  1. Ummm... that's just probability being probability. In poker, you're seldom way ahead and you're seldom way behind. Not saying you or your opponent are either but the edge a good player has on a poor player is really not that great. If there were no bad beats, no outdraws, poker sites would be empty. A pro player once said that you should welcome the bad beats; they should be your friends; because if you suffer more of them than anyone else you're doing the right thing. In the long term, you're a winning player. Easier said than done, but correct. Blaming the software is the equivalent of blaming a rigged deck; it has been done on every incarnation of every poker site since online poker began. Proven cases are so few and far between I could name them, and they wouldn't be happening at these stakes.
  2. Pretty sure that's a no, bud.
  3. Hi @GothMoth Do you play the sit and gos under the same name as on here? Long floppy haired avatar? Its the first time I’ve recognised a name on the forum from the tables.
  4. I know others post names and pics. Was just saying I wouldn’t do it myself @RedHotChiliP . Poker client - yeah a couple of button issues when using a tablet; most annoying when you aim for the close window (x) and instead connect with the advert that takes you out of the app and onto the web. Then have to log back into the app. But for playing at higher levels, other stuff: Not being able to view the lobby in a sit and go before the game starts. At cheapo levels I don’t care who I play. Higher up I don’t want to sit at a table with 4 drums, knowing it’s going to turn into an all-in bingo fest at the end. I’d want a ‘Fold’ button where now there is only ‘Check’, as a weapon against clock runners. And on the cash tables I’d want to see the players and where the spare seats are before sitting in. In a couple of months I’ve had about a dozen names but I see players using the same names all the time (or having similar names which leave no doubt who it is). No point having free information if you can’t use it.
  5. Incidentally the ‘unconscious incompetence’ thing - it’s not an insult; we’ve all been there, if not at poker, at something else. It’s just when there’s money involved it’s not a stage of learning you want to stay in very long. When I first played online I’d learned the hand ranks and about the button and the blinds and thought “Yep, I’m ready to play.” The move to conscious incompetence took me about 10 minutes as I realised I hadn’t considered position and had not a fecking clue how much to bet at any stage of the hand. These days when I see someone bet out 40 chips into a 500 chip pot I cringe, knowing that was once me. The Dunning-Kruger thing with Trump and Brexit - now that is an insult. But then they deserve it.
  6. It’s an Internet forum @FeelsBadMan and I guess @RedHotChiliP is free to post whatever he likes (within the rules) just as you’re free to criticise that. To be honest it’s one of the politest forums I’ve been on . Where I agree with you is with the naming of the opponents, rather than it being a general moan or rant or whatever it is. Personally, I wouldn’t use the names or the pictures - I think it’s a bit unfair as, (it seems), they’re not here to reply. Re the other question Chili, now I’m just messing about in the low end stakes games, mainly sit and gos but I’ll play anything. The higher levels don’t appeal any more. These days I like playing where I don’t have to watch the other players, or concentrate, or indeed barely look at the table, and where a string of bad beats has zero emotional impact. Currently teaching my partner to play so happily knobbing about in the cheap seats. There are a lot of good things about playing on Unibet, especially for a beginner. Equally there are what I see as flaws in the poker client that would stop me playing at the higher levels even if I got the urge to shift up.
  7. Good point @FeelsBadMan Incidentally, if you want to see unconscious incompetence laid bare, play the low stakes hold ‘em on here. Everyone has the identical game. ie. If it’s folded round they stick in 3x the B.B to steal the blinds. If you’re doing what everyone else is doing, you’re playing for the house. You can’t make money - not in the long term. And yet it happens. It’s ironic that what would have been considered good play in the early days of online poker is now so prevalent, it’s bad play. What used to be bad play; flat call and see the flop is now the contrarian move that opens the window to a profit. Compare that to STTs where blind stealing isn’t very common, but where flat calling and praying/hoping is. It’s weird that the same players engage in those opposite techniques in the two forms of poker.
  8. The 4 stages of learning @RedHotChiliP 1. Unconscious incompetence 2. Conscious incompetence 3. Conscious competence 4. Unconscious competence No matter where a player is on that scale, there’s a reason to play poker. Stage 1 is covered by the Dunning-Kruger Effect which also gave us Trump and Brexit. First rule of Fight Club - you do not talk about Fight Club. First rule of the Dunning-Kruger Club? You don’t know you’re in the Dunning-Kruger Club.
  9. I used to do that when I played 9 seater STTs, especially in the first couple of hands. If I got AA in early position I'd stick all the chips in. More often than not someone will call. Folk love a gamble.
  10. I can’t remember the exact details now @RedHotChiliP and on an iPad it’s a faff to look back on the forum while typing but... 1. I’d be absolutely amazed if he thought through his action. On here, almost certainly someone just entranced by suited cards and how much better they are than unsuited (even though they’re not). So he thought, “I’ll have a punt.” 2. If, however, you do sit and think about it... a) I seem to remember he had you well covered so his call is unlikely to be the difference between him winning the tournament and losing it. b) By calling I’m assuming that pushes him further up the prize board if he wins the hand - so there’s that immediate reward for the winning call c) The call itself is not as bad as it first appears. Again, he wouldn’t have thought about it but: You (presumably) wouldn’t push with AA. You’d want a customer. Ditto KK (unlikely because you’re holding one). Again since he has a K, he might conclude the chances of you having one are reduced. Unlikely then he’ll be dominated by say K-J. So, hands he’s scared of are mid pairs - where he’s only about 30% . In the case of you having the ace, he’s 40% and a stack of outs. But of course you might also be jamming with Q-J, Q-10, J-10 etc, in which case he’s favourite. I wouldn’t make the call personally but I think it’s easy to think it’s worse than it is. What does make it pretty bad though is that he wouldn’t have thought about any of the above 😀
  11. Embrace the outdraws and bad beats Chili - it means you went in ahead and that's all you can ever do. You can drub the player; you will never beat the cards. 😃
  12. I don't understand the problem, Chilli? Surely if you knew what hand he had you'd have been begging for the call. You lost a 60-40. It's hardly the greatest outdraw in history. Shrug and move on, mate.
  13. Hi. Quick question: Doing the March Mission. Knocking up 200 BBs in Omaha (Part 5) is like the room in hell where Crossroads is still on the tele. Is there any way to see how many you've posted? Or more pertinently, how close am I to finishing this onerous task? Cheers.
