Finnish cold and dark weather is not exactly improving my wellbeing. Feeling quite sick and sinus infection seems lingering, though not a major issue. Don't really like to go outside when it is 5 degrees of celsius, wet and dark. Did play 10 majors @ Monday. 0 cashes, but field wasn't exactly tight... all flips, first one 98s was cold call - cold call line.

Back from the trip. Maspalomas weather was great, not a single drop of rain during over 3 weeks and daytime 25-30 degrees of celsius while bit over 20 degrees during night time. Nice parties, great pubs and awesome food. 3 years without travelling and with very few flus or that kind of thing just probably had lowered my resistance quite a bit, so first got a diarrhea and after that sinus infection made trip a little less nice. Latter infection still running but getting better, not a huge issue because can take it easy. Though on positive side those stuff did make me eat less -> surprise weightloss from around 97 kg to 93 kg. No poker, casino or sportsbook during last month. If I get things running during weekend, I might try to get a shot for next week leaderboard.

Canary Isles trip booked: 6th of October until 31st of October so you better dominate Unibet MTTs while cat is out of the building 🙂

Flights are sometimes super expensive when bought near flight time. I was about to buy a package and come to Unibet Open Malta, but 360€ for one-way ticket with horrible change of flight is just too much. Seems like lots of Finns have same problem - without direct flights it is gonna be expensive flights with changes. I was planning to go from Malta to Spain or right away to Canary Islands, but there were bad flight connections too. So for now just bought one flight: direct flights with Norwegian from Gran Canaria to Helsinki for 31st of October. Costed like 150€ with baggages, and managed to pay it with bonus points. Flight there is gonna be much more expensive, but I can take any route. Maybe few days in Barcelona or somewhere else on my way to Gran Canaria? Well, with no clear timetables I have a chance to make last minute calls.

Decent freeroll. Good to play them from the start as majority of your starting table opponents might be off-line. 10th place from 27$ NLO8 hyper PKO was salty though. Played just those 2 MTTs, woke up (or kept being awake) due to this freeroll.

And yeah, no third deep run at Titan. Had some QQ < AK 100bb flip (though quite well before ITM). Was hoping that would take a bigger fish this time as that PLO8 was only one running after that. Well, that didn't happen: even mincash would've been bigger than yesterday trophy but I was aiming to the major prizes and trophy (and the hand couldn't have been played otherwise even if cards would have been opened).

Shittiest day in a while. Usually don't write from other sites, but gotta share this. Just one mincash (5th place from Comet), and last MTT happened to be 1050$ PLO8 from 55$ sat. Well, you can maybe guess it: 27 left, 24 paid (2000$ mincash, over 37000$ for the win). Get AK32 with being 2nd in chips (at this table) @ button, chipleader of the table opens CO with 7532. 3-bet him, ofc. Whale calls OOP which is horrible line. 952 flop, decent for us (nut low draw with a deuce, opp not likely to hit anything much better). Opponent decides to go in with check-raise all-in with this btm 2 pair and very bad low draw (very likely to be huge underdog against my range) and his 49,7% hand scoops. Shit-shit-shit-shit-shit. And shit once again. Was 16x starting stack megapot, so effectively about 16000$ in value (bit less due to ITM, but I was really probably best player in the field or at least one of the best players, it was super soft with money-scared players and series grinders who don't have a clue about PLO8). Couldn't that überwhale would have either 1) not blowed it up by playing like total moron or 2) run like god with that crappy hand. Time to get real wasted.

Sometimes one MTT is enough to turn the tide. 2nd yesterday, first today.

No Malta for me 😦 Card dead at final satellite, and first push from SB was also the last. Was already hoping for some Southern Europe tour, but prob settling just for spending most of October in Canary Islands (maybe Alicante too). Also bubbled 100€ satellite and winning nothing at regular MTTs (though started session around 2 hours ago) so probably costly day. Just 2 MTTs going... Titan and 20 R/A on other site. Time to open bottle of rum again!

