@DoktorAvalanche I'm still only playing the earlier ones which actually seem to be making 3 tickets most of the time (17 players ) so hadn't noticed. To be honest I'm thinking of taking a break, the poor bad insane reckless stupid clueless players  variance is killing me at the moment, although I'm hanging on to my stack. I'm virtually just playing tickets as they come due with less and less enthusiasm, I really don't think I could win a flip with a rigged coin. :teardrop:  I won't carry on moaning as I'm so against it in other threads, so maybe time to pause and study more, concentrate on the football for a month or three, and try again after a rest. I can't give up, my precious mountain would crumble, so it's minimum play for a bit till the confidence returns. 👍

Can YOU win a coin flip against me.

Call, heads or tails?

Gr1z do you think that the lack of anything tangible could be the reason for your loss of motivation?  For me, other than the actual card game, what got me hooked on poker is the excitement of building a bankroll, moving up stakes, challenging myself higher etc which is why when I tested a method of depositing say £200 as a bankroll each day and withdrawing any profit/reloading any losses each day I found that motivation waned quickly as it became very monotonous and there was no real sense of achievement as all profit just went into a bank account I don't even look at.  Might just be me but I feel like you've been in this ticket grind for a long time and because the top prizes are so infrequent you're almost missing any dopamine rush that attracts us in the first place?

Just a thought, gl mate.

@DoktorAvalanche and @Brocky Thanks for the feedback.

I don't think not actually attaining the end goal is the problem at the moment, for me winning a ticket in a €5 UK sattie when I'm 8th of 8 with 3 tickets on offer is almost as big a buzz as I need, yet another small step on the path to the goal, I think that my biggest problem is volume. When I'm on the proverbial downswing I'm just never playing enough to pull out of it, 5 or 6 satties a day and 1 or 2 hours cash, losing for 3 or 4 days in a row seems to be forever, when in reality it's just a small session loss for the regulars. You probably lose more HU battles in a day than I lose in a week or more. I'm wanting to get rid of the UK and UO €1 tickets (doing a good job so far :teardrop:) as they are spread out over the whole day, and I'm not willing to play over a 12 hour period, so I can concentrate on the UK 5 and UO €10, but then the problem becomes there's even fewer of those satties, only one UK a night and 3-4 UO, probably the worst time for me to play. I do watch a lot of films and sport but try not to while playing, but obviously these are only going to run in the evenings when there's the traffic. Therefore I'm going to make them a special case, play them 2 or 3 evenings a week and the finals as and when (if) I'm in front. I'm also beginning to think I'm too overprotective of the ticket stash, I like to see it grow rather than shrink, so give up too easily on a downswing, maybe I should play and record my actual results, something I've never really been good at.

The cash game seems to run the same, I'll have a few good sessions in a row then get completely crushed by what appears to me to be bad or lucky players. I have no one watching my play, I'm pretty sure I'll have glaringly obvious leaks to an observer, but again a few hours at a time is all I want or need, so a downswing is going to be weeks rather than days. Nathan Williams reckons 100,000 hands downswing is nothing to worry about, and Matt Berkey thinks you'll probably never truly get to grips with live variance over a lifetime, so my small sessions are really insignificant ( they just seem personally bad at the time ).  I'd be interested to hear from the serious grinders here about their long runs, good or bad, they'd definitely put mine in perspective.

So the new schedule (starting next Monday) is two tables of cash in the afternoon, with an absolute definite non-negotiable stop loss of 2 buy ins or stop win of doubling up, the evening UK €5 sattie at least twice a week, 3 or 4 other things permitting, and the weekly finals as and when I've tickets. If I lose or win it won't be a massive amount either way, just enough to scratch the itch.

Happy Grinding All. 👍

Does anybody want a pile of useless UK €1 tickets, they don't seem any use to me.

Now it's not just the river beating me down but combination sucker punches of turn and river combined.

I get that sometimes too. I'm actually only really playing things like the UK Tour cent and freerolls because the rungood has well and truly left the building. There's less incentive to play the 1>5 UK Tour sats at the moment because they only pay two and that combined with some horrible beats has left me spending more time on sports betting than poker

Hold on to your tickets @GR1ZZL3R you'll feel more like playing them soon no doubt.

Onwards and upwards..

Edit: Nice 3rd place in the NFL oracle last night :)

Just when you think you've seen some bad runs and things can't get any worse they can and do. I really cannot believe some of the hands I've lost over the last 4 days but I'm not going to dwell on them. Friday night I sat at the computer in shock and disbelief, honestly wondering how such a horrific run could come about, and seriously thinking I'll never get over it, but there is a stubborn streak in me that just cannot quit, so what can I do about it. Time to sit back and think long and hard.

Now I know I'm not playing badly, if anything I may have improved a little bit from playing satties, I have more patience, pick better spots, recognise player types more easily, know more or less when to attack and when to defend and what with, PSS by Dara really is helping. The cards fall as the cards fall, there's absolutely nothing to be done in that respect, so no problem there. I'm actually  beginning to think it's a mental problem when I'm not looking forward to playing, scared to get involved because I'm expecting the worst every time, but to be honest I don't think I'm tilting on the tables but tilting mentally before and after play. I've sort of brushed over the mental aspects in the past, meditation, yoga, mental exercises and such, "No, that's not for me" kind of attitude, but there is so much talked about it by so many, they can't all be wrong can they? I've taken the step and downloaded "The Mental Game of Poker" by Jared Tendler, read the first 4 chapters and so far I'm on board with it. As it happens I won't be able to play much this week, I'm away from home a few days for familly reasons, nothing major, and I'll only be able to play the odd sattie on the phone, as and when expiry dates dictate. Somehow I never feel totally in control doing that, probably a mental issue, so it coincides with taking a breather and getting my head screwed on right.

It's not all doom and gloom though, there are chinks of positivity here and there.

€20 freebet from the Oracle comp turned out nice.👍

Picked up another €20 freebet this week for 3rd place and snuck onto the overall leaderboard.👍 and somehow picked up a couple of UK €50 tickets amongst all the carnage, and yes I was lucky in a couple of spots. All in with AK>A10, flop Q,10,4, turn 10, river J. It's never 100% against you, no matter how bad it seems.

Thanks for the support guys, run good and stay positive.

@GR1ZZL3R  if no one else rise the hand, I would like to get some interest in this bussiness :happyshy: Let's do this for you/me :speechless:

@GR1ZZL3R  Take my appologize for yesterday comment, please. Seems like I was a bit way too "out of my bussiness" only God knows why is it so ...

I would like to say that I feel your story and I see myself commited into "loosing" money last weeks as well. My bad is that it is not only just because of variance ...

Wish you all the best, run good and enjoy your journey! 👍 Congratulations for making money in ongoing competitions as well. Keep focused and fight your way :cash:

Don't worry @MadAdo my comment was made out of sheer frustration and I like many others would be willing to share tickets out, but that does not seem possible at the moment. Keep grinding though and good luck.👍

Hi @CuteRaven I played the UO Tour in Dublin at the back end of 2018 when I won a raffled package, great experience for my first live play. I keep promising myself to go play at my local casino which I've been a member of for over a year but never got round to it yet. Definitely on the to do list.

@GR1ZZL3R For me going to my local casinos are fun as a "social event" (though my winrates are probably positive there). The stakes are higher and action slower than online, but especially if you go with friends I think it can be quite fun. The stakes are currently a bit high though at my local casino for me to be a regular customer :P
