Challenge for Belgians !!??

Check_Norris

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Very disappointed today by logging in ...

I no longer see the "challenge" tab ... I guess we are more entitled to it by being Belgian !?

New Belgian legislation is one thing ... But that you do not communicate at all on this subject, it is unacceptable !!

We will be sending out communication about it asap. This has all happened really fast, and the top priority has been to remove it.

We're of course extremely sorry about this situation, but it's not like we had a choice in the end. Lower rake on a market level is not technically possible today :(

Gambling is pretty much over for Belgians. Especially on Unibet. No replacement of the easter calender they have everywhere else etc... what a shame :)

@TDW Unfortunately it wasn't possible to create a parallel calendar promotion for Belgians that would follow the new legislation. The most important for us in this process is to follow the rules for the market we're operating in, and as such the focus is to make sure we're being compliant and not issuing promotions that doesn't work within the new rules. These are the decisions we must make as a company, even though they can seem disheartening as a player.

I'm curious about your comment "Especially on Unibet" though and I hope you might explain a bit further: How are we different from other sites in this regard?

Not sure what is allowed at this time still, but I do know the Belgian legistation is a joke!

Would it maybe be possible to have a monthly Belgians only freeroll? That way there is at least some form of rakeback.
Depending on how much rake you paid, you would get entry to a €1K, €5K or a €10K freeroll or something? 😃

@JeppeL

It's been a month since I asked the question ... (https://www.unibetcommunity.com/t5/General-Poker/Bonuses-and-promotions-for-Belgian-players/td-p/315980) I was "answered" if we want ... But we don't deserve a news?

To answer your question on "other sites ...", Bwin (partypoker) had also withdrawn all promotions and recently, the rakeback offer came back for example ...

Sorry, but I just have the feeling that Unibet simply forgets us ...
It does not matter if the Belgian community is not large enough in your eyes, I will put my money elsewhere ... (Regret, I liked unibet before ...)

Hey @JeppeL, of course its possible to create a parallel calender promotion with other stuff that is still OK according to the law.

Btw, any chance you could elaborate or link to the new laws?

Let's just compare Unibet with another Belgian casino that I will not name explicitly.

Personal oddboosts:

Okay, unibet has a few specific "boosted odds" on a game barely anyone cares about (OK the market is ofc extremely small at the moment....):

2.8 --> 3.25 (mildy interesting)

8.0-->9.0 (not interesting at all)

5.8-->7 (not interesting)

PS.: not trying to come over as an ass, just stating what i notice :)

@Check_Norris, I think you have to understand that we don't have a clear list showing exactly what's legal and what's not. It often comes down to interpretation of a law which isn't very detailed, and then we have to act on instructions from the regulatory bodies.

We're of course doing everything we can to offer the best experience in Belgium - it's a big market for us - and it's not like we're just removing the rakeback for the fun of it. The number one priority will always be to stay compliant, and I can't really comment on what a specific competitor is doing and whether that's legal or not.

@Stubbe-Unibet

If you never tell us anything, we won't know ... (your competitors are communicating with them)

You will also be able to understand that it does not matter to me whether it is legal or not, that the law is open to interpretation ... If one room offers me something and another nothing, I think I know where I will go ...

Is it possible to know concretely what we have as promotions at home or is it too much asked?

@Check_Norris, right now there's nothing poker promo related for Belgian players. This might change in the future, but we've been asked not to offer challenges/rakeback in Belgium, and then we of course remove them. The changes haven't exactly been planned a long time ahead, so we couldn't really notify you, and what you requested in the past was impossible to give. I can't say how it'll be in Belgium in 2 weeks/months/years.

If another site is offering rakeback, I of course understand what you're saying, but I can't comment on what other sites are doing, and I can't really comment on the legality aspect in general, as I'm no lawyer, and I'm not one to comment officially on that; I can only express my own personal opinion on the matter.

@TDW, afraid I don't have such link, and I'm also afraid it won't help you a lot. As I mentioned above, the law itself doesn't go that much into detail, so it's a question of interpretation in many cases and then feedback/instructions from the regulator :)

Can not Unibet takes legal actions against this new law? After some researches, it seems all this mess started from a complaint of a company named Rocoluc which doesn't even operate poker (from my understanding)..How this is even possible??

hello,

very unfortunate, especially for us the players.

we now have a disavantage vs other players from other countries because they have promotions, rakeback, freerolls etc.

Idiotic law because this doesn't let us play less, it does let us play more to get the same win $ as we would have otherwise.

Hey @Check_Norris,

I'm afraid it will be the same for the Community League as well. I will check the leaderboard and then decide how to pay out BE players on it. I will update this to the League page as well. I wish I could just keep it in but unfortunately it's not possible now.

@Schelle  @Check_Norris  @fasteR  @KrustyTheClown

This is exactly what happend to Sweden last year. That also went completly without communication and we have not been given a cent in rakeback or promotions since. At the time we were also about 6 months into the community leaderboard with a UO package for first and I was in a very clear lead but I was cut out without given any kind of compensation.

Another leaderboard that was through an external partner did pay out and we got the quarterly payouts but that was it.

I think that the only fair thing to do is to lower the rake, the other countries get both rakeback AND all the leaderboards, promotions etc. Basicly this means that Swedes and Belgs pay for the other countries promotions.

Since it probably wouldent be allowed to lower the rake for just swedes and belgs I think the only solution is to lower rake for all players and change the rakeback system to something that provides fun and value for the allowed countries but that is not payed for by Swedes and Belgs!
