Happy New Year to every community member and the Unibet team! 😃

Like I mentioned a few days ago, I will be back for the start of the new year. So here I am again.

Last couple of months were rough to be honest. I was sick a lot and could not enjoy Bucharest very much. I arrived there after two flights late in the evening and was very hungry. Everything besides McDonalds was closed, so I had no choice but to get something to eat from there. I don´t like McDonalds very much, but still I had a Big Mac Menue. The next morning I felt extremely miserable. I wanted to play the Main Event satellite that day, but that wasn´t possible. Long story short, I played one event:

220€ Bounty Turbo and finshed 33rd, 34th or 35th (don´t know exactly). 30 People got paid. :Puking: Busted with ATo < A7 or A8o preflop all in (3 outer on the river, true story). I won one 100€ bounty at least. It was a very fast structure, so I would have a had a top10 stack if AT would have held. But I was kind of happy anyways since I didn´t feel great the last two levels of the day and I left the casino at 1 or 2 am, finally back to bed.  I didn´t return to the casino again because my condition didnt´t improve the next day.

Since this UO was kind of unpleasant I m really looking forward to future stops and I hope I can qualify online this time. :Inlove:

2017 goals:

  • play a lot of poker
  • move up stakes
  • play at least 6 live events
  • travel to USA or Canada
  • eat more healthy food, cut out the crap

I ll try to update this blog as frequently as I can. Of course anyone can write a post, ask questions, critize, whatever you want. That makes it easier for me to keep the blog as alive and enjoyable as possible.

Happy New Years and welcome back! Hopefully you will have a more successful return than Ronda Rousey

I debate
Should I smile like everything's good and pretend that life is great
Or should I let the world see the real me and not hide this pain
I tried to be like the rest of y'all, sorry I just can't
I'ma probably die this way

But you have to explain to me who Ronda Rousey is. :geek:

Women's MMA (🤣), was also the nightclub bouncer in Expendables 3. They pushed her to be the #1 star in UFC but over her last two fights she's been KTFO.

Do you have some more stories about your time in Romania? And what is it with McDonalds? That doesn't make sense to me. I mean, we all know McDonalds is crappy food, but the quality is usually there. I mean, that's one of the main reasons they get customers.

We're gonna win on so many levels! We're gonna win, win, win. You're gonna get so tired of winning, you're gonna say: "Mr. President please, we don't wanna win anymore, it's too much!" And I'm gonna say: "I'm sorry, we're gonna keep winning because we're gonna make America great again!"

@WuDu, I see, that explains why I never heard of her. Isn´t MMA the sports where everything is sorted out before they even fight (like how they fight, who is gonna win etc.)? Dou you recommend watching the Expendables movies. Well, I have to admit, I just started rewatching LOST again. I m halfway through season 1, its so great to be back on the island. For everyone who is looking for a tv show to watch: give LOST a try.

I don´t like McDonalds very much, thats all. :D I hate the fact that they are the only possibilty for food after midnight. All I know is that I ate McDonalds food and one day after that I m sick. Might be connected to something else though, I m not sure.

Short story that happened in Romania:

One story is about the drive from my hotel to the Marriott. I talked with the taxi driver and we had a nice chat, he even showed me a couple of must sees in Bucharest. After I accidentially told him I was playing poker in the Marriott, he started complaining about poker being just a game of luck, no skill. Blablabla. He said something like "Don´t do it, give me the money instead. You will lose everything.."

He was either trolling, is a busted, bitter poker player who has to drive taxi to pay his bills now or he just doesn´t know anything about poker like most parts of the german society. At least he had reasonable prices.🤣 In the end he just mumbled some stuff about poker being the devil´s game etc.

The Marriott Hotel was pretty impressive. I made a picture in one of the breaks, I will add it later.

No, MMA is the real sh*t. Mixed martial arts, but for me there's too much on-the-floor man-on-man action going on, if you know what I mean. You mixed it up with WWE (wrestling).

The Expendables is OK if you like 80s action movies, want to kill some time and don't mind losing a few brain cells along the way. But don't waste your time expecting something like Scarface, Goodfellas, Casino, American Gangster or Watchmen.

You watch Lost again? I'm currently watching Fargo Season 1. Good show so far and I can recommend it to you once you're done with Lost in mid February.

How much was the flight/train/cab roundtrip in total for you?

