A fun alternative to Casino tournaments

I really like the BetUp feature and was wondering if it would be possible to do something similar in the casino as an alternative to regular tournaments? I've actually seen this done on another site (not sure if I'm allowed to mention which?) with great success, so it's something I think would benefit both the players and Unibet - and it would be really fun for everyone! :)

Here's basically how it works: You buy in to a tournament for a certain amount of money, and there can be either a progressive or a guaranteed prizepool. Each player gets a pre-set number of spins on a designated slot and have to finish their spins in a certain amount of time, maybe an hour, and earn points for each win. Note that these spins do not generate any real money. When the time is up, the top 3-100 players with the highest scores win cash prizes, depending on the size of the prizepool. If you do freerolls the prizes could be freespins instead of cash. There can also be quick sit and go tournaments with only 10-15 players.

This might be more a suggestion for the Casino as a whole, but you could also use this to set up special promotions and freerolls for community members.

I love this suggestion for a new type casino tournament and I'm excited to see what others will say about it!

Just for good measure I want to let you know, that I've moved the topic to the casino board, as it was more of a casino suggestion than one about the community :)

Thanks for moving the post, I wasn't sure where to put it. On that note it would be nice if there was a board where you could post suggestions for the Unibet site as well, not just the community. :)

That'll be coming later this year. We're working on an idea sharing platform as part of the community, where you can also vote on eachothers ideas, see the status of the ideas etc. :)

I like the idea.  I think I have seen something similar at few sites where Im not allowed to play, because it is not for my "region". If it would be for a small "buy in" and "same for all" kind of tournament Im all in. If you add "rebuys" and all that kind of stuff then it is not fun anymore. Everyone should have the equal chance to win!

Great idea. I participate on this kind of freeroll tournament on other site long time ago, and i liked it, actually thats the time i started to use the casino some day. Based on my experience i guess it can be a good marketing as well, offering low (and high) stake buy-in tournaments, and people who win can fall in love with your slots. ❤️

Yeah, the whole idea is that it should be equal for all. :smileyhappy: I know they have some rebuy tournaments at the site I mentioned in my first post, but I'm not a fan of those either, so if Unibet decide to introduce these types of tournaments in the future I hope they only make them "freezeout" style.

Hey all,

I actually started out working with Poker many years ago and this idea is obviously very similar to a poker tournament. The idea in itself is interesting and we currently evaluate many fun concepts. Cannot say if this one will make it or not but definately in the mix.

Thanks for all input and please continue to develop the idea - i.e. features, functions, types of tournaments etc.

Have a good Friday,

Fredrik

Sounds great, @Fredrik-Unibet, I'll just keep my fingers crossed that this gets the approval then. :) Btw, do you think it would be possible to do this with play money and/or regular freespins, or would you need to develop some kind of new software to keep these tournaments in a contained environment? In that case, maybe you could use the poker client as a base somehow. Because, yes, the set-up would be quite similar to a poker tournament - except you get spins instead of chips. :smileyhappy: I'm no programming wiz, so I don't know if it's even possible, but it's a suggestion anyway. :smileytongue:

Hi

There are obviously many different ways a product like this could work but I think it would be most interesting to allow a range of buy-in values and free rolls, different prizes and tournament structures. So all in all very similar to poker. If we would go ahead with the idea I am pretty sure it would be outside of the poker client for several reasons but it is an interesting thought. At Unibet, our casino, poker and bingo teams are close to each other and we share the common interest in product development and gaming. I am sure that we will come up with some cool products that I hope many people will enjoy.

Have a good Saturday!

Since they would work pretty much the same way, I was thinking more along the lines that the developers might be able to use the poker client as a kind of "blueprint" for the casino tournament software to make things easier. But I suppose there are property rights and such to consider as well, so that would probably only work if you hire the same company to do it. :smileyembarrassed:
