Hi @DoktorAvalanche I'm playing all my UK €1 this week and have now got 24 x €5 so hopefully I'll play every night next week. Time is now pressing on the Manchester run, about 10 weekly finals to go, so will start my run up next week.

A change in the weather meant more time outside so not a great deal of poker this week. I held on in the Moving On Up freeroll for €8.08, played the minimum number of flops in the 5-10 cash games for €11.01 profit, gaining a €10 cash ticket, so will attempt that again this week, but didn't even try one sng. I won 500 BP on the horseracing comp, a €10 free bet on the Supertoto, and entered the Tennis comp.

I had 22 x €2 UO tickets, one pile of 20 x €2 all dated January and 2 from the Moving On Up so decided to use two, but unfortunately when registering it used tickets from the main block rather than the two more date sensitive ones, so that's still something to be aware of, I now have to remember to click the correct ticket rather than just registering automatically.  The UO is on the back burner for the time being, I really would have loved to go to Malta or any UO event, but I think I'll make that the long term project, Manchester is looming large, and I know I keep saying it but I really don't play a massive amount. Twenty five flops at cash, a couple or three satties, maybe the odd freeroll and I'm quite happy and done for the day. However it's now time to hit the UK €5 nightly qualifier, I think (hope) I'll have a good run with the amount of tickets I have, and any €50 tickets will be used every Saturday night in the final qualifier.

The other problem is still the hit and miss nature of the earlier UK satties, especially the morning and early afternoon ones which is my favourite time to play. The tickets have been lowered again down to 3 on offer for a minimum of 4 players but still some don't run, and I suspect that at the end of the year there could be a major revamping of the system. Personally I'm not keen on the large difference in steps, 0.20-1-5-50-500, x5 x5 then big steps x10 x10, I've not found an explanation of why we can't have the same as the much flatter UO of x5 each step up till the final. It's probably due to numbers, the UO obviously have a much bigger base.

So the countdown is on.

I played the final last night and bust but my biggest problem is it’s a Saturday night. I think that’s only the 4th time I’ve played the Saturday final since it moved to Saturday from Sunday. The MK seat I won was from a Monday.

Being at the football, seeing family, few drinks. Saturday just doesn’t work for me usually. Still, it’s hitting it’s numbers as far as I can see so guess the system works.

I’ll be struggling to qualify for Manchester at this rate now. But I’m there on those dates anyway for a gig so I will pop in the casino and see whoever is there. And jump in the community freeroll if there is one! Gl mate you got this!

I know just what you mean @MetalWolf , weekends tend to be my family and catching up with other stuff times, so I play even less then, but really don't miss it when I'm doing other stuff.😃

I was intending to play most of today but had a rapid change of heart.

I jumped straight into the first €1 UK qualifier and hit a wall, hard.

I don't know what it is about cash game tickets but somehow I just never seem to do well with them. I'd won a €10 ticket with the Moving On Up promo after making a steady profit, so Monday morning decided to use it. Four hands later it was gone. You might say I shouldn't have limped in with 10-6s, but what's the harm? A flop of 789 rainbow was very encouraging, but a bad river J gave someone chasing a higher straight, against the odds, after all the money went in on the turn, and that was another ticket destroyed. :teardrop:

However, another attempt is ready and waiting, as I now have a €25 cash ticket. By Thursday I was up about €30 only for a combination of two bad beats and one bad decision ( I lost one stack due to sheer annoyance, I think luckily for me that was the 40th flop of the day ) left me back level, and finished on Friday down for the week, but level over the whole run. I'll see if I can make it last a touch longer this time.😃

A good run on the fantastic Supertoto has given me a free bet on the Champions League winners, so the easiest decision I've made this week.

So back to the Satties. I've managed to play the nightly  UK €5 so far:

Monday and Tuesday getting back a €5 ticket, Wednesday out early and no re-buy, Thursday 2nd place for a final ticket and Friday just missing out on the places, so 9 x €5 used with a return of 2 x €5 and 1 x €50. I couldn't play the final qualifier on Saturday (see previous posts) but would like at least one rebuy in reserve even if I don't intend to use it till desperate, and have made it known the next 8 Saturdays I will be incoomm incomyun incomadodo  out of contact.

1827064854_Screenshot(17).png.458698b77598f3c015adacf1e7bcc283.png

I've stopped thinking of the tickets as having a monetary value as they don't really, I could have €1,000 worth of tickets but without the big one they aren't really worth anything, just a means to an end. It's nice to see how they've built up over the weeks but they might as well be called Round 1, Round 2 etc, and it's less upsetting if I lose a few. I was going to run the €1 pile down but then I'd only have the one €5 tourney to play each day, and as I really like playing them I don't see the point. Of course I could switch back to the UO as well, I'm thinking of doing alternate days or just playing the next tourney available.

The countdown continues.

1940993169_Screenshot(18).png.62b170d524a600faea29d44ce2fd9841.png

I like @MetalWolf hope to attend for one day at least even without a ticket, so I'm looking forward to it anyway, no pressure. :Scared:

Question of the week.

Why do people enter competitions and then hope for prizes to be exchanged for something else?

Run Good All.

Two posts ago I decided not to play today as the bad start might put me in a poor frame of mind. After watching the football and a couple of films I thought I'd have another crack before bed but shouldn't have bothered.

After going out twice yesterday with KK there seems to be a pattern developing.

It had tightened up a long way out, 22 players left from 27 with 4 x €5 on offer. I'd been left short, 10 bb's and 12th of 15 after running 66 into KK but had crawled back into the last 5 with at least a €5 ticket as compensation. One hour and 40 mins played and I got dealt KK.

