From Poker Donk To Winning Monk

Another month done, thank F this one is over, not ran the best and just hoping it's more runbad than my own play. Waiting on results for October but I do have my September results in now.

September:
NL50    +€818.23  / 23896 hands = +6.848 bb/100 (€944 rake)
NL100  -€613.06   /   7100 hands = -8.635 bb/100 (€413 rake)

All I can say for October is that I managed to stay in the positive, ending €135 up from the amount I started with at the start of the month. If it wasn't for winning a super double trouble or that other tournament etc it would prob be more grim, but we will find out from the stats once I get them in.

Bankroll is at €3200, had it at €3500 at some point yesterday but playing late last night saw it fell back down, played 2 hands bad last night where I stacked off light / bluffcatchmode lol and it didn't work out. One hand villain flopped a set vs my middle pair and I decided to tripple barrel obv no good. Other hand villain called my 4b OOP with KTs and flopped the nut straight and me holding KK. Also lost AK vs KK to add another 100bb loss. But doesn't matter.

Few random hands from past few days:

We are at 300k challenge points now, if I manage to get to 1M points within this quarter then my rakeback is something like €2830, cash rewards + bonus points converted in to playthrough bonusses, so about let's say €940 a month. Of course most of the rewards will come later in time but this is my goal for the rest of the year. Not entirely sure where this lays in the poker market for rakeback but whatever. I'll be happy if I end the year with playing 100NL, beating it and hopefully showing a steady profit by the end of December, rakeback included (but hopefully without it too!)

@CuteRaven  It's good not busting the bankroll so I can keep the dream alive 🤣

As I mentioned before, it's hard to track your own play on Unibet to dissect and make it easier to verify where someone has to improve their game so in one way I hope I can show better results soon making me more confident I can beat the games as being in this gray zone of not really knowing if it's more variance than bad play, or vice versa, makes it a bit annoying to interpret my own play.

I felt I played better in the last week anyway, bit more tighter and in my eyes correct adjustments in some spots that came up where again I just have to realise that villains just aren't bluffing enough. Maybe I should stop watching 200NL+ videos 🤣

I just don't seem to get a break do I ??? Playing 100NL but tables were breaking down and saw 1 table of 200NL was going so I joined and 4 halfstackers and only one with a big stack lol so stayed on it... but then the fun began! Sometimes it's like you just can't beat a person whatever you hold, villain in AA vs KK cracked my AA before when I just called his 3b pre and he flopped a straightdraw and got there on the turn.

Last hand from the 200NL session, very weird, villain was also on 100NL and has a weird play style, not sure if he's a fishy reg or a reggy fish lol. In this hand he minraised but he often opens 2.5 ish or 3 ish lol so it's like he plays on a mobile as the sizes are random. As said, he minraises and I 5x 3b him and he calls, I halfpot the flop and he shoves... I don't know if I should find a fold here? Obviously now going forward I guess a shove means kinda the nuts from this villain but in general, what if he plays his 66-KK like this or A5 of clubs or 56s etc...

AAcrap.png.dba9002c89c2c9ab3db6db077a44d623.png

Anyhow, think I lost like €500-€700 at 200NL :Disappointed: and yet I was only down just over €100 for the day on Unibet as I was bossing it at 100NL lol, and had a small profit at RIO so was only down €57 in total for the day...

Unibet wants players to move up but variance says no? :Annoyed:

It is now in the past so all in all it wasn't a big loss so let's just carry on as per usual!

One other thing I forgot was to play the Sunday freeroll with my flipticket, completely forgot about it :Waterfall:

It was a very interesting session to say the least, never seen this since I came back to poker this year. Here another hand, I open and he 3b 2.5x lol, then I just decided to call it down 3 streets, but yeh *roll eyes*

8J36.png.b7c5148654a5749974cf905952fd134a.png

Think he sucked the whole table dry and was sitting just over €1000 pretty mad. I left the table with just under €300 and he still had like €500-€600 then. Couldn't really make it later as got work in the morning sadly enough.

