Direct X10

The launch of the new client has brought troubles for quite a few you, the main problem seems to be  a needed update of DirectX in regards to the video card. We've been in touch with the poker team and they confirm, that the following step by step guide is viable fix.

DirectX 12 is installed to Windows 10 by default. However, it doesn not mean that the video card you have support directX 11 or higher levels.
Could you please try to:
1) download this http://mcdnf.relaxg.com/chew/clients/dx10patch.zip
2) Run dx10patch.exe
3) In popup navigate to folder where poker 2.0 is installed and select Unibet Poker.exe
4) Launch Unibet poker
Please also make sure to to update your graphic card drivers.

We've seen quite a large number of topics posted about these issues, and we've decided to add them all together in this topic in order to better keep track of it. If you've followed the instructions above and you're still experiencing issues, please let us know and we'll report them individually for the poker team to look at.

The new client unfortunately can't technically run on Windows XP or Windows Vista, so if you're using one of these two operating systems, for the time being you'll have to run Unibet Poker via the web browser.

@mugmaster200, you can change your background by clicking on the up arrow next to your alias, from the lobby, then click on "Profile". From there, you have a background picture that you can click on to change it. We'll add a feature to change your background from the table itself but as you can imagine, it's not a priority at the moment.

@SCOBY, our focus is on Download desktop clients for PC and Mac at the moment. We don't have a lot of reports complaning about the Android client at the moment but we'll investigate as soon as possible. I know you've told me that you are on Android 4.4 but you haven't told me what Android device you're using exactly (e.g. Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0). That would help us reproducing the issue you're facing.

@ArtyMcFly, I've asked our devs. Will let you know asap. In the meantime, have you tried updating your graphical card driver?
From this list, you can also find the latest version of DirectX that works on your operating system and re-instal it: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/179113#bookmark-list%20of%20the%20latest%20directx%20versions

@Gogo, Windows 10 automatically updates to DirectX 12 even if you graphical card doesn't work with Direct X12. The first thing you should try is to update your graphical card drivers and let us know if it didn't fix the issue.

@clochard72, Thanks, I've passed the video to the devs. Could you please search for "dxdiag" on windows search and post a screenshot of it? It would help them reproducing it to be able to fix the problem as it doesn't happen on all configs.

@Camilio, @cris1285, @Grannen, We don't know yet if having 1.0 client back is possible and what are the pros and cons. We'll let you know once we know more.

@Gogo, Thanks for your report about re-buy. I've passed it to the devs.

@schlomo, Could you please let me know which Android device and OS you use?

@ChirpyChip, can you please look at @clochard72 videos and confirm you're experiencing the same issue. Could you please search for "dxdiag" on windows search and post a screenshot of it?

Thanks for responding Chris. I managed to "get rid of" the patch by re-installing the client into a different folder and using an app to clean up my registry, so the client does at least work again with my initial settings. I've updated my graphics card driver, and made sure I've got the most recent DirectX for my Win 7 OS, but the animations etc are still very slow. I understand this is a common problem even with high powered systems, so I guess I'll just have to put up with the glitches until the devs have worked out what's wrong with the code. I wish them good luck! Cheers.

I can finally log in and play on the new client. Happy that I can play again, buth my first impression isn't good; Hate the 4 coloured deck, it runs sloow, schabby. Not mutch fun playing like this. Hope I get used to it, or that it soon improves because i always loved playing on unibet buth getting annoyed wile playing even when I get a good run  won't keep me here for long

The positive

  • You can finally see your folded cards without them merging with the background
  • Reloading at the tables is a bit faster I guess

I wish I had more to write here but I do not.

