jerry
I put small stake in first race of Kempton for Shanroe Smooth. Only 3 horses first two with 2.00 odd and third with 23 :D. I feel like this can happen 👍:cash: the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist
GR1ZZL3R
I think you meant plumpton @jerry. I mentioned this in the comp. thread as it used to be an old system, back the outsider in a three horse race. You will get some surprising winners at good prices but believe me, in the long run you will not make a profit. If you are very selective you may do well, though I would only recommend this if you have found other reasons to believe the horse will win. Good luck. 👍 "It turns out that 75% of all poker players think they play better than the other 75%."
GR1ZZL3R
I must have been rushing. GR1ZZL3R
Yet another thread started and fading away but I haven't completely given up on this one yet. I've still been picking the horses and backing them, about level ( don't all losers say that? ) but not having the confidence to post them publicly. I've been monitoring the results and playing around with a staking system, three winners one day last week followed by five losers on Friday, then getting interrupted on Saturday after picking one horse, not backing it and of course it won at 7/1. 😠 Consistency is the key, not backing them "just because", so a little tweak here and there and I'll start posting selections again. When I see the number of selections by @Marekss @Purps @pittpitt @AndreiBN and others I feel overwhelmed only picking 3-4 per day, but it will remain slow and steady from here, and hopefully more profit.:cash:😃 5 "It turns out that 75% of all poker players think they play better than the other 75%." GR1ZZL3R
I can't believe it's over a year since I abandoned this thread but, like many things I start, I seem to give up too quickly in the face of poor bad horrendous middling to average results, so like the poker I intend to run this as far as I can and succeed or fail after a fair run. These selections* will tend to be in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd favourite category, but an occasional longer priced shot appears. I'll be starting with a base unit of £1 per pick and applying a small progression if (when) I hit a losing streak. 🤣 Lets go racing. *These selections are offered purely for entertainment, and the author can in no way be held responsible for any losses incurred while following this thread. :Cheeky: 4 "It turns out that 75% of all poker players think they play better than the other 75%." GR1ZZL3R
DAY 2 RESULTS. No winners. :Teardrop: Loss -€5.00. Running Total: -€2.50. Looking at today's selections throws up 8 picks, which was not the original idea, namely 2-4 decently strong picks a day. The first three are all forecast favourites so I'll back them, but I actually prefer the longer shots, so depending how many selections I continue to find I may just stick to those. An update at around 14:30 G.M.T.Good Luck. "It turns out that 75% of all poker players think they play better than the other 75%." TheStrongMan
@GR1ZZL3R what do you rely on when playing on horses? statistics? impulse? odds? GR1ZZL3R
Hi @TheStrongMan I use quite a few things to decide on bets that should lower the number of selections, but so far I think I might need to tighten up even more. I generally go for decentish form, smaller fields and normally don't like favourites. Whenever I start a run of betting though I tend to include all selections ( but NEVER odds on in horse racing ) and then try to narrow them down as the results accumulate, so I tend to bet too many to start with until I get a grasp on the stats. I'll continue this week with all my picks but think I'll reset and only go for non-favourites in future, though this can sometimes lead to far fewer picks and longer losing runs, hopefully made up for by hitting higher priced winners. I'm surprised I've picked 8 today but feel the pressure to show them all, like my "Cashing In" thread I've gone public so I can't run and hide if things go wrong. I see you have done many multiples so far which to be honest I'm not a fan of, from the "Daily hot bets" thread you can see how difficult it is to string 2 or 3 winners together even at low odds, though it can be annoying if you hit four winners and have only backed them in singles. Good Luck if you carry on with your efforts. 1 "It turns out that 75% of all poker players think they play better than the other 75%."

The 15:35 at Newbury is a 24 runner handicap that has no less than 13 horses put forward as the best bet of the day! I think I'll give that one a miss!
