Tennis retirement rules

Hi,

I've been looking for these rules in help and support but can't find something very clear.

How many sets need to be played for a bet to be considered won if a player retires?

Because sometimes when a player retires bets are either settled as won (if the bet is on the opponent) either as void but I can't seem to find when. I know it needs a minimum of sets played but there's also different sorts of matches as a Grand Slam is played to the best of 5 sets for the men. So I'd like to clear that up once and for all.

Thanks for the answer.

Hi @Mysengrima

One full set has to be completed for the winner bets to stand. Here is the relevant section from the terms and conditions:

2) “Match” bet offers are based on the general principle of tournament progress or tournament win,
depending on which phase of the competition the match refers to. The player/team progressing to the
next round or winning the tournament is to be considered as the winner of the bet regardless of
withdrawals, disqualifications, etc. These bets require at least one set to be completed for bets to stand.

You can also check the full tennis rules from the Sportsbook T&C, if you wish from the following link:

Sportsbook T&C ( tennis specific rules start from page 57 )

Hoping this clears things up. Tennis retirement rules can be a tough cookie sometimes  🙂👍

Hello Purps and thanks a lot for your answer.

That's exactly what I was looking for but just couldn't find it so thanks.

I also wasn't sure if it was the same for a match in 3 sets or 5 sets for instance so now I know it's the same for everything.

I might check if it's the same rules for any individual sport (badminton, table tennis, squash...)
