Unibet Live

Apologies of this has been asked before. I did have a look through forum.

I have a €250 Unibet Open ticket that expires soon. It’s been sitting in my account for months as I am a casual player and don’t really have time for a 3 hour tournament.

I noticed that it has now been renamed Unibet Live and the only tournament available for use is in Tallinn.

1) Is Unibet Live a new thing? I haven’t spotted anything about it anywhere.
2) Is there likely to be anything else to use it on before end of March?

3) If I did play and win a ticket to the Tallinn tournament would it be exchangeable in any way?

Thanks

I don't know if this is another bad description of terms or loophole but as i understand t&c, you can get package turned into poker points just with saying you got covid and can't go? I doubt they Unibet has right to demand medical certificate as proof?

  • If you win a seat/package to an event and do not attend it, you will lose the value of the seat/package unless one of the following conditions occurs:
  • The event is cancelled before the advertised start date
  • Travel restrictions in the winner’s location or the event location change between the date/time a seat/package is won and the start date of the event meaning travel is not possible
  • Winners contract COVID-19, or have any other medical issues, that mean they are unable to attend the event.
  • If any of the above conditions occur:
  • Package winners will be able to move packages to another live event of equal or lower value. Any difference in value will be paid out in cash. Winners can also have their packages converted to bonus points.
  • Seat winners will be able to move their seat to another live event of equal value or have their seat(s) converted to bonus points
  • If the event is cancelled during the advertised dates then refunds will be issued as per the terms and conditions of the live event organizer.
  • Unused seats will be refunded in bonus points after the completion of the specific event.

I can double check with legal but I don't see how us asking for proof of a positive test is any different from a restaurant or airline asking for a vaccine passport or the event organiser asking to see a negative test before allowing registration.

Thanks for that. Really useful and appreciate the reply.

Although I now appear to be stuck with a €250 ticket I can’t realistically use given there is no way will manage to get to Tallinn or Malta. 🙄

you can probably keep the ticket for a while and maybe even get it extended until you see a satty for an event you want to play

This is correct. The tickets already have 6 months validity on them and there will be other live events to qualify to throughout the year. You can request an extension if the expiry date is getting close.

Better to do that before you are in shit storm again. Once you realize that i'm right (again), i work for bonuspoints which you can credit according how much money and workhours you saved for not needing to resolve issues later 😉

I'm not an expert but to me difference is that restaurants or airlines don't ask positive test results but act with legislation provided either country or EU. Test results are personal health information which is something that i don't think unibet or any other company is entitled.

As per the vaccines thread, I complete discredit your information 😉

LOL. I dare you.

To be honest it would be about time that i'm wrong with something but i don't see this is it. Funny how far just common sense can take you 😄

But anyways, about covid restrictions of papc, where can information be found? Tried this https://www.firstlandofpoker.com/en/papc/ but didn't find any. Estonia goverment has their instructions, do they apply for papc as they stand without any special requirements?

Assuming the Covid-situation will keep getting better and Putin doesn't blow up the whole world, would it be totally unthinkable to still keep having an online tournament during an UOS, maybe like once a year, where an UO/Unibet Live ticket could be used for an entry? 🤔

There's a lot of people, like the OP here and myself, that like to grind the UO satellite tree, but don't really have interest or intention to enter a live event 😕

I would be surpriced if uos end totally but uo package should be worth money even if you don't want go yourself. Travel money for sure and i assume you can "give away" rest of package to someone for exchange of money or deep purple records 😄 What do unibet care who sits at table, filled seat is better than empty. At least other sites used to allow selling packages...

Unlike poker coaching voucher, uo package is actually worth of it's value 🙂

UOS will continue (dates for next one already announced in latest release notes). Just the 1.1k event which won't be live. I get why you guys would want both a live and online UO style sat tree. It's great value. But great value = great cost for us. At the moment we can't justify running two. An alternative would be to run one sat tree, where players have complete freedom, but that's not doable as long as Unibet Open doesn't return and the live tickets are for various different live tournaments of different value. Once UO returns I guess it's an option, but I have my doubts in regards to feasibility and we'd want to send as many players to UO live - regardless of how you look at it, merging live and online sat tree would mean less players qualifying for live.

Check the latest poker release notes. Have a look at our poker promotions

When I won my Unibet Open tickets, it was held online, so i supposed I can use them for an online event. 1.1k ticket name still  "Unibet Open Online" also. As soon as sats changed for Unibet Live I stopped play them. So I hope there will be an online where we can use our tickets.🙈

Maybe something for you to consider, you do what you want to do or offer what customers want to play?

I don't play satellites (or at all here anymore while we are at it) but to me live or online are equally good (depending ofc how second class citizen like me can travel or join events when i'm not needle cushion 😛 ) Reading between lines, if/when majority wants to play online, why push live events so hard?

Players with €1,100 UO tickets will be contacted shortly with options to exchange their tickets for alternatives.

To be honest it’s not that I wouldn’t attend a live event it’s just that with family commitments I need quite a bit of notice.

Have asked about Extending and someone is looking into for me.

Oh, didn't mean to put words into your mouth. Apologies for that 😳

Glad it's being looked into and hopefully you will bink a seat to an event that's more suitable timewise 🙂👍

Legal said we don't have any systems in place for handling sensitive data like medical records so they asked us to not ask for the information.

Unfortunately, this now means we've had to update the T&Cs and we'll have to punish any player that can't attend an event for any reason in order to ensure there is no potential abuse.

We really appreciate you bringing this to our attention and I'm sure players with legitimate health issues that arise leading up to an event will thank you that they will now lose their packages because you wanted to angle shoot for some bonus points 🙂

And cs just keeps improving. Instead of thanking for bringing up error(s) in your t&c and helping to avoid lot of confusion, complaints and work, you turn blame on me for your shitty work. Class acts 🤣

I did thank you, you just cut that bit out your quote for some reason.

We tried to give players flexibility in uncertain times and you wanted to exploit it for personal gain. The only "shitty work" done was believing that players would follow the T&Cs in good faith and not try to exploit them. A little naive on my part but I'm ever the optimist 🙂

There would have been no additional work caused by the old T&Cs, the question to legal would have just been raised further down the line -if- a winning player had an issue with it. Only a handful of players win live packages for each stop and the issue arising where they can't attend, specifically for a medical reason, is a very small % or maybe doesn't happen at all. The only extra work caused by this was re-writing a few lines in the T&Cs. I've spent more time writing posts in this thread 🙂

Not sure why the T&Cs annoyed you so much in the first place, you don't even play the Unibet Live qualifiers...

That was genuine thank you with running your mouth later in sentence? Gimme a break.

WTF do i gain for t&c being right? Who benefits is Unibet and customers for less cs contacts.

You really have blue eyes, don't you? If you leave loophole in rules, you don't think that some try don't try to take advantage of them and when it backfires for you asking health information that they can't or are not willing to give and you not permitted to ask, we can expect lot of contacts and complaints. I guess that is not so big problem for you or those that try to exploit knowingly but big pain in the arse for those that can't join live event for sickness yet don't want to share their health information around Europe and online casinos. Ever heard of GDPR?

Not annoyed, pissed off for constant bad t&c you got and that is the reason don't play your products. I've been playing papc qualifiers elsewhere where staff knows what they are doing 😉 Maybe one day you'll get your shit together again...

I never said we were not allowed to ask for it, just that because we don't have systems in place to store it so we were requested not to ask for it.

We wouldn't need to share anything with any other party. "This player cannot attend the event for medical reasons" is what the event organiser or casino would receive. Done enough GDPR training to know that's not breaking any rules 🙂