The negative

  • If I have already checked the fold to any bet-button I dont want to hear the alert sound when my hand gets folded. This should be a really easy issue to fix.
  • Client crashes repeatedly
  • Still no option to autoreload.
  • Client interferes with Twitch streams especially the UO Bucharest one (sort of amusing)
  • You cant even see the pot size of the previous pot or what the winner had, why remove that dealer chat in the bottom left? Or why not have it at all for that matter?
  • The broadway cards are really indistinct without the 4 color deck and there should be several options of both 4 color deck and normal look to choose from.
  • The new hand replayer is a complete joke. It is extremely slow and you should be able to see the cards in players hands from the beginning if the hand went to showdown. Also show my own cards as soon as I start the hand replayer.
  • No possibility of copying a hand history to clipboard to add it to pokerhand.org or other hand history viewing site to be able to share a hand played with friends. I know this has to do with you not wanting to make it possible to use tracking programs but surely there must be some way where you can block the tracking programs from gaining access to the hand history? Also the tracking programs should get negated enough by the ability that players can change names whenever they want to.
  • Just now I couldnt even open a new table, just says "waiting for hand to start" and nothing happens.
  • Still no option to add player notes even though they can be negated by people being able to change their names it might be useful in a short term perspective.
  • Still possible to rathole something which have never been possible on any other poker site I've played at in 10+ years. If one leaves the table and changes name and sits down again the person should have the same balance as they left with.
  • Make it possible to remove casino game buttons on the table. If I have never played a casino game in my life I wont start it because I have those buttons in my face but they annoy the hell out of me when I missclick them and have to close the window that pops up all the time.

In conclusion the client is so unstable right now that it is a hazard for peoples bankroll to play when it can crash in the middle of a hand and you get timed out and lose money because of it. This client looks and feels like it was made as a stressed high school project. It is so far away from the awesome Unibet client during the B2B era which was clean sleek really good looking and worked perfectly.

The old client wasn't good so I was hoping that the new one we had been waiting for so long was gonna blow us away with awe, it blew me away allright. Away from playing and paying rake to your site cause this is a huge joke to let the players betatest a far from finished product and they lose money in the process whilst doing so!

I know poker these days is only a miniscule part of Unibet but take better care of your players otherwise I wouldnt be surprised if at least 15-25% left just cause of this new alpha version client. I am definitely looking at other fully functioning options.

My disappointment is huge.

I haven't been able to play this month at all. Just black box when i try to open client. Many messages and emails with support but nothing has happened. I have tried all things they have told me to do but nothing works.

Man i played so much last 2months to gain all those points and now when i could hit bigger prizes i can't even play. Im so dissapointed at this time to unibet which has been my favorite site before. Sad

Hi @ArtyMcFly,

DirectX patch is meant to run the game on DirectX 10 for those who have graphical cards that don't support DirectX 11+.

To revert your changes, you can follow this video instructions but at then, instead of adding Unibet Poker.exe to the list, it should already be there and you should remove it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-qsPyZfAJw

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

@Chris-Unibet,

I  removed unibet.exe from the list and it worked!

I just played a short session and it didn't crash once. I'll try a long session later today and see if it can hold up.

Thanks!

I was browsing the community last night and managed to use the client and play some hands. Had to download drivers for my Nvidia graphics card but today I could barely play as either the table crashed or the client in the middle of the hand. I use Windows 7 Home Premium SP1. Now my question is that would it be better if I bought a new computer with Windows 10 or are these issues completely on your end? Here are some screenshots of my system and my log file.

Hi @Mordocai,

If I have already checked the fold to any bet-button I dont want to hear the alert sound when my hand gets folded.

Thanks, I've reported it. In the meantime you can remove the "alert" sound if you prefer but that means you wouldn't get any sound when it's your time to act.

Client crashes repeatedly

We're investigating. What helps us is: - what crashes was it ("unibet poker stopped working" message; table freeze; other) - as many details on what was happening before the issue (tables opened; any action from you etc.) - dxdiag / config

