I had my record losing day at the tables today, down €563.

Played and busted a €10 supernova qualifier, a €25 supernova qualifier, the Spectrum, Cosmic Rays, Ice Giant, Nebula, Supernova, Abyss, Dwarf Star and Titan. That's €285 in buy-ins, my only payout was €10,87 in bounties from the Dwarf Star. In the qualifiers, I played and busted the €250 UO final, a €25 and a €4 UK Tour qualifier, and a €10 UO qualifier. The thing I'm most displeased about is the way I busted the Supernova. I made a really bad entitlement-tilt call after rivering two pair when villain could only have sets or a straight.

I guess Sundays like this are something which I'll have to get used to as an MTT player, and I must say I'm not really tilted or worried about it, just some complaining on Twitch was all I needed to get over it. The upside is that this record is the result of the fact that I'm able to play higher buy-ins and a bigger volume than ever before.

Fun fact: I'm actually still up on the weekend 😃

Rough loss on paper due to the high buy-ins, however not really out of the ordinary.

Due to your blog here I decided to put 100 Euro aside and see how I'll do playing MTTs as well.

We're gonna win on so many levels! We're gonna win, win, win. You're gonna get so tired of winning, you're gonna say: "Mr. President please, we don't wanna win anymore, it's too much!" And I'm gonna say: "I'm sorry, we're gonna keep winning because we're gonna make America great again!"

@MathrimC I told you you shouldn't direct buy in to the supernova :p

No but seriously. The losses of this week are a set-up for your biggest weekend next week.

I bet on you getting FT in the supernova and getting your package to Bucharest finally :p

Oh and getting bust by me in the ice giant. I think we can call that a weekly high as well :p

I see now that the circumstances of ones birth are irrelevant... It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.

My post was a suggestion.

Winning the Brighton leg and getting your package trough there would be exactly the same ;p

@MathrimC But you qualified yourself to the 250€ main sat, or not? If you had qualified yourself then why you add it to the buyins? (as you got a ticket for that)

I indeed bought in with a ticket, but a ticket bankroll is also a bankroll. To be more exact I dropped €260 in UO value, €29 in UK Tour value and €274 in cash.

 I hope you'll find some sleep tonight after I gave you nightmares playing that long UO10. If I have time after my poker session, I'll check your stream later and rewatch the best parts. :Thumbsup:

It's ok. I've got something to ease the pain:

I had a good time in Brighton, at what was the most succesful UK Tour event so far, with an over £60k prize pool, 20k more than the guarantee.

Day 1a started great. I had a decent table, felt confident in my play and just hit a lot of flops at the right times. Things turned around in the later levels of the day tough. And when Davitsche joined my table on my right, playing a lot of hands, I just didn't get the right hands to play back with a 30bb stack. I got into shove/reshove territory and eventually busted in the last level of the day.

Day 1b started with Ian Simpson's seminar on check-raising. I liked this one more than his seminar on exploiting weak games. It just had a more strategic analysis. I had a tough but fun table draw on day 1b, with Kelly Saxby and David Lappin joining shortly after. But from the very start I felt a migraine coming up and my pills didn't help. I wasn't able to join in the fun conversations and I felt like my brain was exploding. I had to close my eyes in between hands, and often forgot my cards on the flop. Luckily, I didn't have many close spots, and the big pots I played were quite straightforward. I busted in a standard way near the end of level 6, and was actually quite glad I could go to the hotel and sleep.

On Sunday I felt a lot better, and had a fun day with some gin & tonics, the community game and a side-event. I got third in the community game for a €100 Supernova ticket. Because most of the community players late-regged the side event around the same time, we all ended up at the same table, together with two or three locals who got tilted out of their minds by the preflop raises and 3-bets that they're not used to. One grumpy lady who had been complaining non-stop stormed out of the casino when losing her all-in even before the river hit the felt. Another guy, with Bergie on his right and Raegar and Sg on his left, lasted maybe 3 orbits. At one point, when having his limp raised for the Xth time, he asked the dealer "Are these the guys from the Unibet tournament? Oh..." 🤣 After the table broke, I got reseated on a very soft table, but busted quite fast.

After using two bullets this weekend, I still have one left for the next stop in Manchester and hope to get at least a second one in the coming weeks. I feel more confident with every live event I play, and dealing with pot sizes, positions and profiling players gets easier each time, which leaves more room to concentrate on the strategic stuff like ranging opponents and picking the right lines and sizings. It feels good to improve as a player 😃

October has been a great online month for me. I've switched from SNGs to MTTs and was able to start on a nice upswing, the highlight being a win in the Abyss. In total I'm up €590 after 100 MTTs since the start of the new schedule. Combined with my 4th place finish in the Sunday Entitled on the 1st of October, I'm up more than 1k this month.

Here's the graph for my first 100 MTTs in the new schedule:

And these were my biggest cashes:

Evaluation of monthly goals: October 2017

  • Play 200 SNGs, MTTs and/or qualifiers COMPLETED
    • I played 111 MTTs, 36 UO10s, 1 UO25, 14 UO50s, 2 UO finals, 4 UK1s, 21 UK4s, 18 UK25s, 15 Supernova qualifiers, 18 €10 SNGs and 23 €25 SNGs
  • Study goals
    • Take notes on all the remaining chapters of NL Hold'em For Advanced Players COMPLETED
      • It's hard to overstate how much this book and studying these notes is improving my play.
    • Play 1 hour a week versus PokerSnowie FAILED
      • I've spent maybe 1 hour in PokerSnowie the entire month.
    • Watch at least 2 Run It Once videos every week FAILED
      • I think I watched 4 or 5 videos this month. I did get a lot of useful content from Ryan Laplantes video about 3-betting in MTTs.

October bankroll evolution:

  • cash: €3986,49 -> €5021,39
  • UK Tour tickets: €237 -> €408
  • UO tickets: €440 -> €410

New monthly goals: November 2017

  • Play 200 MTTs, qualifiers and SNGs
  • Study goals:
    • Play 1 hour a week versus PokerSnowie

Congrats @MathrimC! Nice results!

Can i ask what do you think about the 25€ fields on sng and mtt as well?

GL with your november goals!

Since I never grinded on other sites, I can't really compare, but the €25 MTTs are softer than I would have expected. There are some very loose-passive players in the field and also some maniacs making huge overshoves in the early levels or barreling away every hand with rediculous ranges. Even though my sample size is still very small, I do think that I'm a winning player in that field. The €25 SNGs have less of the very bad players and so the winrate is going to be lower and it's harder to judge, I don't have a big enough sample to evaluate those. I would advise you to move up (or take shots) to €25 MTTs as soon as your bankroll allows you. If you confidently beat the €5 games, I think you'll probably also beat the €10 and €25 games, and it will give you a higher hourly income.

That might be the funniest thing I've ever seen at a poker table. JJ v DBergie's AT. Flop xxT and she starts muttering. Another T on the turn. Her coat was on, steam was coming out of her ears, and she was out of the building before the river card had hit the felt.

I think she was also blissfully unaware that she was at the toughest table in the history of £30 donkfests.
