Players from all over have come together to begin what promises to be an exciting and riveting few days of poker.

We started last night with the high roller, in which xx players made it through to Day 2 in the hope of getting their piece of the so far £170,000 prize pool. All but one of the Unibet ambassadors that registered are still in, as David Lappin unfortunately busted late last night.

Big moments from the high roller will be brought to you here on the blog, but the main focus will be on Day 1A of the main event. As always, don't hesitate to get involved here on the community website, and if there's anyone you'd like an update on, be sure to let me know and Ill do my best to do so.

NMPfan looking for a repeat of Nottingham

Unibet Community's very own Adrian Nica - otherwise known as @FeelsBadMan has taken his seat here on Day 1A in Bucharest and is looking for another deep run like he achieved in Nottingham on the UK Tour.

Adrian came 2nd and chopped the prize pool three ways in Nottingham, taking home a cool £8966. He also won a package for this very event in virtue of coming 2nd, so he'll be hoping the Nottingham run good has transferred all the way here to Bucharest. Good luck @FeelsBadMan!

Simon Griffin involved in a big pot

Unibet community regular @sgriff is down to 15k early on in Day 1A here in Bucharest, mostly because of a recent hand he was happy to share with me.

After a raise and a call pre-flop, Simon defended his big blind with 8x5x, to the see a flop of 6 9 7.

Simon checked to the pre-flop aggressor who c-bet, to which the other flatter pre-flop re-raised. With the 2nd nuts, Simon 3-bets and gets a fold from the original raiser, and a flat from the flop re-raiser

Simon then bets around 50% pot on the turn which is a 9c, making the board 6 9 7 9, and the other player, in position, calls.

The river comes the 5d, making the board 69 7 9 5 and Simon now checks. His opponent doesn't hesitate and takes four of his 5k chips and places them in the middle, effectively putting Simon all-in.

After a long tank and stare down at his opponent, Simon reluctantly folds in what was around a 40k pot.

A strange one for sure that resulted in a very big lay down from @sgriff, but was it the right decision? What would you have done in his spot? Let us know be replying to the thread.

FIRST BREAK

We have just reached our first break here in Bucharest and three players have busted and had their chance of being a Unibet Open champion quashed.

Romanian pro Tudor Purice, who has over $300,000 in live cashes is one of the more well known players playing today and he is sat at a table with the community's own @whereisrivaldo.

@whereisrivaldo sits on a stack of around 25k, so not the worst start from a 30k starting stack, more than enough time to run it back up!

Simon Griffin hasn't had the best of starts but he'll be hoping he can work his stack back up after the big lay down he made earlier.

More updates on the Unibet community players and other players to come as we proceed into the middle stages of Day 1A.

In other news, the high roller has started again, so I will be also giving some updates about big talking points in that tournament as well as updates of notable names.

HIGH ROLLER UPDATE26955008129_1f330a6809_o.thumb.jpg.5b0d1711ec0aef58bcc69ea028413d4a.jpgRegistration has closed for the Unibet Open Bucharest high roller, with a total of 99 players generating a prize pool of over 190,000.

Unibet ambassador Espen 'Uhlen' Jorstad has busted the high roller and has subsequently registered the main event, whereas supernova winner Ian Simpson is up over 100k after betting three streets and eventually getting a fold from small blind who flatted pre.

Both Dara O'Kearney and Rauno Tahvonen also remain as the high roller starts to get into its stride with just over 50 players remaining.

MAIN EVENT

Unibet players struggling

We're well into Day 1A of the main event here in Bucharest and some of the Unibet players are finding it tough out there in the field.

First of all we have lost community member Simon Griffin, who whittled down to 10bbs and seemingly just couldn't get anything going again after his big and tough lay down earlier. Unlucky @sgriff, maybe next time!

