  1. This week has been full of savage rivers and nonsensical calls from the opposition. I am still hurting over bubbling a UK50 ticket two nights ago due to an ICM sucide call from an opposing player. I missed a great oppurtunity for a big score in one of the UOS Low events last night after leading the tournament for a good amount of time before getting into some good positions allin with less than 25 players left and succumbing to consecutive river cards. I am wondering what sort of reputation I have on this site. I seem to get called EXTREMELY light when I move allin from small on big and far more often than I should be. Im talking 10 8 and below type light and getting called even when on the bubble with a big stack vs another big stack. I think less people have read Dara's book than Twitter suggests!

I dont want to be playing late tonight so might give the events a miss. I'll play tomorrows events and then travel to Manchester Saturday morning and see whos about in the casino.

  2. Been a tough week in poker. I'm going to give it one final grind before UOS. Not that I will be playing a huge deal of UOS due to other commitments but still.

I've been reading up more on PLO cash which is positive.

I've been watching some strategy videos and trying to keep my head when the bad beats come.

I will be in Manchester next weekend if anyone wants to say hi (probably won't be playing unless there is a community game).

Thanks and good luck to you too. Its a good point about hand analysis. It's very different when you are on a bad run and you are often find ways for justifying a bad play. I am currently on one of those runs so I'm trying to play short sharp sessions to burn out the bad luck but it is so frustrating.

  4. Cheers @GR1ZZL3R . I shall defo be looking at all advice I can with the mental game. I won’t be diving in too soon I have a lot of reading to do. Also got to set some targets on what I want to achieve. Moving up and down levels etc. I class myself as a fairly competent plo player - certainly above average but depending on what mental state I’m in I will also be the one overvaluing little straights and flushes.

I will , of course, be going public with results 😀

  5. Thanks @GR1ZZL3R I think I am going to give it a go when I'm ready.

I know how many hands they say in holdem etc and I think I would agree with that at a high level where the more skillful people will play. At the levels I can afford to play I always think people who say that believe they should be beating the game but aren't in profit, and can't admit defeat or go back to study more. There are so many people still around those levels making consistant mistakes over and over. I suspect the overall level of PLO is worse than holdem too. If I played 300,000 hands at 10PLO and was down I would accept I can't beat the game and need to improve. I would accept it long before that. Variance or not there will be 1000's of oppurtunities in that time to be able to pick off a weaker player with the 'right bet' or just squeeze that little bit extra out of someone to counter the times when you will get coolered. Even the odd 10cents here and there improvement is going to help counter overall variance. I want to focus on that side.

I'm not sure what a good performer looks like at that level though. ROI? BB per hour rate? It's going to be interesting.

I will almost certainly struggle mentally with the swings. Always have always will so thats a big risk.

  6. Incidentally I'm looking for a bit of advice on PLO cash if anyone can help.

I hate cash. Historically I've been terrible at it, it bores me, I tilt easily and I generally have no interest in it. However, I seem to be very comfy at the 10PLO tables and making money from them over the course of this year but I'm mindful that I don't play for that long or that many hands.

How many hands should of be looking at to get a good feel for wether I'm a winning player? What's a good hourly win rate for PLO? What's people's overall feeling on the strength of the various player pools on Unibet?

Obviously I would have to change the way I record it and measure it because my current method is not fit for purpose.

It is maybe something I will look at playing more seriously next year. I love PLO and would love to be an expert at it.

  7. Wow has it really been 4 weeks since a profit update.. Feels like I havent played much in that time. Thats got to change, though. I have to ramp up and get some volume in and try and save this year of poker which in my opinion has been a pretty bad one.

  8. @mathew1982

Thanks for the feedback mate. Been a busy week and I've only just managed to read it properly but I appreciate you taking the time to write it. I certainly recognise your name from the tables! I completely agree with you too. I don't know much about the player but weak players would tend not to think about holding a 2 or 4 and being ahead. From experience they just see a shove and think that player 'must have something good' but it was a risk not worth taking. I felt I could fold out K high which I think was a big part of the range. But the K high range was wider than expected to include K7. Like I said I think it was a desperation move on my part and one that I've no doubt I will do again but its cool. Live and learn.

  9. I absolutely agree with you @Nestabear. This, coupled with the disconnections yesterday, was annoying. I was grinding a cash ticket but only wanted to play until I had the 3 spins. So I found my self going back to the lobby every hand to check if the next spin had been added yet. I am surprised there isn’t an icon that tells you, I think there was in the past. I found tracking it with cash was hard with other tables.

Today I will just play 7 hexa2’s at a time which are far more easier to track.

11 days into the new quarter and no grind to speak of. Today I plan to change that. Missions for today:

Play as many sats as possible during my grind to build ticket roll for UOS.

Get a ticket for the UK tour final.

    Finish in profit.

I will be away twice during UOS so won't be competeing for leaderboards but winning a couple of events would suffice

Failed the first two but was successful at making profit which I guess is all that matters...

going to find some time to go again today!

    2 issues with the above:

    1) It gave me neck ache trying to read it.

    2) Your average €5/10 MTT player will look at it as simply as "If he had an ace he would bet the flop".

@Brocky Yeah I agree. You think they call if they don’t have hit the 7?

i wasnt willing to surrender the pot and I think there is a few things I fold out that beat me. Wether that’s as many as the combinations that call me I don’t know but I know an ace isn’t in those combinations. Knowing my own play there are a few hands I’d have there that win and id play like that, but youre right an ace wouldn’t be one of them.

    Desperation move overall I guess.

  12. HAND ANALYSIS

Im not sure about the call pre. KinkKong has shown quite a wide range in flat calling pre during the short time at final table. But after that...

Decent move by me to try get a bigger stack? Or am I way out of line?

EDIT - Not sure why the images are sideways. They are correct way up when I upload.

  14. "Jenny Lerner: When I was 11, I stole $32 from your wallet."

    - Quote from the film Deep Impact

$32 is enough to play the poker tournament 'Deep Impact' on Unibet.

Let's play the poker tournament - Deep Impact.

    And a few other things.

  15. *Waiting for points reset to put in the next grind but still want to do this Sunday*

Booking time away from kids is difficult so can’t do it often enough to grind everything.

    #PokerProblems

Looks like I’ll be missing a lot of the next UOS too as I’m away at the start and in Manchester in the middle of it.

Paris still on the radar... but it’s a faint bleep!
