  1. Well, here's the facts of the matter, for what it's worth. Poker is a really shitty game. I can't think of a worse game to play for money. Yes, there are some really crappy games out there, but poker is special. You are constantly fighting a love/ hate battle with it. You know you should be winning, you know you are better than your results, but you can't do anything about luck and that's where the struggle comes in. In the game of roulette, you could pick 1 number and it never come in for you, ever. Highly unlikely, but possible. Now compare that to poker, where there are many more variables involved, and you begin to see the problem. You may never win a tournament in your entire life and may go bust reloading at cash games before variance decides you've had enough bad luck. When you look at it in those terms, you're doing ok πŸ™‚ Keep making the best decisions you can and if you don't go broke in the meantime, it will turn around(probably). You already know all this, but sometimes it's just nice to have someone reinforce it.
  2. It is now πŸ™‚ LOL Excellent! I'm using that. So now when someone asks me what I'm playing, I'm playing Ploker because I'm a Ploist. The next person I speak to after a conversation like that, will be a psychiatric nurse i'm sure πŸ˜†
  3. Been a while, so quick update.... Haven't been putting in much volume at all. What may surprise those of you who have followed this blog, is that the little time I have been playing, it's mainly been PLO πŸ˜†. Yeah, the game I hated. It all started with the monthly challenge, when I used PLO to complete some of the challenges. I think it's the mood I've been in lately, where I haven't really had the time or the patience to grind tournaments or NLH, and so PLO seemed to fit in nicely. No time commitment and plenty of action to keep my interest. I got into a bit of a hole with the challenge, mainly due to those damn Hexapro's. PLO is what has actually helped me recover and start heading in the right direction again, all be it, slowly, as I'm not playing much and only at 4PL. It's way too scary for me to even think about moving up, until I am more confident with it. However, considering that I'm basically a PLO beginner, there are some really bad players. I can only assume they are just there simply for a gamble and have money to burn. Which is fair enough. Current BR €583 (had slipped to€525) Oh yes and while I remember. This is me when I flop the stone-cold nuts, go to bet, and then realise I folded pre-flop !
  4. Well yes, otherwise it might not look as good! Pretty pointless way of doing ROI when I think about it because everyone knows what I started with so it's easy to work out πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ As it happens, it was probably quite accurate as I was playing €2<. Not so much now I'm starting to add bigger buy-ins. I'll see if I can get a report at the end of the year and see what it ends up being. LOL possibly but i'll try and do both because I like torturing myself 😁
  5. It's most likely from the construction work, especially if it also involves some demolition work.
  6. Lovely isn't it πŸ™‚ (mind you, I only started with Β£50) Won a handful so far, a few 2nds and 3rd's. A couple of those were around €150 mark which helps a lot at the stakes I'm playing. But It's hard to know with any accuracy without tracking software and I don't have the will to write these things down at the moment. I have great respect for those of you who do. I would say that some of the adjustments I've made, mean that I reach the money less often, but when I do, it's tends to be a deep run.
  7. If I had watched that Wordle video at around 5 mins, before I started playing poker, I never would have started πŸ˜‚
  8. So, I gave in to the 1% and played a €5 because for the first time in a while, I felt like i was in the mood for a 4 or 5hr game. Turned out to be a €10 game because I hadn't realised there was an add-on πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. I had 10k>chips and above avge at the time> from 3k starting stack and the add-on was 7k, so for me it was very borderline to take it or not, plus technically, I was already playing above my BR. With about 3 seconds left to decide, I cringed and took it. Prepared to punch myself in the nuts if I didn't at least win back my outlay. . I would be interested what others think with regard to taking the Add-on in that situation? As it happened, I was fortunate enough to make a nice profit from the game and would have been H/U if I could have held against a FD. The question is, would I have made it, had I not taken the add-on! I honestly don't know for sure. At one point I made a misjudgement when already in the money and went down to just under 3bb. So based on that, you would think the extra chips saved me, would I have taken different decisions in other spots if I didn't have the cushion. I certainly would have had to play more aggressively at points where I would have either been out or won more than the add-on. Also, I never really doubled up to the point where the 7k extra made a difference. On this one, I'm leaning towards believing the add-on was a good choice, but I don't think it was a clear-cut choice at the time. Incidentally, my major misjudgement earlier was I believe out of frustration as much as anything else. Once in the money, I never got a raise through without at least a call. And the BB always defended against my raise. I got AA back to back (never happens to me) and guess what, everyone folded both times πŸ˜‚ Very pleased with my discipline (once in the game ☺️ ) , especially as I was the shorty again when reaching the FT. It was nice to play something other than micro's and a slightly better field (generally). Would I have posted this if I hadn't cashed? Probably not tonight anyway, because I would have still been rolling about in agony! BR= €554 ROI= 1004% (enjoy it while it lasts) ITM = 21%
  9. Sky is incredibly soft and I know of a couple of stables that play there for that reason (or at least used to, may have changed in the last couple of years). I have an account kicking about somewhere but it was so antiquated that I couldn't live with it. They do have the ability to take notes as you say. Which is always nice. That's really my only gripe with UB. Not having the ability to take notes. I think it's great being able to change ID's and not allowing software but I really don't understand why we can't have notes or even just colour coding. Would make life so much easier AND UB would make more money πŸ˜‰
  10. Swimming is the best all round exercise. Just get an all-over body massage with moisturiser πŸ˜‰ win/win As for running...I can't think of anything worse! I would rather get in the ring with Mike Tyson and have my ear bitten off!