So had 2 tickets for the double trouble one and there are 2 tournaments today? Bit bizar as the pool gets split up so it is easier to reach the money, lost the 1st one which had almost 400 entries compared to 218 in the 2nd one so almost half the pool gets paid out 🆒

Unfortunately I don't have a super double trouble ticket as there are also 2 tournaments for, 111 entries in the first and about 50 in the 2nd one which is starting now, so 1/5 gets paid lol. Not sure if this is an error having 2 of each on the same day with 1h in between them. +EV to play the 2nd one anyway if you only have one ticket.

So time for an update again, lets start with October results, played exclusively 100NL and just over 34000 hands, 4000 more than the month before. Raked €2300 and lost €464. Profit was still €135 on Unibet for October due to winning double trouble tourneys and some challenge points rewards. Did not run the best that month for sure.

So far this month, up slightly but feels like I just can't break away from some kind of break even game. Maybe I should tighten up my game a bit more I'm not sure at this point. Challenge points are at 430k, bit behind my wanted progress as should be about 460k today, 10k a day to get to 900k at end of the year but I am aiming for 1M as I will have the first week of December off + the xmas holidays which should be enough spare time to get me there and giving me an additional 25k bonus points and €1850 in bonus and cash.

Also just 'bought' a €500 playthrough bonus as I had enough bonus points when reaching the 400k points and am just over halfway the first payout out of 5. Looks like it takes me a week or maybe a week and half to clear €100 so that is ok.

So just continuing with this plan till the end of this year and after that we will see, depends on what results I actually get without taking the bonus/rakeback in to consideration. Maybe start thinking in mixing some more 200NL in and play less and more learning at the side. Playing this much now does kinda affect the amount of time I can spend on learning and while I had the extra holidays in this Q4 I thought I'll put some more volume in and get some more unibet rakeback but this won't be the case for Q1 of next year as won't have many, if any holidays then. (unless I lose my job 🤣)

Unibet is also going to reform the rakeback system so see what that will be and when exactly.

Aside from that, still play a bit on RIO too, almost went bankrupt 😀 but put another €100 on to top up whatever was left, and ran it up to 1k almost playing 50NL, then lost 5 buyins yesterday lol. I do feel like my game in general has improved by playing a lot more than before but I'm maybe making some hasty decisions in some spot playing too much on autopilot who knows. I said I was going to give up RIO but I don't mind playing it now and then for the reason that games aren't running a lot and when they do it is often shorthanded and more aggro which isn't the best environment to make money but I do think it tests your skills more. I've noticed that when playing 6-8 tables on unibet on desktop I sometimes drop back in some more passive autopilotty way which I shouldn't be doing. Playing on RIO keeps reminding me that I need to ramp my aggro'ness 😛 up.

Thats about it I think for an update lol, here some more hands from the past week or so, play so many it's impossible to pick out loads of them so just a small selection:

And another break even weekend 😞 just passed the 450k points and even with the extra €50 I'm still break even lol, doing my nut in. Have €600 queued up in playthrough bonusses now though. 10% away from the 1st €100 but had enough for now, I'll get it tomorrow.

Had some unreal battling with a reg again, one of the most aggro ones on 100NL for sure, and he just always gets there in flips, another thing doing my nut in!

@FreedoM  Have watched that video before lol. But plan is to keep on grinding anyway, I'm still watching videos etc but just less than usual. Once I'm off for a week in 2 weeks time I'll see to go through some more theory again, never much traffic going on during mornings and around lunchtime anyways so gives me enough spare time 😃

What a night again, lost €800 on Unibet pff, lost every flip and then hands like this kept piling up vs fishy players, wonder where they learn those amazing flopping skills.

cent.png.bdafee534e0b490b4f8bf3d96a7b1845.pngcednd.png.c59739a52174c22f7613de1fa4474d7b.pngAlso played on RIO, 50NL there and up €400... what on earth is going on on Unibet ffs. Also cleared a €100 bonus so only down €700 or €300 in total for today so far, prob play a bit on the ipad before sleep. Gimme a break! Prob played 2-3h on Unibet today and I'm still 0/5 "have a full house with one of your hole cards"... shows you how crap I ran /rolleyes!