We're gonna win on so many levels! We're gonna win, win, win. You're gonna get so tired of winning, you're gonna say: "Mr. President please, we don't wanna win anymore, it's too much!" And I'm gonna say: "I'm sorry, we're gonna keep winning because we're gonna make America great again!"

MMA, WWE, I was so close. 🤣 Aren´t there some poker players who sometimes fight in a MMA fight against each other for infite :cash: ?

When I was in primary school, some kids was playing with wrestling poker chips with scary dudes like the Undertaker on them. :haha:

I m not that into 80s action movies to be honest, I do like the Terminator movies though.

You really think I m done with Lost in February already? That would be insane, but maybe you are right. :geek: I watched the first and second season of Fargo some time ago, really liked the first one with Martin Freeman as protagonist. Billy Bob Thornton was great, too. I think they managed to maintain the spirit of the movie, although they story is different. Hit me up when you are done with season 1 and how you liked it, @WuDu.

Flights was extremly cheap, back and forth with Ryanair, was probably less than 30€. I just took a bus once, when I arrived at the airport and went to my hotel, that was around 1 or 2€. Taxi costs probably way under 50€. I didn´t add everything up, but Bucharest was very cheap. The McDonalds menue wasn´t expensive as well, maybe 4 or 4,50€ for burger, drink and chips. Besides, I made some money with sportsbetting when I had nothing better to do. My hotel room TV had a tv program that showed all the bundesliga matches live and I watched many of them while betting on Tipico. I accidentially logged into my account and found 55€ balance #sometimeslucky

Olivier Busquet and JC Alvarado had a hyped MMA-style fight recently, and Terrence Chan from the 2+2 Pokercast is a mixed martial arts fighter. He also made a podcast series 'All-in or knocked-out' about the Busquet-Alvarado fight, which I heard is good but I just don't care about fighting.

As for TV-series, I really enjoyed Westworld recently.

Right, I remember Busquet looking like a monster. He was probably on some kind of anabolic drug, wasn´t he?

What is Westworld about, @MathrimC? I saw some enormous poster advertising in Glasgow, I think that was Westworld. I will add it to my list. :)

Other than that, I started to implent a morning routine into my life. Started yesterday and continued doing it today. It includes waking up early, drinking cold water with some freshly pressed lemonjuice, going out for a run and half a douzen other simple tasks. After two days I m already very happy with starting what hopefully becomes a habit. I will definitively keep to do it, maybe adding or changing some tasks though.

Pokerwise, I started playing SNGs on Unibet yesterday and I must say I like the new software I heard so many bad stuff about. What I dislike, is that the software just crashes sometimes, or sometimes even freezes (or frozes? HELP ). The bonus shop is nice and the best thing is the challenges for Heads up and 5max SNGs, I guess that will boost the total  numbers in both.

Now, I m waiting for the Unibet Open stops to be announced. Would be great if they announce them today, I m very excited to get some more information about ´em.

See you at the tables, good luck everyone :Peace:

Westworld is a sci-fi thriller series about a theme park recreating the old wild west, populated by very humanlike robots. It's about artificial intelligence and philosophy of mind, and the related ethical dilemmas. And other than that it's another impressive and exciting high budget HBO production :Cheeky:

Good luck in the sngs, and hope you have the discipline to keep up the morning routine

American Psycho is a great movie, however for a lot of people it's not really easy to understand. I think at first, I found it weird but over time it grew on me. Maybe similar to Fight Club. Watchmen is another movie like that, one of my most favorite movies and even better once you read the graphic novel.

If you watch American Psycho expecting something like Silence of the Lambs, if you watch Fight Club expecting Rocky or if you watch Watchmen expecting Iron Man, than you'll dislike those movies.

@WuDu, I didn´t really dislike it, it was more like being speachless and shocked. Everything was shown so drastically, like when he ran the stairs down and through the hallway with the chainsaw following that girl. Besides that, he was completely nude in this very scene, wasn´t he?

About the end: Did all the stuff really happen or did he just make it up in his mind? Because the guy (played by Jared Leto) he admitted to have killed, seemed to alive.

