Angellike
Hi guys, can't seem to find FIFA's definition of a shot on target. Obviously I have/had a bet on a player to have a shot on target. This player tried crossing the ball but ended up in the goalkeeper's hands - although the attempt would have gone in had the goalkeeper not been there. My googling did however find Opta's definitions: https://www.optasports.com/news/optas-event-definitions/"Any goal attempt that:a) Goes into the netb) Would have gone into the net but for being stopped by a goalkeeper's savec) Would have gone into the net but for being stopped by a defender who is the last man." Any idea how I should go about finding it?
Angellike
Some additional info:The player I bet on was Shaqiri in Switzerland. There's a very interesting situation for anyone interested, that occurs between 56:10-56:14 of the second half. What's your honest opinion, was that a shot on goal?Ping @testuser1 @Livertool :)
Livertool
That definition is quite right imo however post or crossbar don´t count and it seems to me that ball would have hit the post.
BonusPater
Haven't seen the actual shot, but if it would have bit the crossbar or post, it's indeed not a shot on goal, as @Livertool says. Well, the official match report didn't credit him with a shot on goal, so that's how the bet should be settled: https://resources.fifa.com/image/upload/eng-09-0617-bra-sui-fulltime-pdf-2959995.pdf NB if there was a very obvious mistake, which is apparently not the case, you could give it a go, but in this case I'd just leave it :)