Not much to say here, bit of low volume on Unibet this week as played more on RIO. Unibet is just not working out atm, I think I have to nit up my game a bit but running better would also be nice.

akshte1.png.b372138ff4a1530220fc665acf7466ab.pngakshte2.png.ccaba0a2f4621668d20c15f8ccb8695b.png340370417_aacurse.png.ef4fb4c28f1678db93036fc080c548dc.png

Bit more of my RIO play:

Just been playing more on RIO for the weekly rakerace,  had an ok start of the week so trying to keep my position till end of the week which is today, hopefully bag €200 but its definitely €100 anyway what I also reached the week before. And an additional €67.5 on top of that for the personal rakeback system, played quite a bit there this week. They do have a splash the pot feature where pots get bloated with extra money, rarely you get a 1000bb pot and everyone is All in (not your own money) and winner gets 80% of pot or something. 3x I've been dealt in one but never won, had 83o J2o and 72o ... pretty poor. Worst was the 72o which was 3 handed and other guy had 72o as well and 3rd person had T4o and won lol, but won €70 or something as was only 3 way.

Anyhow, 1 week of work to go and then off for a week, def be ramping up volume on Unibet then and try to 'fix' my game a bit, add more theory etc. And try to get my bonus points back onto the level it needs to be for my xmas bonus lol. And pray for some rungood lol!

Getting pretty fed up now, bankroll is now €1500, more than half what it was since start of the month and lost like 1k just in the last 2 days. Impossible to win anything it's becoming too much of a joke. Just can not win a single hand, the more I top up and the more bonusses I get the worse I run, very good Unibet.

Do you have a feeling that you are playing against a bot?

No I don't have a feeling they are bots, just lucky to always have the better hand. Lots of terrible play so if that's how they program bots they must be having a laugh lol.

And that's what's so frustrating and I prob said it before, I'm not the best player but 100NL is definitely beatable because I see enough bad and random plays going on and that's not just the recs but also the mass grinders who play these stakes day in day out. Calling 3b OOP with J3s or calling in the sb vs btn with random crap like K8o and the likes.

They are getting it in bad every time, they would be very bad bots.

Only thing I can say to help you Monk is knowing you get them to get it in with worse cards. Sooner or later, especially when u play for stacks (not passive badreg) you're going to run into 10 to 20 bi swings. Hang in there, you know only 1 amazing session gets everything back in the green.

Are there bots on Unibet? Possible but having bots running in pools that are smaller makes it easier to detect imo. I've never come accross a villain thinking hmm bit of bot like betting patterns or the like. Not saying that it would be easy to spot with a top of the range bot (how the hell do I know anyway) as they should randomise their plays as well. Most players in the pool I've played against make daft plays now and then myself included and you can see it when a hand goes to showdown. I'm sure Unibet has more in place than other sites to battle botting as no software is allowed on Unibet which makes it easier to detect imo. Anyway, I don't really want to have that convo here, enough other places to talk about that 'side' of poker. And don't forget superusers and RTA etc.

Ended up €1800 on Unibet and got the €200 bonus on RIO in the bag. Also just passed 500k bonus points here on Unibet and now got €600 in bonusses still lined up with 80% done for the next payout of €100. Guess I'll need it to fill up the hole lol.

I tracked my last 100k bonus points and I earned 34.400 points with major challenges, so about 1/3 so 2/3 comes from minor challenges. Not something I would have thought of but minor ones go pretty quick 😃

Also forgot to use my flip ticket... they should improve this bit because I do not see any notifications of new emails or tickets received just by watching at the client. Could do with some better marker to point out whats new when you receive something.

@waffel Well not all hands are in my favour but losing the ones that are in my favour even 60/40 over and over vs button clickers is kinda souldestroying. It's good and bad at the same time, they'll lose over time but that doesn't make my day any easier :Cheeky: fingers crossed for a 10-20 buy in upswing .

Off to bed now, going to cry myself to sleep, good night :Waterfall::Rofl:
