  1. thanks @FreedoMand yes, we humans are a plague to everyone including ourselves.
  2. Hey everyone, I have launched a YouTube channel where I am talking about philosophy, if anyone is interested. I hope that using this platform for a little bit of self promotion is finešŸ˜ here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkEt6JHLKotgcJNADePA7ng
  3. almost @WuDu I sent the money to his bank account. His documents showed the transfer between his bank account and the gambling provider(s). I am not sure if it was more than one provider because he sent in different kinds of documents of what seemed to be the same gambling site (which is very strange of course, but I already crosschecked the dates and sums to make sure that he wasn't trying to use the same deposits several times). The documents didn't show what he used the money on. In addition to that he did send in his party poker playing log (and yes, he did shoot some 1.000$ HUSNGs).
  4. I agree with @Livertool that this is the best place to have this discussion, but obviously as @Stubbe-Unibet said, we should stick to the facts and avoid the speculation. Brocky sent in documents showing his deposits and withdrawals to (various?!) gambling sites that don't offer Poker. Logically speaking there would have been nothing stopping him from withholding some of the withdrawals or keeping money in the accounts until after the hearing and I do not know why the judge was satisfied with what he presented. Another thing that I don't think I mentioned is that I had evidence that Brocky refused to show me these documents in the first place. I thought that this would have been enough to at least get the court costs back. Brocky just claimed we discussed everything via our skype calls and didn't have to provide any evidence for that. In other words I lost the 500 quid in court costs as well. There is a lot that I don't understand. Hey, if anybody is really interested in this case I would be willing to share the evidence and statements of both sides via e-mail together with a short summary of what happened at the hearing. I would be very interested in as many opinions as possible.
  5. @WuDu his transactions suggest he started playing casino games just a few days after I sent the money over. His transactions are also pretty much unconclusive. They showed some deposits and some withdrawals. I mentioned in the hearing that there was basically nothing stopping him from leaving some of the money in the accounts and he said something like "you should have asked me for screenshots of the account balances, like every other person would do". Again this seemed to be sufficient for the judge.
  6. I actually used that thread post of his as evidence. He stated he was asking for a staking deal but claimed that the one we agreed upon was a different one. The judge believed him on that one. Really got my jaw dropping. What you then say is interesting but pure speculation, I won't comment on it. I think I learned two major things: -Don't ever trust anybody -don't ever think that the court or the police are there to protect the good guys
  7. yes, casino games like blackjack and roulette @WuDu I might have misunderstood your comment @WuDu and in that case I apologize. It understood it as a "how could you even be so stupid to trust this guy", but maybe that's not what you meant. Sorry And it is definitely correct that I did a few stupid things along the way, however I still put 100% of the moral blame on Brocky.
  8. I doubt I will be taking poker up again in the future. The decision was already made before the hearing so it's not a short term tilt thing. thanks for the long analysis @Groggy . I read through it but won't bother to watch the video and look at the hands again, would be a waste of time. @Livertool I don't actually think that Brocky's documents definitively showed that he really did lose the money with online casino games. Anyway, there is a reasonable chance he did indeed. @WuDu I got to read your stuff before it was deleted. There is really no good reason for you to play the "you should have known from the beginning"-card, unless your goal is to make me feel even worse than I already do. I sincerely hope that you don't.
  9. there are a number of reasons @fest_student firstly, I simply don't enjoy the game anymore. secondly, I would like to do something more sensible with my life than play a silly game for a few bucks. thirdly, I don't understand what I am doing wrong. The explanations given to me seem bizarre, there seem to always be reasons for my plays to appear to be just as reasonable or more reasonable than the suggested alteration. Maybe I have reached my talent ceiling?! fourthly, I have spend a lot of time in the past working on my game (not only ICM) and nothing ever seemed to get me beyond a certain point. I simply don't want to spend more time on it.
  10. The hearing: In short, I lost. Brocky essentially claimed that he staking deal had no limits. I asked him if that meant he could have bet the entire 5.000ā‚¬ on a specific number in roulette. He said yes. I made it clear that that would be an absolutely ridiculous agreement on my part but the judge decided she deemed me foolish enough to do something like that based on the fact that I was already foolish enough not to take a screenshot of the contract. There was more evidence that was discarded or ignored for reasons I don't really understand but I won't give more details here. Poker: thanks for the feedback. I have objections to everything @WuDu said, but given the fact that a lot of people seem to agree with him (as do my results), I conclude that you are probably right and I am wrong. That brings me to my next point. I am quitting poker. What comes next? I will be doing some full time language learning for the next few months and then look for work in that area.
  11. By the way I recommend watching without sound. Unless you want to listen to me mourning that is:happy:
  12. you are right of course @WuDu here we go
  13. you might be right @Groggy Any suggestions on how to polish up my preflop ranges? today's session was awful like always. Lost 13ā‚¬, could have been a lot more if I hadn't at least gotten lucky with my flips at the very end. This isn't leading anywhere so I will probably take @WuDu 's advice and take a break until after the court hearing. I recorded half an hour's worth of playing today and sent it to a buddy for some feedback. We'll see what we'll get back there. If anyone else would be willing to sacrifice half an hour of their time to have a look at my play I would be very grateful for that. PM me if interested. I also requested my results. As of 17.03. I have played 1.283 SNGs and made 112ā‚¬. That is about 2% ROI, however this has certainly worsened a bit by now. It could very well still be enormous bad luck but I dare not conclude that before I haven't got a few outside opinions first.
  14. @WuDu there are a number of things to say. First of all I disagree partially with what was said in that video. I think it completely ignores the effect of variance. Just a quick example: Imagine you are simultaneously the best poker player in the world and the least lucky one. The wisest thing to do would be to continue playing in the exact same way even though that has only bagged you losses in the past. I will agree with you however that extended periods of bad results (in poker as well as in life in general) raise the likelihood that there is something from outside that prevents success and changes in one's attitude should be strongly considered. I made a small change today by cutting down to 10 tables. Anyway, to today's results. I won 55ā‚¬ and 600 Bonuspoints, a new record once again. Can't really complain about today specifically but here are some rants anyway: 1st hand: Villain's only postflop betsize was the overbetjam, so the call is obvious. 2nd hand: I jam for 11bb and get called.