Hey guys,

the last days there wasn´t happening much at all. I played lots of SNGs and I m still trying get used to the new challenge system. What I dislike the most about them is that in SNGs they only count for the first two levels or 6 minutes of any SNG. That makes some of them very hard and -ev to finish. I mean it is extremly difficult to get it in 60 or 70bb deep with a pocket pair. Firstly you want to have at least QQ+ to get it in preflop all in that deep. Secondly you need someone to 3bet, eventually 5bet shove or someone with a strong hand aswell. Thirdly you have to lose the all in. That is a weird thought in my opinion. You get rewarded for losing an all in. So you have to either get sucked out (lose with AA, KK to a worse hand) or there has to be a set up like KK vs AA. I won´t ever get it why Unibet want us to negativly reinforced by these challenges. Maybe they want us to see some kind of silver lining like:

"I lost the buyin that was worth 1/2/4/10/25€  and I lost my chips that would have been worth even more in €, but I won some points that are worth a tiny fraction of what I would have won if I won the hand. That´s great!"

Next time, I might discard such kind of a challenge instantly, but I tried to fullfill it for such a long time now, it s worth lot of points 🆒

In February I plan to travel a lot. I managed to get tickets for Bayern Munich - Wolfsburg (german cup 1/16 or 1/8 finals, 7th February) and Hertha BSC Berlin - Bayern Munich (18.2. german BUNDESLIGA). I still try to get myself a seat for the 3,500CAD$ WPT Playground in Montreal, Canada (around 10-15th Feb.) and of course I still have some room in the range of 20 - 27th February. There are rumors there will be some great event in London....... 😉

So, if you want you will get some A+ pictures of the Allianz Arena (Munich) and the Olympiastadion (Berlin), guaranteed. London/Montreal still a long way to go, but nothing is impossible, I think.

I started my UO mission with a 2€ Ticket, I had left. On the bubble I shoved 99 from late position, I got called by some kind of ........ with Q2. Flop Q22. Turn and river bricked, so I got huuuge 1,60€ for finshing 12th instead of the 10€ ticket for the first eleven players. That was a huge disappointment, I still don´t get the call with Q2. I think I should have folded my 99 preflop to avoid such an ugly enconter with Q2 (otherwise known as the absolute nuts).

I don´t know if I play a lot this weekend. If I try to qualify for the Sat. Stack or the Sunday Entitled I will message you about the progress. I promise! 😃

Have a nice weekend everyone and crush the tables! :peace:

I am getting really frustrated with people taking ages to play at SNGs with the new challenges.

My thought process "FFS dont you know we only have 2 levels to get points, Hurry up and take your go, OMG now disconnected there goes more time"

and then a 2nd player does the same and I sulk 🤣

You can exchange UO tickets again all is unicorns and rainbows in Unibet land.

@GotWhatItTakes

I totally agree with you about that challenge, on the flipside I immediately discarded the "eliminate a player during the first 6 minutes (twice)" challenge. The only way something like this happens at that level is some combination of AA, KK, QQ AK preflop or if a player runs into higher trips on the flop e.g. That has nothing to do with skills, but is just a case of bad luck most of the times.

Two days ago I went all-in with a flush and my opponent couldn't throw away TP. Problem was he had 15 chips more than me, so the next hand he was eliminated when he was in the SB. Problem was, despite me doing the majority of work here, I didn't eliminate that player.

Yesterday my minor challenge was to be the bubble boy (3 times). What kind of challenge is that? However since I am on a downswing right now, I cleared that one...

By the way, can anyone of you send me the email address I have to contact when I want to get my stats send to me? I tried via livechat, livechat said they sent it, but of course they bungled that one up again and nothing is in my email account.

All the best on your Unibet challenge, however I think you might run out of time if you plan to play in London starting from a 2 Euro ticket. 😃 I'm currently sitting at 360 Euro in unibet tickets (started with a 4 Euro ticket) and my calculation is to maybe reach the UO at the end of the year if I can beat the 50s and 250s.

Finally, I watched Season 1 of Fargo and I have to say, it's a really great show, not as good as BB, but better than most of the stuff running on German TV. Let's have some Fargo season 1 discussion here! 😉 All I can say is that Lester Nygaard is one hell of an idiot...

100% agree. Once this challenge will appear in my challenge section it will be discarded as fast as Garfield senses a fresh lasagne.

That´s an ugly one. It seems that busting a player gets as important as busting a player with a bounty. Even though you don´t get any real money reward for busting him.

