Play decent poker at 200nl

Hey guys, how's it going. Hope you're all well. Pretty cool things are starting to open back up over here in the UK, coffee shops, bars and casinos!

I want to  play some live poker in the future, but it's been a while since I played and I can't even remember my standard opening ranges.

So... I've decided to try to play some good poker at 200nl while also learning some ranges. As I haven't played much 200nl before, I'm just  going to one table it.

Starting Bankroll   756   (I just  deposited £650) because if I was playing live and one tabling I'd usually turn up with about 3 and a half stacks.

So let's see how this goes.

I also just invested in primed mind (some mindset coaching from Elliot Roe which is an App in android/ios app store), and just listened to the cash game hypnosys, so here goes!

Will update after this session to let you know how it went. Then fairly regularly going forwards.

I like this. For me looking at a table first gives more confidence, wish I could watch big the cashgames haha . Any fish?

Yes there are fish for sure!

Today unfortunately I was on of them. Moved up to 400nl after losing a stack at 200nl.

Lost a stack at 400nl. Going to take a time out, that type of behaviour is not the way to play winning poker. So going to withdraw the 350 euros left, and consider next steps 🙂

But to answer your question, yes I saw a fish yesterday 1 tabling, there are fish for sure at 200nl 🙂

@SkilfulPokerI'm a bit of a Degen myself but not to sound too pessimistic on the one hand, it's good for the ecosystem that there are still people that jump into 200nl and give away money, on the other hand, you can't really beat those stakes if you don't even know what to open, it's possible to go on a Sun Run but eventually, you will lose it all because everyone will have more experience than you and at those stakes there are more REG's than REC's. Also, the fact you did cash out it's a good indicator you know it too at least at a subconscious level. You should take some time off and set your priorities straight especially now with the live poker opening up it can spiral out of control and you can find yourself in a bit of a pickle. Also, you got a lovely voice, why not do YouTube/Twitch?

  • 1 year later...

Hey guys long time going pretty good on Unibet at the moment with some exceptions lol.

The good part is I won £7,000 sports betting and withdrew it! This was a few weeks back, but given my hours have recently been slashed at work (employer struggling) was very nice, and is my second biggest win on Unibet.

Unfortunately my account has been flagged for verification as i bet £3,000 in one day. I think it's good that Unibet take player protection seriously but now I can't even deposit to play poker until the powers that be decide I'm not betting beyond my means.

So for the time being - I'm going to be charting my progress playing live poker at 200nl, and update after every weekend! currently doing some work in central london in a virtually empty shared office. Best decision I ever made renting some shared office space. This place has air con and if you get in early enough you get your pick of the desks! Plus there's coffee and water on tap. What more could you ask for. 😀

I'm up and down with my attempts to give up alcohol completely. I had 8 months of no drinking which ended about a month ago. Alot has happened since my last blog updates. I flew to Albania for an AirBnB holiday and enjoyed it so much and made friends with the host, that I was going to live there... I was in process of applying for residency until my dad had heart problems (rushed into hospital) and I had to fly back the same day! Worrying for us, but he came through it with some stents in his heart and is doing well now and back to his old self 🙂

As a result though I'm back in the UK and need to sort out my medium term plans, when he was seriously ill i felt really guilty for moving to Albania and not being close in the months before, but I think I just got to strike some kind of balance between seeing my elderly parents regularly and actually living my own life also.

Plan for this weekend is to play live poker 200nl, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Will update along the way how it goes.

I'm back on the wagon, so it'll be an alcohol free weekend which I'm looking forward to.

Hope you're all doing great, and look forward to catching up with your own lifes / journies. i had planned to sat into into Malta for the Septemeber event but as i can't deposit at the moment those plans are on hold. Depending on how live poker goes and when my deposit restriction is lifted I might try and satelite in yet. it would be good to meet some of the faces from the community at last, as I've never been to a live unibet event!

By the way if any regulars of the community are in central London give me a shout what be good to meet up for lunch sometime.

