Removal of NL/PL800

Hi all,

Hope you all enjoyed the holidays, just wanted to let you know that we will remove NL800 and PL800 cash games from the lobby on December 31st, indefinitely. There are a number of reasons for this but primarily, those games are damaging the ecology at higher stakes. Our mission has always been to build a sustainable poker site and after 9 months of running those games, we'd gathered enough data to be able to say for sure that the impact is a net negative. We also don't rake enough from those games to allow us to run any sort of meaningful promotions there, with high stakes leaderboards often only paying 1x - 3x buyins at NL/PL800 for 1st place.

We will be running a new ongoing high stakes promotion from February onwards, the full details of which we'll share in the coming weeks. The value will be €10k per week and it will be aimed at losing players. We'll also be doing something soon for those players who ran particularly badly at NL800 in 2017.

I think that eliminating the 800 stakes is a mistake. With this logic you should eliminate 400NL too.

You have to admit that poker on UNIBET is dead on 50NL+ stakes until late afternoon, even now on Hollidays. You should do some promotions for playing in those dead hours instead of rewarding loosers.

Regarding promotions, instead of removing the 800 games, you should have just excluded this stakes from the promotions. It's not worse than "aiming loosing players with promotions".

I agree that high stakes have been quiet over the holidays but this was to be expected, traffic seemed good up until the 24th. NL25 and NL50 could do with some attention from our side but a site our size is going to have fairly low traffic until late afternoon at higher stakes.

Removing NL800 from promotions wouldn't work, if anything that stake required more promotion to get it going more regularly.

Good decision, i  wrote about it when you added this stakes. When somebody loose too fast it is very bad for all.

ps: early birds is not great promotion, 10% boost cant motivate to play :)

Glad Unibet scrapped it as it needed constant rake races to keep it afloat. 

No shame in trying it though.  If a site doesn't fail a few times a year with new ideas than it's not trying hard enough.
