StreamCoverPage.thumb.png.6c86a83c3c1fa868aa0659c78cc7e0b2.pngI started this journey in late November 2018, and the truth is, I started it because it would have been a couple days before I could have made my first deposit, so I just started playing some of the "Bounty Freerolls" Unibet was offering at the time.  I binked a few 2c bounties on that first day, and after looking at the rake-free Nano schedule, I realized I MIGHT be able to freeroll a bankroll from nothing.

It was a tough slog to start with, and I sat with a <10 BR for ages with the odd small score in a Nano.  My first "big score" came from a min-cash in a UOS event that I won a ticket for, but I struggled with a small BR until things started to go my way in January.  Since the beginning of 2019, my BR has grown from <10 to my current high of about 155.944625151_RunningBRvs.Date(1).png.dbaa0bdd53b2d4f5daf36090adc8663f.png

One of the things that got me interested in Unibet was the fun backgrounds they have for tables, and I decided early on to have my table "ramp up" with my bankroll. So I started off playing for pennies on the beat-up crate in the back alley, graduated to the ratty poker table in the rundown saloon when I hit about 20, and once my BR capped 100, I moved to a nice home game in the basement on the pool table.  Now that I've cracked 150, I may need to find a new game.

I started streaming my journey in early February, and have been overwhelmed by the support I've found from Unibet players.  I want to extend special thanks to Ian Simpson and David Vanderheyden for the host/raid support, as well as for the freerolls that have significantly helped me grow my roll.

I've been a poker player at low-stakes for a decade or so, and recently was losing interest in online poker.  Then I found Unibet, and the last few months have honestly been the most fun I've had playing online poker in a LONG time.  In part, that's because I'm doing well and building a roll, no doubt ... but it's also because the poker on Unibet is fun.

If you are looking for a new stream to check out, or just wanna make fun of my Canadian pronunciation of David Vanderheyden's name, come check me out.  I'm still working out some of the details in terms of graphics, but you can also follow my journey on Twitter at #UnibetFreerollChallenge.  I usually stream Mondays, and Wednesdays, as well as Fridays and Saturdays sometimes, starting around 11AM Mountain Time.  Check us out, and beam up to the Mothership.

I do try to be entertaining on my stream.  I try to play good poker, but you know, sometimes you just have a brain fart four-handed on the final table and decide to do everything in your power to commit ICM suicide.  At least I figure out pretty quickly how dumb it was :).

Somehow, I ended up as the chip leader ...

Cool idea with the tables! Also a nice BR build from the free rolls!!! Keep it up, will follow the progress:)

A lot has happened on the #MotherShip since we last landed here at the Community.  I remember how excited we were when we cracked that 150 barrier.  Now, the max bankroll is up well over €300, though our current BR is somewhat less than that.

297456962_RunningBRvs.Date-10.png.f0468c42d1ae073614b30fdc2a98eb18.pngElronament-results.thumb.JPG.208d620e8ff6f2c1af4600364cf4c05a.JPGThe road from 150 to over €200 was a long one with a lot of treading water.  But we finally cracked the €200, and next thing we knew it was €225, then €250, and within 48 hours, we'd cracked the €300 mark.

Almost ALL of that incredible run from €200 to €300 was thanks to Bounty Badlands.  I had a true sun-run for a few days in the €5 buy-in Falling Stars, and not only made some very good BR cash, but also gathered 98 points for 6th (currently) on the Low leaderboard.

Our average buy-in now has moved up from the Nano levels into true "low stakes" poker with an average buy-in this past week of over €2.

The #MotherShip community has evolved to a degree I couldn't have imagined, and I'm ever grateful to my viewers.  The recent #ArmyOfElron developments are truly humbling, and the cherry on top of that wonderful sundae was the freeroll @Stubbe-Unibet arranged for us this past Friday.  It was a great turn out with more than 400 people playing, but somehow I actually went and won the damn thing, which was honestly a bit embarrassing lol.  Nonetheless, it gives me an extra €10 ticket to vie for Unibet Open Paris seats with.  I currently have six in the bank, and I plan to hit them hard in coming weeks.

