Westie
Hi,For a while now I thought I was going mad.... I would finish a session, close down all tables and inspect my balance to see what I finished my session on. The next day when I log-in, my account balance is less!?! usually by anywhere from $1-$5?! Sometimes more, I think once or twice it's been a bigger value decrease. Now, I know first thing people might say is that some of my recently closed down table balance will still be under 'money in play.' I assure you this is not the case as I always check this.Last night before I closed the software I took a photo of my balance on my phone to make sure I wasn't going crazy. I don't mind posting what the balance difference was if I have to, but would rather a moderator got in touch to check so I did'nt have to post screen shots of my account value. In any case mods, I logged off around 23:37 last night and I've logged in at around 18:45. I have not played between this time, yet my account has gone down.On a side note when I tried to log in to the community section tonight, it showed a logged (I think mine?!) but instead of my email in the credentials box it had something like Unibet_456826284 and the account balance was approximately 50euros less than my actual balance. Please can someone help, many thanks in advance. I assume you account is not in euro? Unibet poker is in Euro. So you initial balance will remain the same but the balance in the lobby will be more or less, depending on the global exchange.
FeelsBadMan
Is your main account (on the website, not in the poker client) in a different currency than euro? That is usually the case when people ask about fluctuations in their balance. The on site balance in your local currency stays the same, but the euro amount changes depending on the daily currency exchange rate. If not then idk, the mods could check it for you. Edit: too slow 😀
Westie
Thanks for the help so far.So - Based on the help so far, yes the euro/ pound exchange rate explains the website balance. I completely missed that there was a £ sign in front. Yet another stupid moment by me on this forum lol...As for the poker client (which is all I actually use, I don't use the website for other gambling) - The issue remains and I do not believe it is a euro/ £ issue. When I deposited my account was transferred to euros. My account balance from the moment I deposit is converted to Euros and I play at the tables in euros, so it shouldn't have to convert from table to home screen - it's all euros till the days I cash out and get it converted. FeelsBadMan
It doesn't get converted to euros, it remains in pounds on your main account (on the site), what you see in the poker client is your pound balance at the current pound-euro exchange rate, and when you buy in a number of pounds get taken from your account equivalent to the exchange rate of whatever buyin you play
Westie
Nope, sorry. My main account balance on my software home screen is shown in Euros. My pounds are converted at day 1 from pounds into euros at the current exchange. I then play in euros till the day I cash out when it is then exchanged at the then current rate. I can show photos if needs be to show what I mean. It would be odd and different to every other poker site if it wasn’t this way. Lets say for arguments sake my main screen account balance was 100euro. I buy in to a table for 10euro. I then cash out 10 Euro. It should be 100euro. But no it’s 99.46. Completely odd. Edit - what I mean is for me it shows my balance at the correct 100euro,, but when I log in the next day it’s like 99.24... or whatever Sorry, not trying to be arrogant but this is just really winding me up. FeelsBadMan
You're not wrong, you're just misunderstanding how it works, and many sites are like this. Your money in your account is in pounds, but since the games in the software are in euro, the software will show the euro equivalent of your balance, which is in pounds. On some sites you can even have multiple currencies, and the poker client will show you the equivalent of all those currencies in whatever currency the games on that site are most often, it's perfectly normal. Westie
So let’s say my account balance shows 1,000EUROS. you are telling me that actually this is meant to be £1,000 and when I cash out there would be no currency fluctuation???i honestly fully appreciate you are helping me but it seems wrong surely my balance would say £ not E?are you saying it’s all done on a micro transaction scale every single time I join/ leave a table?? This is very different to every other site if so.
FeelsBadMan
Yes it's a microtransaction for every "purchase" buyin into tournament cashgames, reload at the table etc. it's the same on many sites, if you have a different base currency, same on stars. You're almost right, if your balance is 1000€ the website should show you approximately 902 pounds, if for 2 months you don't play at all you might log in to see 800€ in your poker client (thanks brexit) but on the website you will still have 902 pounds and you can withdraw that 902pounds. Westie
Wow, if this is the case. Thanks for your help with this. To be fair stars only does it with Euro tables. It absolutely does not do it on dollar tables. Seems a bit odd still.
FeelsBadMan
it does do it with dollar tables if you have your balance in euro (like me) or whatever other currency
Patric-Unibet
Hey @Westie,@FeelsBadMan explained it perfectly.Every transaction you make will be based on the current currency exchange rate, so in some cases you could have more money than before (in EUR), since the GBP is dropping at the moment, you are losing value in terms of EUR. It doesn't just get updated once a day, it gets updated on every transaction (buyin, rebuy, addon, reload, deposit, withdrawal, etc.).If you have your Unibet page open, you can see that your balance remains the same but in the poker software it might change.I know there are sites where you 'transfer' your balance to another product but it doesn't work like this, you can do sportsbetting, play casino and play poker all at the same time with the same balance, the only difference is that poker automatically gets converted into EUR.Hope it's more clear now, we are not stealing any money :)Thanks
VikingsAF
@Westie just to add one last bit on what you said about Pokerstars. There it works differently indeed. If you have only euro's (right after a deposit for example) and you buy-in to a dollar game, the buy in is automatically converted (just like here on Unibet).BUT. If you have any winnings on a MTT (or you cash out from the table in cashgames) they keep the money in dollars and don't automatically transfer it to euro's. To cash out you manually need to transfer it back. They do have a setting though where you can chose to change everything to one currency at all times, but it isn't checked by default. I see now that the circumstances of ones birth are irrelevant... It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.
Westie
Thanks for all of the help guys, much appreciated. Viking, pretty sure I play PLO with you a lot on here. I’m not normally using westie profile though so you won’t recognise me. Cheers all. 😃

Patric-Unibet
I'm not entirely sure how it works on UK market but I know some older accounts have other currencies than GBP since they could choose the currency back then, nowadays some markets can still choose, others can't.We unfortunately can't just change the currency of an account, only a new registration would do that which is only allowed in exceptional cases. Most customers have a EUR account, I'd say, so for them it has no impact, all others will see changes in their EUR balance but as mentioned their main currency balance will remain the same.
