My First experience of Unibet UK Tour Nottingham

Got back in at 5.15 am after a fantastic weekend. Was gonna write an essay but nah would be too much for you to plough through. Leave that to the bloggers.

Took my non playing poker friend with me, not a clue about anything but she came along for support anyway. Met Iany, Emsy, Lappin, Dara, Bergie, Satu, Davitsche, Diava, Ben, mathrim, nmpfan, remk, hensie all the rest of the unibet crew. Also the highlight of my trip was meeting the gorgeous and handsomest little man on the UK tour, Hunter and his wonderful mom Saron.

As for poker, day1A wasn't really feeling it, didn't get any cards and was bullied a bit by the players on the table. But hey, never mind it's all great experience and learned a lot. When the boss (Simon) says Donna can I have a word with you for 5 minutes, my first thought was oh £$%$"£ what have I done.  I was lucky enough to be given a second chance and enter day 1B by Simon, just their little way of saying thank you for something I love to do and somehow have a natural flair for. I nearly turned it down and wanted someone else to play for me. But somehow Simon twisted my arm and after the pit boss said on your on table ? and seat ? straight away I said nope not happening am having a drink first and will late reg it.  I felt a lot more comfortable playing on day 2. I even ended up with Dara to my left and played a hand where I managed to get him to hold his hands to his head and think what the hell has she got. Btw the board had 4 diamonds on it. I can't remember if I went all in or not now but I know I did something. After re looking at my cards with the diamond that came on the river, Dara thought I had the A of D and he said if I fold will you show. So out of respect or sheer crazyness I showed the 3 of Diamonds. Lucky I got that one past him as he folded the k of Diamonds. Stayed in till nearly end of level 11 but didn't sit down till about 8ish and this was now around 11.45 or something stupid like that.

Oh forgot to mention Ian's seminar. Was very intresting and informative and well thought through. Could have been a little bit longer which would have been fine. Thank you for that @IanSimpson.

Day 2 and final day.

Left the hotel at 12 decided to just choose a road and follow it and just explore and try random roads. Ended up at a nice little pub for a quick drink then head back to notts. Had to get a new bulb for the headlight, that was a saga in itself and maybe a story for on twitch or another time. Was well after 3pm when finally arrived at Alea so was in a bit of a tizzy and also very hot as was sweltering out side. Got asked if was going to join in comms freeroll. Said yes so ended up on Iany's table. Sat down no chips in front of me as still waiting for them to arrive. When they did arrive I caused complete chaos, folding out of turn, putting wrong chips in all sorts. Luckily the table was very forgiving as they knew it was me and Iany helped. Well am not happy with Iany what so ever. He dealt me Aces! Yep I got the bullets. Remembered what he said about not limping so raised to 3k as blinds were pretty high but not enough to cripple me. Cannot remember what came on the flop but I had one caller. I decided to go all in and after a while thinking about it the other player called. Basically my aces got cracked by a straight! Still say he rigged the cards ;) (only joking) The one that ko'd me couldn't apologise enough. But those that know me on twitch know it didn't really bother me as it happens, it's poker. Was just having fun enjoying myself.

Ladies event.

Daiva did the ladies proud, prosecco was flowing and we sat down to our ladies only sng. My friend April not a clue how to play poker, hand rankings etc was hilarious. Calling nearly every hand, out flopping everyone on the table without even realising it which was even funnier. Think the funniest comment was when Daiva flopped a set and April turned over her cards and said oh looks like she's lost then. Not realising she's flopped the nut straight. I came 4th for a 50 euro ticket. Emma came 3rd, I must say she had definately got a poker career ahead of her if she chooses to do so. Then the heads up battle between Daiva and Satu. With Satu becoming the first ladies unibet champion. Something that all the ladies was very pleased about.

During the final table, was chatting to players that had already played and doing my bit asking if they knew about twitch etc. Yes they had but they usually watch the bigger poker players. So asked them why not watch the ambassadors streams then. I mod there, you now know me so come and say hi and join in the fun. I even got asked if I was going to belgium to play in the belgium championships. Apparently beautiful scenery and beaches.

Watched an amazing final table and saw how the game was really played. Well done to everyone on the final table and the winner. Also unlucky to @hensipensie for bubbling it, silly bugger lol. After the game was over and everything was sorted hung out in poker chatting with everyone. Then got invited over to the hotel at 2 am went across all of us only to be told the bar was closed, so back to the casino we went.  Sat round the final unibet table and some of them decided to have a game of joker poker  with the mini chips and the cards. I could see people stood outside the rail itching to get a game of what ever was playing. I then got asked by some bloke if I worked for Unibet poker. I said no sorry I don't but what's up? He asked me if we had a spare deck of cards as they wanted to play a game, so said would ask and came back and apologised as it was only the one the guys had got to play with. Said thanks and off he toddles.

I really must say Joker poker with me, hensie and satu freerolling was so funny and so much fun.

I know i'm going to kick  myself for saying this as I would really like to have another chance to win another package as next stop is Brighton. It's like shooting myself in the foot so to speak. If you haven't made it to a UK tour yet then you really are missing out. It really is like one big family. They really do look after all players of all abilities and the tournament director Doug and his pit boss and staff and all the dealers were totally fantastic, even if I did impale one with my real nails lol, they also make sure that things run smoothly. I think also the regulars at the Alea Casino really did not only themselves but the casino proud. Lots of great fun, banter and good chat going off and not a cross word was said. So hats off to those players too who also helped make the tournament what it was.

Well enough waffling from me. Now sat with my feet up on the settee chilling and trying to get rid of the cramps in my sides from laughing so much. Thank you all for making my first ever experience so special. Ok I lied about an essay but it's a lot shorter than it could have been :P

See you all on a Twitch stream soon.

@Kitch it was lots of fun. If I didn't feel so tired I would be able to think of words to really describe it but think said it all in the post above. There's still Manchester after Brighton to aim for. As for getting more experience around poker. There is always the freerolls that run every day on the site. Think they are a lot harder to run deep in as players play a lot wider. But it will give you more experience than just sitting there and thinking about it and not playing poker. You can cut your teeth so to speak on those. I do have someone who comes on the twitch streams and is part of our twitch family that has made a significant amount of money from freerolls. So it can be done. Theres a lot less pressure on you having results and cashing so to speak until you feel comfortable enough to start playing the proper tourneys again. You will have to come on the twitch streams if you don't already and join in the fun and banter. They also give away tickets and have freerolls too. If you do make yourself known to me and you will be welcomed into our twitch family.

Good write up! Have to just highlight one thing you said which I never really mentioned over the weekend but it's defo a great point to make. The locals defo did themselves proud. I didn't see one proper blow up and other than the odd annoyed comment everyone behaved exceptionally. Not just in the casino. I went out on my own all day Saturday to watch the football and see the nightlife. Forest were on the TV against Leeds in the football so the place was buzzing. But even as a Wolves fan I was welcomed in with open arms and met quite a few really friendly people to enjoy the day with. Well done Notts.

oh there was a few that seemed to be on perma tilt and spat the dummy but even then they wasn't aggressive towards anyone else just annoyed at themselves really.

I really was being polite when I put about me trying to get seated straight away for day 1b for those that met me should know what I actually said.
