Thirty one days in and up to the next step, the €2 qualifiers. I began them by playing from the start and in most of them I got a larger stack than I would have by late regging, so far so good. Unfortunately variance is not on my side, three sixth place finishes, a seventh and an eighth, with one early exit means no conversions, and the ROI taking a massive hit. 🤢

Not much more to say really except I won another 40c consolation instead of a ticket so my total buy ins actually stand at €2.82, I actually played through a centroll and won another €2 ticket,

                         image.thumb.png.b58670f6ff3b5a9269278e22c63d2803.png

and formatting the hours played in the time column was a bit of a bugger!  Got there in the end though.

Timing of the buy ins is now important as I'll be off next week so I'll have to make sure each ticket will have 9 or 10 days left on them, ( I might even be extremely bad and have none left to come back to) who the hell wants to play poker when on holiday?  I might check out the casino while I'm there though.

UPDATE

Time for an update before my holiday, though there isn't really much to report.

I still haven't won a ticket from a €2 tourney, though it feels like I'm getting very close in almost every one, just running into monsters every last shove.

Philosophical question of the day (1). Why when I'm ahead do I get on the wrong side of variance and lose, but when I'm behind variance takes its normal course and I lose? It's not all bad really, I'm only a couple of winning tickets from pulling back up, the annoying thing is though the trend has filtered down into the 40c level  and I'm currently on a downswing there as well.

                     image.png.e84203aaf65ca8bf9c08501972e22e06.png

It's not all doom and gloom however, I won another centroll for a €2 ticket, my 3rd. I'm still entering as late and as cheaply as possible and as soon as the 40c ticket is achieved just start going all in with anything reasonable looking, either building a stack or not wasting time. With about 20 or so left in, 8BB on the same table as the chip leader, the climb started.

                image.thumb.png.e3b0a493beadebbd29ba2a1ad45d6d38.png

I ran very hot. Philosophical question of the day (2). Why can you run hot when you're not really bothered, but when you really care you can run like a drain?

Each of the following three examples followed very similar patterns.

                image.thumb.png.f47790f7ae5571685dcafff840d7b73e.png

                image.thumb.png.b30f4062ef9d502e9babf60f06882f8e.png

                image.thumb.png.ff107399c5c15b95abb60993acac4dda.png

I raise pre, get called, bet the flop and get a shove or get shoved on immediately. I was doubly lucky, getting the big hands then villain flops top pair each time and goes with it.

The last hand was just normal luck when villain had won twice in a row and was mounting a comeback.

                image.thumb.png.e4791749831b73cc7859d617825c1514.png

That's 101 tourneys played in 38 days, slightly less than I estimated (3 per day) and probably a touch behind what was a very loose schedule, (I thought I might be a the €10 level by now) but as usual no rush. The actual cost so far is €4.29 in BPs less 80c won back, so a very long way to go before I need to check the cost effectiveness.

OTHER NEWS

Nice to see Nestabear and Irishrover making deep runs in the Supermoon, Nestabear from freerolls up. I watched Nestabear the first night on my ipad, learning how to screenshot and post them on the community, a bit of a pain to be honest, much easier the second night on my pc. Well done both and an inspiration to all us low stakes grinders.

Holiday mood is taking over, packed and ready to go, flying very early Thursday morning so poker on a break for a few days, just the last two date sensitive 40c tickets to use today.

Good luck all and have fun. 🥳

60 days update.

Following a wonderful holiday it's back to the grind. Well it's not really a grind but more about that later.

            image.png.3655d04e9f4b40ffcbf1fa2fbc0fd2c1.png

Still ticking over at the centroll level but now only managing to bag about 1 ticket per day, they rarely run to the end of late reg and I only check in with 1 level to go, most have either finished or not even started. I have won a fourth €2 ticket  (two disappointing 2nd places) makes the stats slightly better, and playing the 40c tickets as they are due to expire. The €2 stack is building slowly so I'll be playing those at the start of June.

So with 60 days gone I can see I've only played about 46 hours, even less really as many of the centrolls I'm entering are while I'm playing a 40c tourney, averaging well under an hour a day, (holiday include) so I've been looking at other possibilities as this challenge could take forever and is a touch on the slow side even for me. I could use my BP's and buy 40c or even €2 or €10 tickets but the whole idea was to do it as cheaply as possible and that remains the primary objective, at least for the live challenge. Taking this as the probable yearly challenge I've looked at the Supermoon as the biggest regular monthly tourney and the Supernova as the weekly one, inspired by Nestabear's run last month. I'll take slightly different approaches as I'll flip as far as I can in the Moon, I might as well use the BPs for something, up to €50 and then play the qualifier for a €250 ticket. This is not actually going to increase my playing time much (tracking them might take longer) so the Major centrolls, three daily, are the target. These give tickets of 50c, €1 and €2, each providing different routes upwards so those I'll just play as they come up (I may be flipping at the same time) although the main target will be the weekly Nova.