But speaking of tickets, the current obssession is the International Poker Open.  We have 4 tickets for the €33 Qualifier to IPO Seat-Only €300 9 TIX, and the first chance to book a seat is Sunday Sep 1st.  I have plenty of rebuys and add-ons, so here's hoping I can book a seat on the first on try.  If I book a seat, I'm 100% booking plane tickets and hotel the same day.  There's really no way I can justify, in pure EV terms, a trans-atlantic flight for a series where the Main is a €300 buy-in.  But there's all sorts of "value" in life beyond the monetary, and I have to think the positive "life value" of a week of poker in Dublin is sort of off the charts.  I mean, assuming I get a seat at some point, the absolute WORST case scenario is that I have a nice vacation in Dublin and play some poker, but have to pay for the trip myself.  When your "worst case scenario" is everyone else's "nice vacation" its almost certainly a "freeroll" with huge equity, even if that equity isn't strictly measured in dollars and cents.

I'm getting ahead of myself, of course ... I haven't even won the seat yet, but come by Sunday at #MotherShipPoker to see if I can do it.  If its been awhile since you checked us out, or if you've never taken a ride on the #MotherShip at all, this Sunday will be a great time to beam on board and see if we can book a trip to Dublin!

Hi @elron66

I hadn't seen your stream before Friday but decided to check it out because of all the Elron activity (and the freeroll for UO tickets.) I'd seen variations on the Elron name in the UK and UO qualifiers which are currently my main games, so was curious to see what was going on. I played the freeroll my natural nitty way and eventually found myself on your left with about 50 or so to go. You shoved and I folded my K10s, only about 10 bb's left, and thought it was funny 3 mins later when I saw you had AA. 🤣 Well done on the win, * ( I went out somewhere in the 30's  :teardrop: ) very entertaining. I'm not a great stream watcher, preferring to play than watch, I tend to lose concentration if doing both, but inbetween playing I've watched quite a bit of the  @DaVitsche stream, mainly for the advice and comments on my first love, cash games, and loved the late night rants with @Brocky, sadly no more. (The rants, not Brocky.)

I'm loving your motives for playing, virtually the same reasons I have, and after lucking into a package for last year's UO Dublin event can thoroughly recommend it. I may never have a chance of cashing, let alone winning one of these events but when you've had one you want more, so as far as I'm concerned the journey is the event, the experience is worth it. I'll try and catch the action tonight, and best of luck in your quest. 👍

* Don't be embarrassed about winning you're own tourney, I would think that's quite a rare achievement, shout it out. 🤣

Ya I was running so well ... absurdly well lol ... I hope you come hang out more as well ... and frankly, that's part of why I'm embarrassed lol ... the KT>AA hand is an example of how great I was running, but maybe also of how "not so great" I was playing lol

Thank you for coming to play though ... the turn out eas really humbling for me :)

SoClose.JPG.f5a99fbc7e741a3932e9ec94092bc6c2.JPGSo close, but still so far.  Unfortunately, close doesn't get you anything in poker, so busting two from the tickets in the IPO final was pretty painful.  I used to think getting sucked out on was the worst way to go out of one of these.  Turns out, the worst way to bust one of these is to play really well down to the final few sopts, then just completely lose your head with AQs in a spot where you have NO NEED to be in the hand at all and bust because of a really questionably timed move.

I still have one more €33.00 Qualifier to IPO Seat-Only ticket in the bank, and I plan to keep pounding on the IPO qualifiers and flips to keep on trying.  I won't be able to play the final this weekend becuase I'm travelling for work, but I'll be back in the mix on Sun Sep 15th for sure.

The #MotherShip will be on the ground for the next week as I head off to Winnipeg to cover the 2019 Fall PlayNow Poker Championship from Club Regent Casino.  It's a fun series I've covered for PokerNews Canada for several years now, with two marquee two day events at $600 and $1100 Cdn, with two other smaller side events thrown in for fun.

Barring any unforseen technical glitches or stray asteroids while we are away, the MotherShip will be back in flight on Wednesday Sep, 11 for a few hours of Unibet Poker action including more qualifiers for IPO sats.  Cya next week, and come fly the friendly Elron!

@elron66 Sorry you didn't make it this time but just carry on. I used to be the same as you regarding suckouts but the main thing satellite play has taught me is to preserve your stack. In other threads I've given loads of examples of players (including me :teardrop:) crashing out when they (me :teardrop:) just shouldn't have been in the hand in the first place. Patience is good.

Sounds like a great week coming up, have fun and try again. 👍