Have a great weekend!

hey guys feeling a bit tired today, but haven't eaten which may be why, got some pasta on the way, it's 4.45pm if my energy levels perk up i'll head to casino tonight, I really don't want to have just played one night over the whole weekend!

the family emergency i mentioned was my dad, he had to go to AnE as was unwell - he's on the mend though - which is great and I went to see him today for Fathers day, and took my mum, my little brother is up there now (well just left).  Good news is looking like he should be home Monday/Tuesday in good health. 🙂

@P0kerM0nkshared a cute picture of his little dog in his thread, so i thought maybe our dogs could be friends 😂

here's our family dog that usually sleeps under my bed whenever I'm at the family home, he grew up with me, so we're kinda close ☺️

This is him rolling around the floor happy after he's just been walked 🙂

Hey guys managed to get a session in tonight I’m using primed mind by Elliot Roe to get me in right mindset it’s helping a lot.

I like live poker the social contact and banter is nice.

Managed to buy in for £200 and walk out with £440 so that’s a nice session profit of £240.

Brings total profit so far to:

£760

i haven’t been deducting the transport costs that’s about £10 per visit so will deduct £20 for the two sessions played so far which brings profit to :

£740

nice start! 🤘🙌

Hey guys just finished work for the day going to freshen up and head down to casino. So will be getting third session of this challenge in. Just got to wait for phone to charge its 17:28 at the moment so I guess I’ll get there for about 8pm and probably play until 3am 🤪

So far sessions have gone well but it’s like you’re entering a gladiator arena every time you sit down even if you do still have fun, one wrong move, one tilted bluff and you can very easily be a number of buyins down before you know it! So I’m taking nothing for granted.

So I’m writing this post to also remind to review MasterClass video before I play and also listen to Elliot Roe app on way down, just hope I don’t miss my stop on train as Eliot’s app is hypnosis 😂

I’m planning to take a break for something to eat about 1am so will update how going then , and again on way home 🏡 🙂

Hey decided against playing tonight and ended up watching Manhunt on Netflix about UnaBomber I already seen it a while ago but forget it.

Reason I decided against playing tonight is I don’t think I would have had time to properly review MasterClass material and also get there chilled and relaxed, would have been a bit more rushed. I’m pleased with this because it shows i got complete control over my sessions when I play.

I bought a new tablet instead also tonight. The one I’m watching unabomber on is nice but it’s a bit big to use for taking notes. I gave my dad my other one , s7 plus, when he was in hospital so he had something to watch and let him keep it when he came home. So I just replaced it with s8 plus arriving tomorrow will be using that to take notes on tomorrow from master class, so now I can watch the content on larger tablet without having to lug laptop about.

I think money is a funny thing I barely spent any lately really and as soon as I do tonight I feel some kind of scarcity but what’s the point of working for money if you’re afraid to spend it on things that will improve your day to day living.

I also spent £70 on year subscription to Eliot Roe primed mind tonight as my trial ran out.

For next 5 days I’m going to try to play each night will update when have something worth reporting again!

hope you’re all having a good week at the tables (or away from them if you’re not playing!)

Really pleased with how that went tonight despite a big blunder calling a 3bet with AJs then calling low flop, check/check on turn J then getting C/R on river and calling — all could have been avoided if I’d folded AJ to the 3bet PF!

I kept it together , table and seat selected as best I could and listened to primed mind especially the part about getting over mistakes, was helpful!

anyway got up to £1007 from my buyin of £200 , tipped the cashier £7 and profited 4 stacks = £800.

bringing total profit from the 3 sessions after todays £10 travel deducted to £1520 , so over 7 stacks really pleased with that!

tomorrow if bank still open after work I’m splitting my poker bankroll into separate account , given my days at work have been cut I think I might be able to make a go of this especially as I’m probabally going to tell my employer I want to work nights for next few months which mean my schedule will be set decent for the poker sessions because as it is it’s 3:30am and I been Up since 9am but really pleased with progress so far.

im setting myself goal of going to Vegas before end of year that will be a nice thing to aim for and people I talked with said play is very bad there!

Prodit currently : £1520 🤘🙂

What did villain have? Had he been nitty? Was it generally nitty or loose?

What size casino, how many tables and what stakes? How do you table select  in a live environment?

Really hope you make it, 👍 it's been a lifelong ambition for me, never happened yet. 😢 Live cash poker is still on the table though, just have to get the right mindset so this blog might help. 😬 Great results, interesting blog but one or two extra details might help.

He was more on nitty side yes, he had KK and decided to check on low paired turn then c/r me on river , I couldn’t work out why he would check turn then c/r river but I guess it worked!