I raised hoping for a jam.

What is the deal with KK on a Sunday?

Played the first tourney of the day, one maniac going all in every hand, I called with A10s and go out to 75o. :teardrop:

Second tourney, 7 hands in.

I've hit the first downturn in the quest, not a major one but my confidence has taken a slight battering. When it's going your way you feel pretty good, watching the stack grow almost daily, but when variance bites it can be hard to take. I seem to have done the same things, kept out of trouble early on, picked the right spots when to attack or defend, but the cards just haven't run well. Rather than getting in ahead and losing to suckouts or bad beats I just seem to be getting in behind and not getting any breaks, but these are small sample sizes so nothing to panic about. I've carried on playing the UK €1 but not won enough €5 tickets to stay ahead of playing the nightly €5 so my stash is slightly smaller, and a last minute arrangement completely outside my control meant no weekly final again. :teardrop:

The UK €5 are definitely a matter of patience. There are still some players willing to go with any two cards early on in an effort to build a stack, then even with 18 players left for 3-4 tickets play tightens up considerably. The registration period ends and the game just grinds to a halt while everyone waits for the add on, to see what we're playing for. With 10-12 left, 3 x €50 tickets and 4-5 x €5 runners up it's usually a matter of push or fold, very little room for manoeuver, so there's a period of each hand consisting of one shove and everyone else folding. This can easily go on for some time till the short stacks start getting desperate and with losing their fold equity the larger stacks feel safe enough to make the call. I'm pretty sure I'm leaving it too late in too many games, quite often the short stack can swap places with the leader when everyone is so close. You definitely have to know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em, but not leave ti till too late. 🤣

1146525089_Screenshot(80).png.cd1027ff9f59bb96342b428346f966dc.png

Time presses so I've got to knuckle down and stick to the plan. I'm going to play all the €1 tickets down, play the nightly €5 UK and depending on how many €50 I have stick with those. It's also going to be an attack on the UO inbetween, as when the €1 UK disappear there's only the nightly UK €5 to play. I'll hope to win a few UO during the day to give me confidence for the one UK shot at night.

Run Good All.

Hi @pinki

My priority has always been the UK tour, especially Manchester just because it's so near to me, but since I started concentrating on satellites I thought I may as well play the UO tour as well. Malta would have been terrific, and Paris would be also. An interesting point brought up was that out of 327 in the main event, 190 had qualified through satellites, so really not an impossible task. My problem has always been motivation, if I lose a couple of flips in a row, especially when ahead, I just throw in the towel for the day, today being a typical example. I played the first UK €1 and got the €5 ticket after an hour of the usual push or fold,😃 but lost the second with AK v 10 8 :teardrop:so that was enough. I could play 13 UK x €1 per day but as I've said before I'm just not into grinding out results, if I win I'm happy and if I lose I stop. I set Manchester as the target, but to be honest I'm beginning to think I don't want any pressure of a time frame, so I'll just play as and when I feel like it and if I don't win a seat I won't be devastated, I'm sure I'll get one eventually, like everyone I just want that touch of run good at the right time. I don't mean this to sound like I'm giving up as I'm not, but motivation really is the main factor at the moment.

What's your motivation? I know you've been struggling recently with what to play, have you settled on a routine at all or just play what you fancy. As @psrquack says it'll soon be Winter and I'm thinking of switching to playing in the evenings, no more cricket or barbeques, trying a few nano tourneys just for fun, and trying to maintain my stash of tickets. Cash games have been horrendous to me, the dreaded Double Trouble ticket has arrived again. I've made my 125 flops a day for the first week with 5 King of Flips tickets per day, but the br has taken a pounding, so I've cut back to one table again and really trying to concentrate on playing well, rather than any volume. Thirteen flops so far today in an hour, so I could be up till midnight to get 125, :teardrop: (but profit so far.😃)

Run Good 👍

If you have enough bonus points maybe you should buy €6 cash game ticket and only play the daily 125 flops from it to keep your br healthy. Btw I like your attitude stop playing if you aren't in good mood. Heads up and find the clues to the victory. The hound of Baskerville isn't a monster if you look on it twice.

Thanks @psrquack I have bonus points but generally don't do too well if using them for cash tickets, it might be the wrong mindset again. I was intending to save my BP's for tickets if I ran low, but as I seem to be maintaining them and now only 1 tabling cash it might well be worth a shot. 😃

@GR1ZZL3R I have got some idea:) Maybe i'll start twin thread ie. "The battle between Pinki and @GR1ZZL3R." . I have a similar number of UO tickets... For now 0 UK ,lost them in silly way as always :)

Current balance:

1.  3x 1UO,  8x4UO

2.  10x 2UO 5x 10UO

What do you think? Such a small motivation :)

my main goal now is to build as many as possible at low levels and then attack 25, 50 and 250UO

@pinki

That's what I seem to be doing, I've built my stash up but for some reason just don't seem to want to play the higher ones in case I lose them, (very likely :teardrop:)

Because I've decided to ignore time pressure, (I've more or less decided to appear in Manchester with or without a ticket) I want to build as big a stack as possible till the end of the quarter,  just playing the odd one at higher levels, then keep a strict record of wins and losses. I'll keep diving in and out of the UO for the next couple of weeks then we can check stacks and have a go for it if you like, a bit of competition might be just what we need.   I'm quite happy to rename this one, "We're on the road to Nowhere" or "The great Race" starring GR1ZZL3R and pinki, co-starring anyone else that wants to hop aboard. Lets make it fun again. 👍
