Unibet Open Copenhagen is down to 16 players heading into the final day of play at Casino Copenhagen, and Finland’s Evgueny Ievkov leads the way with 1,389,000 chips.

Unibet Open Copenhagen drew a total crowd of 376 players in this freeze-out tournament, of which 53 places ended up getting paid.

The day started with 134 players, all looking to lock up a cash before chasing down a seat on the final table.

Two-time Unibet Open champion Mateusz Moolhuizen started Day 2 with very little chips, but despite a quick double up he was sent to the rail empty-handed. Moolhuizen busted out with ace-queen, as the pocket pair of his opponent held up.

A little while after Moolhuizen’s departure, Theis Vad Hennebjerre’s run for back-to-back titles ended. Hennebjerre ran a five-high straight into Lasse Haagensen’s seven high straight, and the local player was knocked out.

Ian Simpson was responsible for the money bubble bursting, as he knocked out Thomas Jespersen in 54th place. Simpson held ace-eight and flopped an ace against Jespersen’s sevens, guaranteeing all remaining players a payday worth DKK 14,600 (€1,961).

In the post-bubble flurry of eliminations the tournament lost start-of-the-day chip leader 904121452_pressreleaseUOday2pic2.thumb.jpg.9ccfb254188140efecb091dad668dd3c.jpgHaci Bayram, renowned Dutch poker pro Jorn Walthaus, long-time pro Age Spets, and former EPT Copenhagen runner-up Soren Jensen.

Ievkov grabbed the lead when Jasper Van Vlasselaer mistimed his bluff, and the Belgian player bagged up one of the smaller stacks of the remaining field.

The Unibet Open has never seen an American champion, but Patrick Coughlin could change that as he's headed into the final day second in chips. Coughlin bagged up just over a million chips, followed by Day 1a chip leader Mudassar Khan as the third player to bag seven figures.

Unibet Open regular Soren Blanner's looking for his first final table, and the same goes for Dutchman Johan Goslings, who's been close twice before.

All players remaining players are guaranteed DKK 36,800 (€4,943) and the winner will walk away DKK 525,000 (€70,514) richer when it’s all said and done tomorrow.

Play resumes on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. local time, and the live stream with hole cards up kicks off at 1:30 p.m. Make sure to tune in from the start, as the live stream will run continuously without breaks until there is a Unibet Open Copenhagen champion!

Well done Joni Liimatta, a worthy champion of the Unibet Open Copenhagen.

Congratulations to everybody at Unibet on another fantastic Unibet Open.

The twitch stream really gives you a great feel for the tournament, and David and Marc are superb together in the commentary booth.

Looking forward to Bucharest.

David and Marc were incredible, made the streams very exciting to watch. They were the main reason I got up at 6AM to watch the streams from the start. Lots of generous giveaways as well. I look forward to the next Unibet Open.

Congrats to Joni Liimatta on the win 😃

I debate
Should I smile like everything's good and pretend that life is great
Or should I let the world see the real me and not hide this pain
I tried to be like the rest of y'all, sorry I just can't
I'ma probably die this way

Best comment. Perfect score: 5/7

Again, I want to thank all of you guys for tuning in every day. I really feel like everyone involved in the stream is on the same page. I know we won't be able to please everyone with our banter and bulls**t, but that's just how the world works. I could come up with some corny analogy about the tournament is King, but you guys are the Aces, therefor 80% of the time should be about you. But that's too corny, so I'm not going to.
