Woke up super late but better late than never.  Just been using my challenge points tickets that you get at the start of each quarter (Starting with 66k points this Q carried over so a good start already on the way to 1.25m).  This did make me laugh with the €6 cash ticket.  First hand I sit down, I'm wanting to lose my stack and I get QQ vs JJ bvb... typical!

€1.99 has been credited to your account!  RESULT

Time for the real grind.  LFG.

Well unfortunately the QQ < JJ was just a microcosm of what was to come from the grind.  Dropped over 1k today in the most ridiculous fashion.  Couldn't win a thing.

Just going to make a quick post to let you guys know that I'll only seldom be updating the blog from now on.  In terms of the grind, not a massive amount has been happening, just been grinding out a decent profit at the 25s/50s with no real exciting updates.  Furthermore, I will likely only stream should I go deep in some satellite/tournaments as there are literally no positives I can think of anymore to streaming heads up.  The games are getting more reggy than ever so promoting Unibet for nothing in return seems stupid, plus obviously giving away info, playing with lower concentration, toxicity of people on Twitch etc all just make it not worth doing even one more stream, however much I have enjoyed them.  Thanks so much to every one of you that has tuned in over the past 7-8 months though.

I feel like if I'm going to do a blog of any sort it'll be a challenge - something like qualifying for a UO, a bankroll challenge or documenting a transition into cash games/MTTs.  For now though, the main focus is HU.

I've decided to buy-in to the UO Malta main event instead of playing the side events with my package, so will be playing day 1b and will update as and when.

Not a massive amount more to add really.  50 pages of a lot of ups and a lot of downs, it's been fun.

Hey

Taking that's a lot by your expression ?

In  your opinion how many games would you say before i should work out Roi ?

Will be waiting until next month to get stats anyway, no way will i be attempting to count them all haha

Best of luck to you and thanks ♥️

A few thousand should give you a decent indication as to whether you are a winning player at a certain stake but probably 10k+ for a fairly accurate ROI.

How many hours and how many tables at a time for 300 games? I get around 7 games per hour per table, so 20ish per hour 3 tabling. That's 15 hours solid of 3 tabling for 300 games...

It's been interesting @Brocky seeing the insights of a new pro and how the ups and downs can affect you and what it's like to have  to play. Good luck in Malta and with your career, and keep us updated. 👍

Thanks Gr1z, I'll still be around playing the usual stuff and posting on the community but just done with the regular updates/streaming I think.  The crazy thing is there were a few sessions I had in January at the 200s against a guy shoving any two cards where I ran probably 5k+ below EV which cost me a lot not only in terms of cash but opportunity.  Had that gone well, I would've been continuing a shot at the high stakes at a time where there were no or few regs playing while earning enough challenge points to get the 4 figure bonuses and I feel like it would've been a bit of a snowball effect in terms of building the bankroll.  Not to be unfortunately, still in a decent position but the games are a lot tougher these days, especially at the 25/50s so I just need to work twice as hard on my game.

  • 3 weeks later...

Would love to say Goliath is going well but I drove up at 6am yesterday to queue for the alternates list as the day was full.  Got in around 12:40pm and managed to gradually build the stack to around 80k from 25k without seeing any premiums before losing AQ vs KJ on AT8Q in a 3b pot and then a 180k pot where I reshove over an open and 60k shove (600/1200) with QQ.  Woman who opened then calls both of us with KK, other guy has 77.  Board runs complete bricks, sigh.

Queued today at 6:30 for a registration desk that opened at 8:30 and was still 112th in the queue, apparently people arrived at 3am just to get a seat!

Got seated not long ago, shoved a straight flush draw on the turn and got a fold, then squeezed T8cc on the button vs 2 players pre to get both fold to fold.  Feel like im gonna finish today with either 500k or busto in 1 level!

Im rocking the unibet hoodie for the run good @Stubbe-Unibet!

Will have over £100k for first for a £125 MTT, think it’ll have around 9k runners after today.

No idea why the pic is sideways?

Ended up building to 180k at one point on Friday before losing AQ < AK then TT < AJ where the AJ makes a terrible call after I’ve shoved 25bb over his 2.5x open.  Hadn’t shoved once on that table but obviously some players want to put their stack in with AJ after playing for 10 hours.

Proceed to double up twice back to 16bb, to which I jammed A8 from the HJ and got called in 2 spots by 77 and KK.  No ace to be found anywhere unfortunately.

The Goliath isn’t potentially a very good tournament with a massively prize pool but can get very expensive witg re-entries, cash games, casino games, food, drinks and hotels.  Decided to drive back home early and get on the heads up grind again.  However, I definitely feel like there were few if any better players on any of my tables over the past 2 days so I’ve got a renewed motivation to get on the MTT satellite grind again.

  • 1 month later...

Might as well do a quick update as I'm waiting for the server upgrade to finish.

The mrs and I fly out to Malta on Thursday, decided to sell most of my action and play day 1b of the main event on the Friday which should be good fun.  Looking forward to hopefully meeting @RayL @Stubbe-Unibet @AndreiBN as well as a few others when we're out there.  In terms of the HU grind I went through a very unmotivated period for quite a long time and got distracted very easily by things such as my PS4.  Since getting rid of the PS4 and just focusing solely on poker my volume has increased massively and I'm having a decent September, I haven't got the results to hand but probably something like +€1.8k, maybe €2k.  One thing that I try and do daily to improve motivation is watch the streamer All in Pav.  For me he's not the most overly entertaining streamer (he's still good) but he's a guy that is playing and studying almost every day.  He's moved up the MTT ranks very quickly over the past couple of years from nowhere and he's going to make 6 figures this year just playing your regular online tournaments.  He also did a podcast with JoeIngram1 on Youtube which is a couple of hours long but well worth a listen.  Every time I switch on it makes me think I am simply not working as hard as this guy and I need to be.

My sleeping pattern is absolutely terrible at the moment.  Recently I've been sleeping something like 2pm-8pm then 2am-4am.  Not only am I missing a lot of the good times for volume but I'm constantly tired and I really need to sort it out by Friday!

That's about it really.  If anyone is going to be in Malta later this week let me know!