Elsewhere in the field, Unibet ambassador Daiva Byrne has also had a tough start to the day, as she is down to around 8k after a few pots haven't gone her way, and community member @jonny2192 is also down to around 5k which is around the 10bb mark.36662036581_36e1d60712_o.thumb.jpg.b01f0057e5b6fef5d3577b3f66648f99.jpg

On the positive side of things, Tim Bruneel otherwise known here as @MathrimC, is up to around 45k and looking solid here on Day 1A. Hopefully the rest of the Unibet players can join him in getting a workable stack again.

Dara doubles up

36675879661_e5425d3c77_o.thumb.jpg.f05bde45c3b2c52e54ada2f7ddf10062.jpgWe're down to the final three tables in the high roller, and Unibet ambassador Dara O'Kearney has found a double up at just the right time.

With the blinds at 1500/3000, he picked up 88 in the HJ and proceeded to shove his 50k stack. The SB reshoved with AQ and a standard flip commenced.

The flop was J T 6, giving 4 more outs to Dara's opponent in the form of a K. The turn came a T giving him a J as an out too, but a 5 on the river was enough to confirm Dara's double up.

MAIN EVENT UPDATE

With one level to go until late registration closes, Day 1A is now taking shape. 96 players remain out of the 167 players that entered and the chip leader is Romanian player Marius Pertea, who has over 200k.

Other notable names still in the main event include Unibet ambassador Daiva Byrne, who has nursed a short stack for most of the day but now sits on around 38k after getting in JJ vs A3. It wasn't the conventional hold Daiva had in mind though, as she thought she was out when she saw an Ace on the flop, only for a Jack to hit the turn and have A3 drawing dead.

Unibet community players @FeelsBadMan and @whereisrivaldo have both had swingy days so far but find themselves on around 30k, which was the starting stack for the tournament.

HIGH ROLLER

We're on the bubble...still!

The bubble is still looming here at the high roller event in Bucharest, with 14 remaining and 13 getting paid, players have tightened up to make sure they make the money.

There has been plenty of all in and calls which have resulted in the short stack doubling up, so the bubble continues to go on.

One of those double up hands involved a sick cooler on the feature table, when Dara O'Kearney shoved over a button in the small blind, only for Jason Gray in the BB to re-ship with AA. Dara winced as he saw the bad news that his QQ was way behind. Dara was on his way out.

However, the flop had other ideas.

K Q 9 all clubs meant that Dara flopped a set but Jason had the nut flush draw as he held the Ace of clubs.

Luckily for Dara, the turn and river were an off suit Jack and 7, and his flopped set held.

HIGH ROLLER

The bubble has burst!

We are in the money here at the Unibet Open Bucharest 2017 high roller event.

After a long and drawn out wait, the bubble has finally burst, with Dorin Rauta the unlucky man in question.

The Romanian has over $150,000 in live cashes, but couldn't add to that as he got it all in with a short stack with AJ suited against the 99 of Olvedo Heinze.

The board ran out: 8 5 4 8 T, and Dorin was out of the tournament.24857954528_28e8bb1928_o.thumb.jpg.d00942a5c4950483177f2591ea5e1d31.jpgWhich means Heinze, along with 12 others including Unibet ambassador Dara O'Kearney and two-time Unibet Open winner Mateusz Moolhuizen have at least made the minimum cash of over €4,100. Well played guys!

MAIN EVENT

Day 1A comes to an end

We have come to a close on Day 1A here at the Unibet Open in Bucharest.

39 players out the 167 entrants have made it through to Day 2, with the Romanian Andrei Grimberg having the most chips with a stack of 325,500.

Two Unibet community players also made it through to Day 2, @MathrimC and @pirahn who have 52,500 and 153,000 respectively. Well done guys, hopefully you can push on when Day 2 comes!36679385801_e568a6f385_o.thumb.jpg.ac20668edf6c30fc9a717c08093b544e.jpg

The high roller event is now on the final table, and unfortunately Unibet ambassador Dara O'Kearney bubbled the final table but still took home a nice €4785. Nine players remain to battle it out for that €55,000 up top.

That concludes the coverage for today folks, I'll be back tomorrow giving coverage of Day 2 so please do get involved and let me know of anyone you would like updates on. Good night!
