Looks like this has happened again tonight. Do I need to practice flips again?

Last time, a flip, which equals to a lottery, was the worst decision. You don't play game after game to participate in a lottery in the end.

It's Hexapro. The entire format is a lottery, especially when chasing a jackpot promo.

In the event of a problem, such as this one, a raffle with multiple prizes is a much lower variance route to realising your equity. Plus, the added cash means that your equity increases significantly.

In short, Unibet are giving away free money and increasing your chances of getting a share. Complaining about it doesn't really help anybody.

  2. Thanks @ReCorpH. I'll be playing finals again as soon as I can; realistically, the next one I can play is likely to bet the 15/2 though so the extension is a bit tight; the end of March would be better if that's okay.

I'm now missing a ticket by the way. I had four and three of them were about to expire so if you could reinstate the old one please then that would be brilliant. Thanks again.

Hi @ChapInAChair , you frind won a package for Manchester that he used there, he also won a package for MK, if he wants to transfer that package he has to contact us personally.

    Hi @Leo-Unibet

I've just been checking my chat records with @Dowelikestew and I believe he won UK Tour packages on 13th October, 17th November and 2nd March. He got in touch on the 18th November (presumably to support) to ask for one buyin to be transferred to me. He followed this up with you on 6th December and you said something like I just needed to mention it to you, but neither of us have had any actual confirmation of what has happened.

As he played one in Manchester this should mean that he should have one remaining, which he'll be using in Newcastle, and I should have the one he transferred, which I'd also like to use in Newcastle. If it hasn't been transferred then he should have two at this point.

I'm guessing you'll be busy with the MK event this week so there's no hurry but I'm sure you understand that I'd like to get it pinned down when you get the chance please. Cheers.

  4. Some things that would be nice if possible:

    1) DSO Exchanges - they're live events so I'm surprised they're not included.

    2) Supernova Exchanges - I know this sits outside the live event approach but I'd expect that ticket rotation would be good for the general SN number.

Apologies if I've missed any discussion on this already.

Facing two limpers I wasn't exactly sure what to do here. If it was a higher stake I'd be very weary of the limp from the 8bb stack but thankful HUD buddy has been taking notes and is showing that both players have been playing lots of hands and never raise. I was confident that if it had folded to me unopened the 8's were a snap shove but I wanted to check just how wide I could shove. So I did.

That's enough words and pictures for one post I think. We'll return part 2 to have a look at the middle part of the game.

Yep, stick it in. Printing money against with those lovely dead blinds.

Self Assessment - SNG edition (Part 1)

    Hand 12

We're in the small blind now with As3h and 18bb behind. It folds round to the button who limps for 100. I complete in the small blind and BB checks. Flop comes 6s7hJh. I check, big blind bets 100, button calls and I get out of the way. Preflop I was getting nearly 6.5:1 to call so I think it's OK but from my tiny sample of hands (3kish) the SB is the only position with a negative bb/100 so maybe it's the kind of hand I should let go and just keep the chips. I don't really know :speechless:

I agree that you should let it go. I think it's fine to call with Axs because you can play any draws aggressively but A3o has so little to offer at this stack depth that it's got to be better to ditch it.

There have already been another two eliminations and we are down to 7 players. Blinds are now 50/100 with a 10 chip ante. We are dealt Q5s in the big blind. UTG limps and it folds round to the small blind who completes and I check.

    1272483199_hand11.PNG.9fdc51edef9db459ce83a83c18e695ec.PNG

Flop comes 665 with two diamonds. UTG bets 200 into the 370 pot and the small blind folds. This was the first real decision I had to make and the first hand I marked. Looking at the HUD it's a mixed bag of information. Villain has played 45% of the hands so far but has never raised, so they like a limp. Unfortunately he has not made a c-bet or folded to one so we have zero post flop information to go on with this decision. Is there a standard action here? I have no idea but here were my thoughts.

Villain shouldn't really have a 5 or a 6 in their hand. I'd expect a player that is limping a lot to have Broadway type hands or a low to middle pair. With me having a 5 and there already being two 6's on the flop that makes either 5's or 6's tricky to have. Also the bet size seemed strange. You can't customise the quick bet buttons on the client so the villain has typed that number in, not just randomly clicked the 1/2 pot button. It seemed on the large size to me because if I had a 6 I'd want my opponent to catch up a little and I wouldn't want them to be scared off a call. With that in mind I check-raised and UTG folded. Is that a losing play long term?

I think this one is a sigh-fold because of the stack sizes. If this was a late position raise and you were defending then it's a great spot to check-jam the flop. With an early limp followed by a half pot bet then you can either:

    • Jam - Basically a bluff as you're in trouble against everything he calls (and think about how many microfish limp their premiums in early position)
    • Call - Which leaves you in a horrible situation on later streets on almost every runout, particularly at those SPRs
    • Fold - Which probably feels a little bit nitty after hitting the board while short stacked but it still leaves you with a stack that carries plenty of clout in better spots.

No @cris1285, this is a hoax that has been doing the rounds for some time. There have been a couple of documented superusers down the years on sites that no longer exist but I've never heard of a case of being able to control the runout.

In summary, it's never fixed. It's just numbers being numbers.

Now i see where your coming from and your absolutely right. It's a disgrace, these people should barred or worse.

There's also a lot of avatars from the village people. I saw a guy using the indian head gear avatar from the village people  with the alias "brian". Clearly a gay name and mocking the rest of us. How can they allow it ?

Then there is all the Romanians @AndreiBN and @@FeelsBadMan. It's not bad enough they come over and take our jobs and money, now they are doing it sitting on their asses back home. We dont even know what their alias means cos its not even proper english. Whats all that about ?

Worse still is a lot of avatars are of women and get this, some of them playing are actually women. Poker has always been a mans game. A few years ago we gave em a vote and now look what happens. I hope when trump gets in this will all change.

Now, i can just about live with the muslims, gays, romanians and women but what i dont get is them northerners type like @ChapInAChair and @jonny2192 with their shell suit avatars. You cant understand a bloody word they say when you meet em at a live event. They should be kept in caged enclosures, and remain incarcerated until they fully grasp the English language.

Merry Xmas and a happy new year

Now come on @pirahn, I don't think it's the place of a brown gentleman to offer opinions on racial or regional stereotyping when there are plenty of white men around to properly explain exactly how things should be. 😏

@ArtyMcFlyI understand you totally. It's just I hate the word being used out of context/hijacked even when trying to be funny. It's a shame that a word has many meanings that it is bound to be offessive to some people.

    Okay...back to playing poker

This is where we come full circle and the issue isn't that the expression is offensive but that you choose to be offended by it. Two quite different animals.

It could quite easily be a Muslim player* using the alias in a very straightforward 'as intended' way.

*Before anybody chips in with the 'Muslims are forbidden to play' argument I'll save everybody's time by pointing out that we all do things we're not supposed to, except win at showdown with JJ.

Alias with profanity usually show lack of creativity. Plus it's a good indicator of the type of person they are in real life. Do you think for example a person that creates a fake twitter just to troll is likely to be an outstanding person outside the internet? Unlikely.

I have no problem with offensive alias', that's your right. Just don't make excuses as to why you have it. Be honest and say 'I'm immature and can't really come up with anything better'

I think this is quite a lazy argument. I used to be a full time journalist and I've spent years working with people in the media. In my experience the best and most creative people were usually the most profane. Profanity often adds an extra dimension to language and if it's used well then it can be brilliant.

There are plenty of people who are clearly stupid, immature or mean (and in those cases it becomes pointless getting offended by them) but, in my opinion, written language can be hugely enriched with a nice bit of creative swearing.