Still no option to autoreload.
When someone doesn't use this feature, it's very likely he is a weak player and we don't want a weak player to be identified as weak for anything other than his way of playing. We can reopen the discussion in few weeks though. As you can imagine, that's not something we'll look at now
Client interferes with Twitch streams especially the UO Bucharest one (sort of amusing)
What do you mean?
You cant even see the pot size of the previous pot or what the winner had, why remove that dealer chat in the bottom left? Or why not have it at all for that matter?
We have a hand replayer to see what happened on the previous hand(s) and an info box to see what happened earlier during your current hand. Dealer chat can also be used to build trackers (screen scraping).
The broadway cards are really indistinct without the 4 color deck and there should be several options of both 4 color deck and normal look to choose from.
We've changed the 2 color deck an hour ago (it doesn't need a release). We also want to let players choose between different decks but that will come later.
The new hand replayer is a complete joke. It is extremely slow and you should be able to see the cards in players hands from the beginning if the hand went to showdown. Also show my own cards as soon as I start the hand replayer.
We're planning to change it so that it shows the end of the previous hand (e.g. your cards, the last street and opponent cards if there's a showdown). We also want it to have his own background to make it easier to differentiate from tables On your machine, is it slow for everything or for a specific action, e.g. to open; to replay a hand; to navigate from one hand to another...
Tracker, Huds, Notes
In the long term we wan't to let players export hand, probably to our own replayer. Even though players can change their aliases, we won't allow trackers to work on Unibet though. We don't plan to allow notes either. I think it's better to not re-open the discussion on that thread but we it can be discussed on a non specific 2.0 troubles thread.
Still possible to rathole something which have never been possible on any other poker site I've played at in 10+ years. If one leaves the table and changes name and sits down again the person should have the same balance as they left with.
At some point we'll add the following rule: If you leave a table with between 50 to 100bb and join it again soon after, you'll need to join it with the same amount of money. We will probably let players rathole for over 100bb though. Again, probably a discussion to have here but we can discuss it again when we get closer to a point where this will be prioritized.
Make it possible to remove casino game buttons on the table. If I have never played a casino game in my life I wont start it because I have those buttons in my face but they annoy the hell out of me when I missclick them and have to close the window that pops up all the time.
At the moment we're discussing having a confirmation box after clicking on a casino icon from the table. Its likely there are other improvements we can make but for now we're not thinking about removing them (or letting players remove them).

I  agree with most of what Mordocai said. I don't have the DirectX issues mentioned in this thread, but still extremely disappointed. Don't know if this thread is the place for it but here's my review:

The old version was one of the best poker software I played on, way ahead of anything else except maybe Stars, which is known for its top software quality. It moved smooth, looked great yet simple, loved it. The decline in quality after this upgrade is UNREAL to me, I don't understand how something so good can become so bad. A few bits of text pops up over other text (for example WAITING FOR BLINDS takes way too much space), and everything generally looks so cluttered and hard to decipher compared to the old client. I blame the new aspect ratio of the tables for this, specifically reduced height.

I sometimes liked to fire up 6 tables for fun, which used to fit pretty well on my standard full-hd monitor, without much clipping. But now it's impossible to fit them, the new tables are way too wide for no good reason and they just pop up over large portions of one another if I zoom them to a comfortable level (the way Unibet arranges them they look way too small with tons of unused space at the bottom), so it's really not possible to fit them well. Also client crashes for me when opening a new table sometimes, I never had that happen before.

Also I used to  'remove animations' from settings because they were distracting to me. Now they are even moreso with all the extra clutter, but the option to remove them no longer exists!

The only positives for me: the new 4-color deck looks great, new audio settings.

Some very good points there from GoroWins. The first annoying bug I noticed was the way rebuy-option was working. In the previous client you could top-up your stack as soon as you have made a decision in the hand and now it only works when the hand is finished/someone else made a decision after you or something.

This problem was obvious after playing the maximum of 30 minutes last night. Now Unibet had all the time to test the new client with professional players, developers etc. So obviously this is where all the trouble comes from. You are working with the wrong people...just bear this in mind as it is so clear that this clien should never have been released in its infant. (And never listen to those who insist on auto-rebuys or even hand replayers/hand histories) Your concept would die in that minute.

Wow. I just arrived from Unibet open Bucharest, updated the software and I have to say I'm megabombed... I can't believe that this updated software hasn't been tested better?

