I was going to call it my poker journey, but Fifa 17 The Journey just came out, so feel obligated to go with something else like Adventure
A little about me I'm 29 years old, I'm like 90% sure on that. Live in Canada which isn't the best, it's ok. Favorite city is London, England not the one in Canada.
The point of this adventure is I am definitely a crazy chicken because what I am attempting to do is create a life from nothing.
I have punted off thousands in slot machines, lost in sports, up pretty good in poker. That being said the thousands wasn't in one day it's like lose 100 here or there betting .40/spin over long time. It's not like i was betting $10/spin and just punted it off quick it was slow and steady. When looking at my profit charts on other sites that I play on there all pretty sick looking as they go up like a fictional stock market chart for a ponzi scheme. I use to think I was one of the best stud hi lo players because at one point I had like a 50% winning mtt record (not cash but win the tourney) and planned on playing the 10,000 and 1,500 events at the wsop. Never got a chance to and now I'm not sure how good I am at the game probably just a solid player. I've had moderate success in Hold'em but bigger success in mixed games till about a year ago I decided to not play on Stars again for various reasons. Since that is the mixed game capital I am now a primary hold'em player with some omaha cash game experience. I've recently been focused on satellites and have had some great runs and solid scores and that leads me to this journey.
I've tried to turn nothing into everything and I've had people scam me out of staking deals etc, lost I would say 10 months of my life because of the last one as it is taken till now to get another shot at starting my life. Now I guess I should mention I have a chronic disease that is really painful, it's like being just in pain all day which isn't very fun and even though free health care in Canada, the better surgery option isn't available and I mean significantly better option and I have to pay out of pocket, also need some dental work for sure that ain't covered. In the end it's about $30,000 maybe closer to 50k is my goal to just get myself to who I should be and relatively healthy till something else pops up. So despite me just floating around turning nothing into something and then using all my winnings each month to pay my bills and start back at 0 again, this is where I'm taking the shot.
I'm heading to Europe with a few hundred dollars not a thousand dollars on a one way flight with no chance of being able to afford a way home. I booked the cheapest flight possible amazing deal $235 canadian gets me to london with only 1 stop (way more to fly back). That leaves this Wednesday gets in London Thursday, one night in a hostel before the long bus ride to glasgow getting there at 510 and hopin into Day 1A of Unibet Open Glasgow UK.
I also won a 550 pound entry to a tourney that I can use while over there in Nottingham and won a 888 pound seat to a tourney in London on the 21st to 24th.
(Fun Fact won the Unibet Glasgow seat when I started at 1 euro and ran the board. Won the 550 pound from 1 cent and won the 888 pound with hotel for 3 nights and $250 US for Free.) Less then 2 pounds total obviously I spend more on satellites that weren't those that didn't result in seats.
So 3 tourneys a few hundred dollars and I'm heading one way across the ocean with no safety net what so ever. If I min cash in any of the 3 tourneys I'm good to go but obviously it's an mtt with 10% to 15% payouts I'm assuming. Also it's super easy to not cash in 3 mtt's. But I'm pretty good when I have to play my best, I have some big winner take all wins, so it'll be fun for sure. I don't have my Yoshi Avatar to strike fear into my opponents at the live tables but I do have a shot and sometimes you have to just jump and fight to survive.
I think it'll be hilarious in like 3 weeks where I'm like livin in the streets here using the library computer to send this update
Another Side Note: I think it'll be fun in bubble situations if one arise, how nitty will I be
I wish you the best of luck mate. I think it's too much of a gamble if not cashing will result in potential homelessness, especially in a different country. Hopefully you have a backup plan in case the worst does happen.
You're definitely taking a great risk here (I certainly wouldn't have the guts to do something like that) but I can understand the hope of making a better life for yourself and given your current situation I assume you've weighed all the pros and cons before making your decision. But please, just make sure you have some kind of plan B to fall back on in case things don't work out. That said, I wish you the very best of luck and hope you reach all your goals.
All I can say is your mad/brave/carzy/ballsy and a few other hundred descriptive words.
I wish you the best of luck.
If the worst comes to the worst(hope it doesnt) then I will skip Manchester and let you play my seat on a 50/50 stake.
Good luck gain, and good luck just to make sure.
I wish you the best of luck, too.
Did you win the 888poker package today? I played a freeroll today and finished 20ish, when 15 people got paid
I also won a 550GBP package for nottingham on partypoker Just like you. Do you already know what 550- event you are gonna play?
UL to get that close today for youin the freeroll. I won the one last week had same format. 571 entrants 15 got packages. I might play the one on Saturday the big game, depending on a few factors, probably like 75% I'll play it. Just to try and get a cash on opening weekend for me so no stress and I can chill till the one on 21st to 24th.
That's sweet you got same path as me and got the 550GBP.
Definitely going to play the one on 15th hopefully win my way or get a 2nd seat for that one. since 250kGBP is ridiculous for a 109 starting.
Then obviously the big 550GBP at end of month same thing for the wpt with a mil pounds gtd.
As I have the 3 events locked I'm trying to run up more seats from $1.10 and fill up the schedule.
Let me know which your playing.
This is crazy!
Crazy it is.
Of course I wish you the best of luck and I can't wait to follow your adventure. But don't you think you should give Canadian tv a call so they can make a programme about it? In that way you could get paid and have a sort of safety net.
Anybody in here working at BBC or something?
Or do you have a good camera/camera phone yourself?
