Cash game challenge.

There seem to be more and more threads complaining about bad beats, suck outs, aggro fish playing any two, though thankfully not as many "I'm going to play higher stakes where they'll respect my raises."

Matt Berkey (I'm a fan but most of his strategy content is waaaaay above my level) brought up these points recently on Solve for why on YT.

A big point he made was if he offered you €250,000 to beat these games over 100,000 hands you would find a way to do it. One big blind profit over 100,000 hands. Sounds easy! He's probably not going to offer me that much so I'm setting myself my own challenge.

Three thousand flops, probably 20,000 hands or so (possibly quite a few more in my nitty case 😁)

The rate I play it could take some time but I'm never in a rush 🦥

Started yesterday so anyone else is welcome to tag along.

One week in and a reasonable start. I'm playing slowly and steadily, trying to keep as many stats as possible, time played, hands played etc, but it's slow going and way too little data yet. Two tabling next week. 😁

As for PLO, forget it, stupid game. 😡

Ty @P0kerM0nk

I'm running the horseracing, roulette and poker challenge in three seperate threads and tying up the results in my main blog, do you think I should keep it all in one?  🤔

Maybe handier? Up to you I guess. Don’t forget to post the bad beats, AA getting cracked by T4o and such 🤣

And those tickets, kinda sad they have the same 7 day expiry as a normal ticket, should be longer imo as you spend 4K points on it.

As long as you see 1 Flop in a 7-Day period the ticket will remain alive indefinitely. 🙂

Today saw a 2 hour, 2 tabling session.

Not off to a great start, turned the nut straight and got it allin.

1288989528_Screenshot(179).thumb.png.b94cf1a5143d11fc7525a1bf3479be69.png

Not to be. 🙄

1155699991_Screenshot(181).thumb.png.d11c98f563fd653856226f451147cef8.png

A lot of back and forth, lost almost another stack when same player kept calling and hit 2nd pair on river.😞

On the other table late on this came up.

We'd had a few smallish pots against each other, both above average stacks and it seemed no-one else on the table was willing to get involved, quite nittyish. (nittyish ???)

1697779320_Screenshot(183).thumb.png.84cd6ab96232d9936038e1bd356dd128.png

He raised yet again, I three bet and was called. I don't like to mess about if I hit the flop, slowplaying only ever brings tears, so I c-bet and he called. I'm thinking he has a K, not KK or AA, that would definitely have been in pre.

712816575_Screenshot(184).thumb.png.84697b9842873494550cafbef81fb1ba.png

I bet the turn, the call convinced me he had K. The way he'd been playing though I was pretty sure he didn't have a house, he would have let me know...........................

1187194511_Screenshot(185).thumb.png.d71c61eed0756549156230b0f03b91ff.png

..........................so the rest just had to go in with fingers crossed and hope my vastly improved reading skills were holding up. 🤣

You can play for hours and see so many hands but in the end it's just so few hands that make the difference.

I finished the session about $1 down so I regard that as a plus after that start, still up overall.

Over a thousand hands now, please note:   AA once, €0.41 won. 🤨

@GR1ZZL3R @psrquack

All show fine for me. There's clearly something wrong with the showing of images on this forum...

@P0kerM0nk  @HardGain

You don't actually even need to see a flop. Just sitting down on a table and leaving immmediately before even getting a hand dealt is enough to reset the ticket expiration to 7 days again...

@GR1ZZL3R I already saw those after your earlier post.... and I still do.

That's why I said something deosn't quite work when some members see the images that others don't. We had the same issue on one of your posts last week also iirc...

@Purps Just checking you could still see them, thanks. It seems sometimes I can slide a screenshot onto the thread, others it goes into the Drag files section and somehow messes up. 😡

@GR1ZZL3RI just drag em in my post as it gets too messy otherwise, it's a weird system lol.

About your hands, that's the problem at those very low stakes, so many random players playing A2C so really hard to put people on a range. Just need to grind it out and play mostly ABC and tighter preflop I'd say. Don't mind limping behind with mediocre hands or open limping small pocket pairs etc. But I rather move up to where they respect my raises 😂

@P0kerM0nk At the micros there is no such thing as ranges, every single hand from AA to 72o can be played like any other hand, any way it's possible to play them. That's why I mentioned the few winning hands concept, you can grind your stack up and lose it to something that just seems impossible for villain to have. Patience is the absolute priority down there.

Two weeks gone, the second with a small amount of two tabling and the sad demise of the PLO ticket. In the end it was a relief to see it put out of it's misery, being unable to compete no matter how well it flopped or how big a hand it made. 😭

However the NLHE ticket is holding up OK.

So far nine hours of play, 1,599 hands, 236 flops, about 14%, and a steady climb in value.

This week: THREE tabling. 😄

Three weeks in and just about keeping level. I've bounced up and down this week, wether it's down to the :3h:tabling or sometimes rushing to get the 60 flops in for the promo I'm not sure, but nothing too serious yet.

I was counting hands but it became far too time consuming, oh for such a simple thing as an automatic hand counter! Please! 🤓

I'm thinking of :4d:tabling next week, at least to see how it goes.

A few highlights:

  • 2 weeks later...

Four weeks in and the distractions are building up, all the euro promos, watching some matches, more horse racing etc. I stayed on three tables literally long enough to make a profit then up to 4 tables. Not a great week but not a disaster, I felt much more comfortable with three. I'll give it a bit longer but may switch down again, I'm not sure I'm focussed enough for more.

1936388577_Screenshot(404).png.dd209be2545830fbc27cd36b8875c5ce.png

So far I've got at least 60 flops in per day for 2 tokens for the penalty hero promo but haven't used any yet, I'd like a big stack of them. 😄

A steady start took me over €30 then a horrible crash wiped €15 off. Made most of it back over the next two days but I definitely don't like those swings.

:Ah::As: are holding up well, :Kc::Kd: not so good, and the rest about normal. I'm in a fairly good routine amongst everything else and will try to push through and complete soon, maybe a couple of weeks, maybe sooner. 😄

"Crash, bang, wallop, what a picture, what a photograph!"

A truly bad week, all the more frustrating because I don't think I'm playing badly.

Stats, for what they're worth, will be updated when I run out of flops to see, hopefully sooner rather than later.

**About what I'll be left with at the end of this ticket! 🤣