  11. BR is fairly stagnant at the moment on Β£395. Every time I should be cruising over the €400 mark, something like this happens..πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Final table all-in pre for CL HU πŸ˜ͺ I always feel when its coming! Don't think I'm playing too well lately. Making some poor decisions but scraping through with the occasional spark of brilliance πŸ€ͺ I'm desperate to start playing €5> , so I decided to play a qualifier to get a ticket, because I'm trying to remain disciplined (99% success rate). I didn't realise it was for a "live" game. Is it possible to have this ticket exchanged for a generic €10 MTT or 2x €5 ? I can't find any details in the lobby to show what or where the live games are going to be held.
  12. I stopped using the auto top-up feature for that reason and because I think it's dangerous if you're having a bad session and just don't realise how bad, until you close and look at your balance ......
  13. When you see the rake displayed as clearly as that, it strikes home just how much of an impact it makes. At least 07condja didn't pay rake, that's the benefit of losing πŸ™‚
  14. Thanks. Funny you should mention that because I was thinking much the same thing when I decided on the figure. However, I figured that having a target of 30% (currently it's 20%) would help me psychologically to try and stay focussed in the game and not start to get reckless or play too many hands because I get bored. Something I struggle with online because of the lack of interaction. Thanks for the offer and I may well take you up on the generous offer if I ever decide to play any volume. In the meantime If I end up playing any for a challenge or whatever, I will probably just go down the route of all-in every hand πŸ˜€. Can't be anymore disastrous!
  15. Interesting read and makes sense(mostly). Thanks.
  16. Congrats on the move! Sucks that you may have to move again though. Personally I prefer full ring games but that's because I have always been a live player and so it's what i'm used to and so suits me better. I guess if they dropped full ring then it would be quite an adjustment for anyone then going to play live.
  17. Well, I just spent what feels like 1/3rd of my life reading all 29 pages of "Metalwolfs" blog and it has inspired me to set a couple of goals. Goal number 1 is to spin my €50 deposit into €10k 12 months from the deposit which will be (hold on whilst I go and check)....Looks like 27th Augusts let's just say by August 31st 2023. I think that's probably reasonable, even online. Goal number 2 is to have a minimum ITM 30% which again I think is reasonable, considering that I have to compensate for the fact that all those daft little freerolls and 10c nano whatsits that I played have been included. Definitely need to stop playing those, except any that I have tickets for. Which is a bit of a shame because they were great for going mental and getting it out of the system.
  18. Well, it's now over well over 3hrs since I was really in the mood to sit down and play some tournaments and came across your blog! Needless to say, I never even got to load the tournament lobby because I came across yours, which is quite a compliment, considering I haven't really had a chance to play much lately. I'm relatively new to Unibet and the forum and so I've been trying to catch up with all the blogs. I'm a bit OCD like that, even though reading for any length of time is difficult for me these days. But I found it very addictive. Mostly I think, because you are one of the very few players that appears to think about the game in a similar way to me. By that I mean you lean more towards playing by instinct and gut feelings, reads, rather than the technical side. I think that is why you, like myself, tend to do better in live games rather than online. I may be wrong but that is how I have interpreted what I have read. Personally, I'm having to try and make huge adjustments to cope with online play as it's now over 2 years since I played live. Sad. Now that the casinos are back open, I wasn't sure if I even wanted to go back but your blog has actually reminded me about the positives of playing live. Not that I would want to go back to it to anywhere near the same degree as I used to, but once in a while. I also like the idea of community games that you mentioned, not sure how to get involved with those but it sounds like fun. There seems to be a good bunch of people on here. Anyway, I noticed that you have taken to doing a few disappearing acts, which is understandable because life has a habit of getting in the way. Life is getting in the way for me too at the moment. However, I was quite disappointed when I got to July this year and there were no further updates, so if you could make a reappearance sometime soon, that would be great. Your blog has also inspired me to set a profit and ITM% goal by the end of the year, which is probably a good thing. Although, like you I only want to play when I feel like it, so it will be dependent on circumstances too, to a degree. I'll have a think and make a note of it in my blog, so I don't forget. I have some memory issues which is why I've forgotten most of the things I was going to respond to from things you mentioned and i'm damned if i'm going back through 29 pages to find them! I do remember this though. You were describing a hand and the end result was that your ego caused you to make a bad call. I think one of the most important lessons that any poker player can learn, is that there is no place for ego in poker. Hard as it is to remove it, it is nearly always detrimental to your game. I don't think anyone can remove it completely and permanently, but I do believe it makes a difference. Particularly when you avoid the scenario that just because you were the original aggressor, you feel the need to follow it through, even though there are times you know it's going to end badly. Oh and there was something about a bounty game where you had JJ early in the game with a 10k stack and UTG opened, another 3 bet to 750 or so and you decided to fold. The main reason i'm folding there 9/10 is because you don't complete the action. If you did then you could possibly call and see what happens but with such a small investment so early on, you don't want to go to war with JJ (probably better off with 45s). GL if you come back and if you don't, well you won't see this anyway πŸ˜‚
  19. Poker is probably the most frustrating game on earth, where you can do everything "right" and still lose and everything "wrong" and still win.
  20. I came across this in Game Lab.... 165 MTT's !!! I'm assuming it must include Freerolls because I doubt I've even played 65 non-freerolls? I didn't realise these stats were available. But now I know they are there, I quite like it because it gives me something to aim for other than just €. Like filling in the little trophies, improve ITM % etc. However, will the stats remain when the levels are reset in a few days? Update: Current BR= $398 Note to self: Self, stop playing Hex's πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ
