Play decent poker at 200nl

hey guys just updating here, i'm currently +£20 net with poker due to a couple foolish decisions. I bought in deep for 1k after losing £200 to a bad beat vs bad player who stacked me for £800, then lost my 1k buyin, I also bought in for £500 another time and lost it.

So a break even month so far but ive learned a couple of things. Don't buy in deep at least not uness you intended to pre session (i was defnitely playing my c game after that beat).

May play again over next few nights if not ill rebuild next month.

Interesting thing i got talking to a player who is a reg ive seen him a number of times and he seems pretty tag, anyway we only really chatted once away from the tables, and he randomly called me asking to loan £500 it left me a bit short mysef at the time but he sounded desperate and promised to pay it back in a few days. So i lent him it via bank trnsfer, and he did pay me back as promised which was good. I just made a gut instinct decision. But later than night i bumped into him again in the casino and he text me while i was playing and asked to borrow it back again until tomorrow. This seemed not such a great idea as it was about 9pm so i guess he just wanted to play poker with it, and why couldnt he wait until tomorrow? Also i thought if i repeatedly keep lending it back to him i never really own the original £500 so i said i couldnt afford to which was true anyway it would have left me kind of short, but just thought id share as a little live poker anecdote.

Plan for next 5 weeks (so up until end of August) are:

- log 160 hours of live poker.

- don't drink any alcohol ( i drank a few times this month, and despite the highs, life all around is much better without alcohol i think)

I do have one thing to show for poker grind so far, i bought myself a kindle paperwhite when i hit £1800 profit which cost £130 in prime day sale. I think that's a great thing to do as you feel like you have something to show for your hard work even if you end up break even because of mistakes.

Hope you're all doing great!

Hours played tonight 8.5

Profit: £477 (minus £10 travel) = £466

—————

total hours played : 19.5/160

total profit: £1086

—————

Session started off pretty poorly with me dropping a stack within 10 minutes! I reloaded and lost that stack later on then had to reload again so at one point I was in for  £650 during the session with just £230ish in front of me.

I’m pleased with my discipline not to buy in deep and I just kept rebuying for 100bbs, ploughed onwards and recovered and also went into profit 🙂

I ran quite a big bluff towards the end vs a deep stack about 250 in the middle on the river and I bet £300 , pleased to say the guy folded. I put him on a weakish hand and he seemed like a nit.

I’ve also reset my sleep to align it with casino time so am sleeping at about 9am and waking at 4pm! Hoping to get to sleep a bit earlier tonight as I’d like to get to the casino a bit earlier tomorrow but will see how we get on, once I’m at home. Really pleased with over 5 stacks profit across last two sessions though, because now my job is ending I didn’t really have the cash to weather a bad start to this month (well end of this month).

had the pleasure of a nice girl sitting to my left for a few hours tonight and we were laughing and joking which was nice, I was tempted to ask for a picture for the blog but thought that might sound a little creepy 😂

hope you’re all doing good 😊

have a good Saturday guys !

I'm pleased he returned your loan and that you didn't loan it to him again. You were fortunate. I and many others have learnt the hard way, never lend money to a poker player (unless they also happen to be your best friend) because there is a high likelihood you won't get it back, not easily anyway.

Pleased it's heading in the right direction for you 🙂