   Have fun all. 🍻

Just messing about on the iPad while playing a centroll and having locked up the 40c ticket started doing my usual shove-at hon, before I realised it I was quite handily placed so started recording. Occasionally I could hear myself give a cough in the background, if I’d known the sound was on I might have tried a commentary, but here is the raw uncut version.

After about nine weeks of hit and miss playing I feel as thought he routine is up and running. I have had the three Live Centrolls as a regular on my schedule and have now added the Major Centrolls and the regular Supermoon 0.04c flips.

I'm playing the Live Centrolls and flipping 0.40c and €2 tickets and will play €10, €50 and  €250, having managed to get 5 x €10 tickets so far, but leaving them as long as possible to try and build up a good run. I could play 5 in one day but would prefer to play one or two per day when I start. As for the Supermoon that consists of flipping 0.04c, 0.40c and €2 and playing the €10, €50 and of course the €250 target. The Supernova is slightly different as I'm playing the centrolls but the tickets on offer all lead on different paths. The targets are the €2 tickets which I'll flip for a chance to play the €10 and then the €100 weekly, but there are also 0.50c and €1 tickets which can't be used on the same path, so maybe I'll just play whatever comes up first.

A decent start in the Supernova, not so good in the majors, but only 3 played, by the looks of how they play I'm going to need a lot of patience. 😇

Summer has been wonderful weather here for a change and I've found a new enthusiasm for gardening promoted by my new best friend and neighbour, so poker has inevitably slowed down.

I've averaged less than 1 centroll a day since the last update but that is also partly due to the fact that sometimes they don't run and a lot of the time late reg closes early. However logging in yesterday on the off chance I saw that there are now 3 x€2 🎟️ and 15 x €0.40 🎫 on offer. The one I played had more than the usual number of entrants and there were about 10 more players than prizes when late reg closed at the forecast time. Hopefully the advantage is that they now run regularly and don't close early but the disadvantage is that more play is needed to ensure a ticket.

                           Screenshot(4598).png.134ad333fa7a5d700de7a8f8a496258c.png

I've also managed to start on the €10 level and bagged a €50 ticket at my first attempt plus consolation €10 tickets in a couple of others. The €50 🎟️ have a lot longer use by date on them so I can build up my 0.20 and €2 🎫 which I'm going to start playing again rather than flipping. I've also stopped flipping the Supermoon, I just can't be bothered, but may return to them at the end of Summer.

I've also cut down, if that's possible, playing the majors. I won 3 x €0.50 tickets but let them expire, I'm only really interested in the Supernova route and that means winning €2 tickets from the centrolls to continue that path, so slightly harder. I'm also going to get back in the cash streets in the new quarter, not because I'm any more optimistic but because I want to, a good enough reason for me.

Good Running all and Happy Grinding. 🥳

The pace has picked up slightly somewhat since the last update and the change in the prize structure for the centrolls. From what I've seen, not all of them, most seem to start and go to the end of late reg, so I'm picking up more than one per day now.

Screenshot(4662).thumb.png.a63fe96ba6da23ead74622f017e957d0.png

So far this has led to just short of €100 of Live tickets from an initial buyin of €9.17. Four "wins" of 40c cash brings that total down to €7.57, so the plan of a cheap start seems to be working so far.

I'll now be concentrating on playing the 40c and €2 🎟️ and hopefully some €10, not letting them stockpile as in the past but keep turning them over. There's also the community League starting this week with 2 packages to Bucharest on offer, wouldn't it be ironic if I won one of those? ( No, I don't think so either. 😁)

Good Luck All and Have Fun. 🥳

  • 1 month later...

A long overdue update.

I've neglected this column and ticket quest for some weeks due to other more pressing matters, a whole redesign of my garden, a whole restructure of how I play and record poker, a whole reset of my physical condition among other less important things. A settling down of various issues means more time to get back into the collection.

I haven't played any cent rolls for what seems like weeks, and due to aforementioned projects I unfortunately let a few tickets wither and die. I was flipping a few, playing fewer, exchanging some and neglecting more, resulting in completely losing count of results. The upshot is that only my starting stats, the cent rolls, remain complete, but I don't mind as they are the ultimate score, how much I've actually spent.

image.thumb.png.007970595caf3d704f8c78a42d113154.png

That runs at 11.99e less 1.60 cash won back by just missing out in higher qualifiers so actually 10.39 so far. I'm going to start playing the cent rolls again, flip the 0.40 and 2.00, and play the 10.00,  50.00,  and 250.00, starting tonight or tomorrow with the short date 10.00 and try to bag an odd 50.00 or two before playing a few of those. I'd still love to actually win a live ticket but my cash venture, (more of that in another blog) among other things, is taking a fair bit of time so I'm hoping to keep ticking over and not lose sight of the target again.

Happy Grinding All.
