Hello all lovely ladies, hope you are all well and are running good at the tables. Just wanted to give you a quick update on the Ladies event in Bucharest.

It was a fantastic tournament with lots of fun. We got 16 runners including a couple girls who played live poker for the first time. We had prosecco flowing and a beautiful trophy for the winner. It was a very friendly game and everybody seem to be enjoying themselves. We also had a big rail of supporters and spectators which added to the great atmosphere in the poker room :)

Here is a very kind media article on the Ladies Event in Bucharest written by Madeleine Harper: :Hearts:

Zainescu wins Ladies Event

Romanian poker pro Carmen Zainescu took down yesterday’s Ladies Event at Unibet Open Bucharest after beating Holland’s Dehlia de Jong heads-up to seize the title, €557 first prize and special trophy. Zainescu, who hails from Ploiesti, already has live tournament winnings of more than $58k.

There were 16 entries in total for the €110 buy in tournament which was hosted by Unibet Ambassador Daiva “Baltic Blonde” Byrne.
Daiva, who finished fifth for €100, said: “It was a huge success. We had girls from Malta, Romania, Israel, Netherlands, Norway and Germany as well as me from Lithuania. It was all very international. Carmen came in all serious, put on her sunglasses and said: ‘I’m winning this event, I want the trophy’ and she did!’”

De Jong, who works for a Dutch TV company, was attending Unibet Open Bucharest with her boyfriend Mateusz Moolhuizen. She won €405 for her runner-up finish while Romania’s Mirela Penciu was third for €280 and Dutch player Marion Adriaans finished fourth for €210.

Daiva added: “Dehlia got super unlucky for most of her chips versus Carmen with four left. She had KK to Carmen’s AQ; it was all in pre-flop and Carmen hit an ace on the river. It was basically the winning pot.”

Daiva has been instrumental in fostering a strong, supportive and friendly environment for female poker players of all kinds. Her popular ‘Ladies of Unibet Poker’ Facebook page now has more than 1000 members.
