
  • The weekly freeroll will have a prizepool of €1,000 (paid in tickets for the new schedule)
  • Lowest fee details. A benchmark was done the 1st of October against Partypoker, Pokerstars, GG Poker and 888 Poker. We looked at all daily tournaments which had been running at least 30 times in the past. The fees were segmented based on tournament format (freezeout, addon, PKO etc.), tournament speed and buyin level and an average for each format, per site, was determined. We have lowered the fees on all of our tournaments to at least match the competitor with the lowest fee for every format, speed and buyin level combination. We are still running all nano tournaments completely rake free.
    • Satellites/Qualifiers, On-Demand and flip tournaments are not price matched
    • When segmenting by speed, we've used the following definitions:
      • “Hyper” is defined as a tournament with a blind level increase time of 3-4 minutes
      • “Turbo” is defined as a tournament with a blind level increase time of 5-6 minutes
      • “Regular” is defined as a tournament with a blind level increase of 7 or more minutes
  • We reserve the right to change the promotion at any time
  • We reserve the right to exclude customers and/or delete their posts, if the post can be considered spam or adds no value to the thread
  • General Unibet terms and conditions apply

Awesome changes, I like all of them! 1 am CET is still pretty late for some, maybe you could add a few big hyper speed or early bird tournaments that end at 23:00 CET for example? I support having more bounty, omaha and hyper tourneys (and less ones with an addon) 👍

Played 3 or more Major MTT's, in the previous week

What is a major MTT?

When do these changes come into effect?

The tournaments are not forced to finish around 1am, we just made sure the run time would not be too long, so some will finish before then and there are quicker filler MTTs throughout the evening.

24th Oct for the start of the new schedule. Qualifiers for the €10k €50 buy-in PKO start today.

I guess all the red ones in the lobby - when you apply the "major" filter that's what shows (with one exception: 20:05 CET €750 Abyss) - but let's have @Stubbe-Unibet confirm.

Yes, the major filter will work. There'll also be a sub-menu under Tournaments for similar filtering.

@CuteRaven I agree 1am CET is late in for instance Finland and Romania, due to different time zone, but it's a compromise. We can't make everything turbo 🙂

Also, this is if you finish top 2 in the tournament, which won't happen that often. Unfortunately, you'll probably be done way before that in most cases 😉

Qualify to this beauty:

With community bubble protection. Next three days only (including Thursday, till midnight), you can claim your buyin back (as a ticket), when you bubble a qualifier (flips EXCLUDED) to the Title Fight. You'll need to post the tournament ID in this thread.

Interesting reading (both this and the banzai update thread). Obviously we don't have all the details yet but I will throw in some thoughts:

1) Slobberknocker is the greatest tournament name ever. Suggest all comps have similar names now eg. Tallywhacker.

2) Agree about the addons. IMO its often used by sites / apps or live cardrooms to try and rope players in to buying in for more and raking more. Basically they have people buy in to a 50 comp that actually turns out to be 100 because the addon is massive value and almost mandatory (eg. pay another 50 for 2/3/4/5/10 more starting stacks).

3) I would add in how much the BI is to the target tournament in these satty descriptions so people can see it in the lobby. When its a new comp nobody has a clue what the target BI is.

4) Agree about finishing at a sensible time for Euro timezones when rec players have work the next day. Seems good.

5) I'm also gonna welcome lower rake, its ESPECIALLY important in turbos and hypers. People playing eg. 90+10 comps that are hypers are gonna find it unbelievably hard to beat rake even if you are very very good. If I just wanted to donate to the house I would go play roulette.

6) WRT Banzai, running games 5 vs 6 handed is whatever, no strong opinion either way.

7) I'm not sure why there are table caps for certain games eg Banzai. I assumed this was to try and push higher volume players into higher rake 100bb cash games and not have them mass multitable Banzai, though this could be completely wrong. When there are promos to encourage more volume this seems counter intuitive, if Unibet wants to have people putting in more volume then removing the table cap seems logical.

8 ) WRT higher rake on banzai: we are going to disagree on this 🙂 Increasing prominence in the lobby / giving it different graphics is cool, pity that this costs 2.5x rake for a new table layout skin xD. I do really rate the different graphics, the special table layouts for the daily specials are beautiful and also make it much clear which table is what when one is multitabling. 10/10. For rec players the higher rake is somewhat of a double-whammy.  They pay 2.5x rake plus promos could lead to more grinders putting in time to get the rewards which makes the games worse. The rec player who puts in 3h a week of banzai is generally drawing dead to win anything from banzai promos so it ends up being a transfer from low volume recs to high volume regs. FWIW I don't think I have ever heard of a game having the rake increase by 150% in my life, that is gargantuan. I have seen situations where changes in the format / rake leads to games simply not running, because there is a tipping point at which regular players (both winners and losers) just think the game is a rake trap and simply quit and play something else somewhere else. There are obviously some clueless players who have no idea what the rake even is but if nobody is willing to start games then it doesn't matter because the clueless guys won't have anyone to play against. I'm not saying that nobody will play banzai anymore but I think regs (including those who are net depositors) are likely to be much much more selective about the games they play leading to fewer games running. Higher rake really discourages reg battling and encourages people to game select much more aggressively. This will 100% happen with the higher rake. To limit this I would have it graduated eg. keep it 1% while its HU or 3 handed, or have a sensible rake cap, or something like that.

9) I like the community freeroll, community giveaways are always great. Bit confused though, I was told that the 'PLIIZ' avatar was my personal one based on the selfie I sent you, IDK why you letting other people use it.

10) Unrelated question: Any chance of a Unibet Open in London in 2023? I would really like to go to one but I have multiple physical disabilities meaning travelling outside the UK is extremely difficult for me. London has multiple lovely poker rooms (also Aspers) and plenty of poker players so it seems like a decent shout for Unibet.

Thanks for some great and thorough feedback! I'd like to try and keep this thread about the MTT changes, so if you want me to comment on the Banzai stuff in detail, please comment in the relevant thread or make a new one 🙂 Some super quick comments:

It's not 2.5 rake increase on Banzai. It's a rake increase to afford promos. We're still - by far - the ones with lowest rake for the format. We've of course verified that grinders would still be making a decent profit and confident that the games will run 🙂

UO London. No news about 2023 yet. I personally think London is unlikely as players generally don't love this stop.

Do we gonna have some mtts under 5 euro buy ins in this new mtt schedule ?

Absolutely! They're just not considered "majors" so not part of the initial reveal. You'll see them all during the day on the 23rd as they start to enter the schedule.

LB details?

@_YoKai_ I can disclose a few more details. We'll be running weekly leaderboards of €10,000, for 10 weeks.

There'll be three levels:

  • High (€25-€100): €6000
  • Low (€5-€10): €2500
  • Overall: €1500 (winner takes all, as mentioned earlier)

The leaderboard value is better than during UOS and I wouldn't be surprised if the overlay is greater as well 🙂