There was about 5 tables running at 200nl, basically the table dynamics change as the night progresses but I realised I was on a table where there really wasn’t one loose player at about 1am, In a live casino you can go on a “transfer list” which means you ask the person in charge of the poker seating to put you on the list to move tables then when a seat on another table becomes free they ask if you want to move to it if it’s your turn , and then the new player waiting to play takes the seat you leave behind instead of seat you’re moving to.

it worked out really well tbh I won nearly 100bb within half hour of moving tables vs a tilted player whereas the table before was playing really tight !

yeah vegas would be great , I much prefer live poker to online, hope you get to give it a try man, and thanks for your kind support!

Sup guys , weekend is upon us! Feeling a bit tired but going to push through I got whole weekend free and intend to play lots of poker!

My new tablet arrived! So now I can take notes and watch Daniels masterclass in wetherspooons (uk pub chain 😂) getting a quick hour in with the coach then will head down to the casino for about 6pm and play until about 5am I hope it goes well , will let you know how it goes! Have a good one people!

Side note I just got this pain in my chest slight tightness and pain it’s happened before last time about a year ago, every time I called doctor they tell me go to AnE and send ambulance! Each time it’s been fine and suspected muscular.

My Apple Watch ECG says it’s ok my heart rate is ok , and although Apple Watch says call emergency services because I told it I had pain in chest , screw that! I don’t fancy spending all day and night in AnE I’m sure it’s fine. Sometimes we just got to make a judgement call I think! Anyway on with the study, gl at the table if you’re playing this weekend!

Another winning session despite a huge mistake! Starting to think I might actually have half a chance of making something happen with live poker.

oh yeah no heart attach re: above too which was nice 😛

4.30am just on way home played for 9 hours.
profited 1.5 stacks so £300 brining profit so far to £1810 (as deducted £10 again for travel today).

The mistake

The mistake was completely ignoring board texture and opponent range when I hit a set of 10s after calling an EP open.

Flop ATx two tone , opponent cbets (with a massive stack behind so my stack was smaller and relative stack size was about 400bb)

I raise his cbet he calls turn is a King… completing possible straight also now sets of AA and KK out there (he was playing tight), he check calls my turn bet.

river completes flush and he donks into me for £125 and I call. Terrible really. The main issue was I’d waited so long for a decent hand I didn’t want to let it go but of course it’s only as good as the board texture and players holding. So it wasn’t a decent hand at all by river but I was stuck in a freeze frame of its strength on the flop!

he had a flush GG.

I sound like an advert for Elliot roe primed mind in this blog lol but the sessions are really helping me , there’s one about mistakes in the app, I recognised the mistake for what it was a chance to improve my game and am not negative about it. Fact I can still profit 150bb in spite of that is very cool. That kinda of thing used to tilt hell out of me lol.

So the journey continues ! Next update tomorrow! 😎

Hey guys just finished 5th session of the challenge to make money and progress playing live poker.

tonight was first losing session of the five I’ve played personally I think I just got unlucky but see what you think.

I have £680 and make it £6 from late position small blind calls with a £440 stack and big blind who had shown himself to be a bit of a terrible player shoves his £100.

everyone folds back to me so it’s me the small blind and big blind left. I didn’t want to call and end up putting in 25% of small blinds stack because if he then shoved or calls I’m I. A terrible position I’d say.

So I shoved to force the small blind to fold, and end up all in with the big blind bad player for 50bbs.

turned out small blind called my shove and had flat called kings…. In small blind.

So won 220 big blinds from me as he held up.

this was fist time bb had shoved like this so it’s no really as if he could have called with intent of big blind ripping it in for 50bbs.

what do you think of above?

I had already lost a stack before that hand, and 8 hands later they broke the table to send us to different tables. At that point I decided to leave and head home which is what I’m doing now at 2:43am so a slightly earlier finish tonight!

I cashed out what I had left which was £244 so overal I ended up minus £156 for the session.

which means have played 5 sessions:

won 4

lost 1

Current profit : £1644

I’ll say one thing I’m really really pleased with my mental game it really hardly phased me which is insanely different to how I’d usually have felt having lost £440 of a £684 stack! But of course this is poker. Of course can’t win every session.

I think I’ll play again tomorrow see how I feel hope your Saturday nights went well!