I have win7 and if I do the patch like it's said in the instructions I get the black box of death like everyone. If I remove the patch I get the window which says I need a DirectX 11 compatible video card and driver. Here's some screen shots from my DirectX Diagnostic Tool: http://puu.sh/sFinW/f4a9b3cd27.pnghttp://puu.sh/sFios/a5406ebe57.png. Do you know if there's some other drivers that I have to update and where should I do that?

I'm just praying that you would return the old version which FINALLY started working well. It's such a shame if people can't play the last month of this period properly when they are finally getting to complete the big bonus steps which they have been aiming for thw whole period with the challenge points.

The first time I tried the new beta web client it froze everything and nearly crashed my computer, so I went back to using the 1.0 browser version - until they removed that too and I had to settle with the downloaded 1.0 client (which I'd previously discarded in favour of the browser version because it was so slow). But at least it worked!

Since they forced the 2.0 update I have not been able to play at all, because

a) The downloaded 2.0 client is not supported by my OS and I can't buy a new computer or update my OS. (And I shouldn't have to! just to play poker - because in the end it's Unibet's responsibility to make sure that their software works for everyone that they want using it.)

And b) every time I attempt to open the 2.0 web client all I get is 20+ minutes of watching the loading screen, getting absolutely nowhere. (Oh, I did get in once!  But then everything was moving in slooow motion so it was impossible to play anyway. It's supposed to use less resources than the old one? That's simply not true!)

And Unibet's brilliant solution to the problem? Completely ignore me and everyone else who has stated over and over again that they can't play at all. Because yes, that's exactly what it feels like. But you do realize that your stubbornness to not do a rollback (or at least bring the 1.0 back simultaneously while you fix the issues) only means you'll be losing a big chunk of your player base, right? Not because we want to leave, but because you're giving us no other choice. I hope you're giving that some serious thought while you're weighing your pros and cons.

EVERY other pokerclient runs perfect in my machine. This graphic-madness in 2.0 is completely insane. Roll back!  Sad

Manager who approved launch of so untested software should be fired. Very unprofessional decision. Just web client is usable. On  W10 client crashes every 15 minutes. Will start to use just after special announcement from Unibet IT team.

Add 2 more tables in web interface and then client will be much less needed.

I haven't succeed either in playing poker on Unibet since this update to 2.0. I contacted the Unibet support several times and all they told me is that many players have this problem with the empty screen. One of the employees gave me a list with the things I have to do, I tryed to do it but I still can't open the poker client. I think it's a lack of proffesionalism too. I had a very good oppinion about Unibet before that, but this had ruined it.

Unistalling the client through Windows Settings>System and then re-installing it to another folder led to a gigantic reducuction on the load on the CPU. Now 3-tabling uses about 6% of my i7 vs. the previous 80%.

Personally I prefer the current table size, as 4 tables fit my display perfectly. I understand that people 6-tabling face the problem of the tables being too wide. Solution: Fully adjustable table size with varying aspect ratio? Possible?

The two reasons for frequent crashes on my computer:

  1. The hand re-player is super unstable. Browsing thru the hands or the actions too rapidly crashes the client.
  2. Re-loading during an all-in just to be safe and the winning the hand leads to a non-responsive client.

I feel the same as you. Before this mess Unibet was number one for poker. Now? Just a ruin. I have also been in contact with support and unfortunately they are not proffessional at all when it comes to this matter. Great shame.  Sad

I like that 2.06 allows the switching off of animations and blurred avatars, but doing so doesn't seem to have any effect on the "lag" for me. My other programs are still being sluggish when the client is open, although the CPU load of the poker client is actually tiny. It's quite mysterious.

I also had a random disconnection in my latest session. I shall persevere, however, and I'm glad to see that the Unibet staff are working hard to get things fixed and keep us updated.

Also, to follow up on what GoroWins said... why is there a bloody big clock on every table? As much as I like knowing when my dinner is ready, (I usually use the smoke alarm for that!) I think the clock display on the table is just unnecessary clutter.