It is salty to lose against shitwhale, but at least statistics (other FT "players", at least this one fought back) were out of the way. 2nd place pays decently:

No luck yesterday, didn't play much else than UOS events though. Still should play 5 events to get that damned expensive freeroll ticket. Was planning to play PKOs today so could concentrate on satellites and other events in Sunday (got 250€ ticket for UO satellite too), but would actually like to take a break. But Supermoon is far too expensive to buy-in directly so would have to play at least 1 event today. Stupid system, with just 5 events per day. Yesterday R/A's were ultra super slow. No wonder if people don't want to play them with 3,5 hours of late registration during Friday evening and almost 7 hours of runtime and not even ITM. Structures have been very horrible at those, especially on lower stake levels.

Quick set including UOS events and 3 satellites. 0 chance in hell at any flips, so over in less than 2 hours except 2€ donkament still going (trophy is far less than buy-ins, even as they were just bit over 100€). 15/25 UOS played for freeroll. Friday events and one another day of grind for that.

No more grinding with 0 cashes, though might try to play 25 UOS events in total (10 played now) to get that freeroll ticket 😄 Planning to play on Friday those R/A's and maybe later evening PKOs, so would have to play 10 UOS events in addition to that. If playing this week, might grind some shots from satellites and play smaller events alongside.

Blast from the past - Malta trip 2009 (some discord stuff posted here, because it is a decent story) Current stuff is gonna bring back memories... my first real long-distance poker trip was EMOP Malta back in 2009. Won a package from Sunday satellite about 4 am in the Monday morning and live MTT started in Tuesday. We walked from Marsaskala (friend of mine had got hotel from there) to Waterfront where casino where tournament was played was located (Casino di Venezia). Too bad we got lost in the wayand 5km via "birdway" became 10 km walk + 10 km taxi trip. Back then packages were 1100€ buy-in + 900€ money so friend took the cheapest place. It was nice, though there were some cockroaches and it costed like 25€/day per room. Breakfast was good! (No cockroaches, mostly fresh eggs and bacon). You know, very cheap student budget and lots of money free for booze instead of choosing some expensive hotel. St George's Park is my choice nowadays if I have to pay for hotel myself 🤣 30€/night or so with perfect location.

Horrible run continues. I actually bubbled that 5r day around 1,5 hours after start of day2, bubble has been in play with 50+ players for over (it was also point bubble) half a hour. Pushed 99 with 15bb, megastack woke up with JJ and off-liner with 0,3bb was like 🤣 Also lost heads-up for 200€ ticket against tight whale, who managed to get full house <<< his quads, trips, more of AKs than I can count for and other stuff like that during our 20+ mins long headsup. Won 2x 50€ tickets so that PLO at least was paid by those and one 100€ ticket, so it was like before: satellites did go rather well, everything else went straight to hell. Have 2x 100€ ticket so prob back for Friday 100€ R/A. Let's see how horrible beat I will find from there! Hopefully I will find that at headsup.

Day would have been decent if not for UOS events. QQ < KJ and JJ < AK at the high one, costing 300€ in total. From satellites got 4x 100€ tickets and 1x 150€ tickets (part from Unibet and part from another network). Sunday satellites seems nice even nowadays. Main events seem quite slow (take too late if one wants to wake up before midday) though. Only day2 came from 5€ UOS edition. Not even ITM, but probably going to play tomorrow UOS events as there's PLO R/A's, after that likely skipping most games unless hit something nice (I noticed that leaderboards pay just for the top spots and only overall and high pays anything meaningful, which is pretty lame as high buy-ins are kinda over the top). Streaming was ok. Did order and new webcam and microphone today, maybe getting to test them next weekend.

Huge grind promos aren't for me, it was proved once again. Probably no UO Malta for me, unless I manage to win seat or package. Though might take a last minute vacation package if find one at right price. For UOS I am bit mixed. Extra prizes aren't great, but with 5 MTTs a day and 8 day long series it might tempt me enough to try and gamble tomorrow events. Maybe some stream, too?

Losing day, but at least got one late night trophy from 2€ PLO. Got another headsup at 2€ freezeout, but opponent did run hotter than hell.

Couldn't have run worse today. 5 final tables, with 5th, 6th, 4th, 7th and 4th position and nasty downswing. First day/night of grinding (it started 00:00 Finnish time but so that tournament end times were ones that mattered so started with Good Luck Mr Gorsky). Terrible card runs, but got last 2 "close but no cigar"-state for both money and points: Setup'd 8 left at Titan, chips in at turn: And last one, pflop flip and river kills it. Would've been 3 points win for leaderboard which are far more valuable than 1st place money.