Yesterday my minor challenge was to be the bubble boy (3 times). What kind of challenge is that? However since I am on a downswing right now, I cleared that one...

That is the challenge I dislike the most. Thank god it took me a more than average time to complete, because normally I either finish 5th or 1st. 🆒

Maybe you can try to official 2+2 thread and ask Andrew if he can help you.

I won´t start with the 2€ stats. And if I win a ticket for the next step I will play it, won´t exchange anything. I will go with the risky way. I think I will travel to London no matter what. Flights are cheap and unless a mayor downswing is gonna hit me, I will be there. Would be great to win the package though. Still 1,5 months of qualifing time ahead of us. I can do it! 👼

I will put my opinion in a spoiler tag, so if anybody didn´t watch Fargo yet, don´t open the spoiler tag 😏

Yeah, the first season of Fargo was great. I really enjoyed the different themes in every episode. Often funny, but still very exciting and tenseful. Plus, I really like Martin Freeman (he is great in Sherlock as well as in the Hobbit movies) and I think the character of Lester Nygaard fits perfectly. I don´t remember everything perfectly but he was caught because the character played by Billy Bob Thornton kept the recording of Lester´s call when he killed his wife, right? It was so dumb when he said "hi" to the killer when they met in the restaurant. He should just have gone his way. He had the perfect life. But in the end, well he was walking on thin ice if you know what I mean 🤣

@MathrimCThanks, I will try that.

@GotWhatItTakes

I really like the development of the characters in Fargo:

At the beginning, if you looked up the definition for cuck in the dictionary, there should be a picture of Lester Nygaard next to it! Think about it, he works a stupid 9-5 job. His wife is fat and ugly and is a known cheater and he gives her a pass. Not only that, she also complains about him being terrible in bed and bringing in not enough money, especially compared to his brother. He's 40 years old but looks 15 years older. His stature is Hobbit-esque. He wears stupid clothing and his high-school bully is still making fun of him.
Great acting by Martin Freeman, even I was rooting for Sam Hess to beat his ass! Then Malvo kills Hess and Lester kills Pearl with the hammer. And let's be honest, Pearl had it coming a mile away! This makes you start rooting for Lester because he finally fought back. Then he framed his brother which was bad, but somehow funny in a Frank Underwood type of way, similar to tricking Mrs Hess...
But when he confronted Malvo in Las Vegas, what an idiot to do that, and gave up his Korean wife to die, you want him to get caught in the end.

I also liked Billy Bob Thornton, this scene gets me everytime:

We're gonna win on so many levels! We're gonna win, win, win. You're gonna get so tired of winning, you're gonna say: "Mr. President please, we don't wanna win anymore, it's too much!" And I'm gonna say: "I'm sorry, we're gonna keep winning because we're gonna make America great again!"

I strongly agree with what you wrote about the character development. But you have to explain to me what a cuck is. Never heard the expression.

I need to admit that I have been watching Fargo in german 🤫 It just started in german when I started it on Netflix and I was too cozy and lazy to change it. What do you think, is it worth rewatching in the original language? I would love to rewatch season 1 to be honest, since I forget a lot about it. I didn´t even know who Sam Hess was. I even had to to check his name on google to remember the way he (and his kids, right?) bullied Lester. And I guess, it ll be great to hear the original voices of Billy B.T. and Martin Freeman. Did you already start the second season? Jesse Plemons (Todd alias Meth Demon from Breaking Bad) is playing as one of the main characters in that one, Kirsten Dunst is in there, too. :geek:

Nice vid, really enjoying the way he is saying "ACES!" in the end. 🤣

Here's your definition.

I think, I'll wait with season 2 a while and watch something else first. Anybody have any suggestions? Better call Saul still takes a while and I still want to watch Narcos and Westworld, but I guess I watch The Strain next. I liked season 1, so we'll see...

If you want to rewatch Fargo, sure do it in English! Maybe you'll find the answer to

why Lester confronted Malvo in Las Vegas after getting his salesman of the year award? I mean, what was his long term plan? He had absolutely nothing to gain. Or was it all liquid courage?
We're gonna win on so many levels! We're gonna win, win, win. You're gonna get so tired of winning, you're gonna say: "Mr. President please, we don't wanna win anymore, it's too much!" And I'm gonna say: "I'm sorry, we're gonna keep winning because we're gonna make America great again!"
