@VikingsAFHe made it 8, and I made it 28 OTB , so he called and pot on the flop was about .70 ; :D

Hehe yeah...

@SkilfulPoker, how much were the bets pre?? Because that is indeed one crazy hell of a thing :o (You would start to believe he'd know what was coming)

Or I guess the more proabable explanation at 4nl, is he doesn't have a clue/doesn't care what the odds are of flopping trips with 34 :D I still want to cry though (just a little ;p )

@SkilfulPoker Yeah it's crazy. It's statistically the third wost hand in a 1v1 situation after 42 and 32 :p But again. Preflop against a random oponent he has 34% chance to win and you only 85 :p (not that I say you should play with that amount of equity :o)

I see now that the circumstances of ones birth are irrelevant... It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.

OK. So poker client is back online again :)

Balance is 7.97 ; that AA vs 34 hand didn't help.

So doing the only sensible thing, any half ways sensible poker player would do with aspirations for profiting in a challenge...

I'm moving down! I hate moving down!! I just converted my 100 bonus shop points to a 1 euro SNG ticket also.

But not every decision we make in poker has to be one we are doing back-flips over with joy, just got to make the right decision when it counts.

If I get up to 20 euros, I'll take a 3buy-in shot at 4nl cash again :)

I think you are on the wrong way. Too many surfaces (betting+poker), too risky play and too many rollercoasters. I think it's better to forget the challenge and focus on the poker opportunities. You still have the BR to complete the february missions, or at least the third part of the mission. With that Omaha ticket you can easily clear the fourth challenge. If I'm not wrong you have around 1500 challenge points. At 3000 CP you will get the next chunk of SNG tickets. I really hope that you can make it, please don't make the same mistake again. GL.😃

Hey @psrquack yes these threads are as much for some fun as anything else these days for me, lost today's little bet of 10 euros, so challenge is at a halt again.

I do need to have a think about what my priorities are with poker tbh, i even said it to a friend today, I can't really get motivated these days to play 1-5 euro games/cash, which is one of the reasons I keep hopping about all over the place, and I'm too busy with other stuff to try to actually profit at anything higher.

I'm very much a rec that falls into the category of aspiring to better things when it comes to online poker, but for now I just enjoy dipping in and out of the community and see what I can do with some small deposits every now or then.

I am giving some thought to maybe trying to win a UO London seat, but that will require a fair bit of commitment with just about 10 days or so left, I might deposit 4 bullets for the 50 sats in next few days, but then again I might not too :D i'll give it a bit of thought over the next few days ;)

Skrill is so retarded sometimes... was out yesterday stayed up all night, fancied playing some live poker....

But did the sensible thing slept first :D went out with just my skrill card tonight...

get to ATM doesn't work. Long story short, turns out if you transfer bitcoin to your skrill you cant use YOUR skirll card to access the funds, but can send anywhere else with skrill  / withdraw to your bank , like wtf?! lol.

So funds on way to bank now, will try to get a live game in tomorrow.... in meantime purchased some alcohol, and tried twitch again i never have any luck getting streams to work.

But thought i'd give it another go, my friend said, it's lagging as you can't change source quality, so seems its not working correctly , but in case i'm still streaming when you read this and you want to say hi... this url is....

www.twitch.tv/skilfulpoker

the plus side, is the stream is bringing me luck, lol. Deposited 30 euros, up 1.5 stacks at 10nl :D almost paid for the alcohol i purchased tonight!

I watched a bit of the stream, very entertaining! You should stream more often, definitely one of the more exciting streams I've seen

I debate
Should I smile like everything's good and pretend that life is great
Or should I let the world see the real me and not hide this pain
I tried to be like the rest of y'all, sorry I just can't
I'ma probably die this way

ha thanks @Magicadil

aside from technical errors such as i was chatting to myself for an hour after my break, as i left the mic muted (i laughed so hard before when i saw people do this, thinking what idiots, but now i realise its an easy mistake to make lol)

then i just ended my last part of stream, to realise i was streaming the chat and not the tables, last half hour lol.

But traffic has died down on unibet now so will call it a night for now. Might place a bet if anything takes my fancy but in meantime.

Stream definately kept me honest, i usually would have tilted already lol :d

Had a great night of roullete on Unibet, and when i got lucky enough to win a few big spins, relative to my small bankroll, i was smart enough to reduce my stake all the way to .50c a bet ha :D

somehow I won... back to poker soon, very good entertaininment tonight, will be nice to win a few 10nl stacks now :D

the dealers were good fun, never actually spent time to chill in one of the online roullete streams, i usually just go and place a bet and dissapear, but they are quite entertaining lol. Anyway so far so good. Miraculously my £30 is now £180 and i left the roullete floor, and will head back to poker in a bit :d

Hey all, things have gone ok last few days. I went to play live poker and lost, but only about 1.4 stacks at 100nl. I had some good fun playing live, and also went to a club after which was nice.

Yesterday I slept, as I arrived home at about 7am, on Tuesday morning!

Today I've decided to make a good attempt at making a bit more profit on Unibet. I received the money I withdrew from Unibet (~ £190) and will deposit 12 stacks for 10nl (~ £100). I think it's a good plan to withdraw now and again as just the few days it takes to receive your money I think is a usuful pause, so you can think about what you want to do with your poker bankroll objectively, if you've just run it up a bit.

Live poker and socialising/drinking etc. is nice fun, but all things in balance I say! Have some work to catch up on today, since I took monday/tuesday off to enjoy some live poker, so my plan is to 'knuckle down' and pay some attention to that rest of this week, which is why I'm now focussing on online poker mainly, alongside my day job.

To try to make it a bit more exciting for myself, I've decided to have a go at the Pokerstrategy 'tankroll' plan. It's basically very aggressive shot taking up to NL100. But having a 'safety line' of 20 stacks, at NL4. I've also decided to forget about live poker until I complete this challenge...

Here's the bankroll plan I'm going to be following:

NL4

This will be the 'protection line' and I'll always move back down to 4NL if ever the bankroll gets to 80. Barring getting unlucky I think 20 stacks should be enough for NL4.

NL10

I'll move up to NL10 when I have 10 stacks for it, so 100. and if I lose 2 stacks, I'll move back down to NL4 (i.e. at 80 bankroll). The challenge will start here too, as I plan to initially deposit 120 euros. Which means I have a 4 buy-in cushion originally before having to move down to NL4.

NL25

Move up to NL25 when bankroll reaches 150. Move back down to NL10 when bankroll reaches 100.

NL50

Move up to NL50 when bankroll reaches 275, move down to NL25 when bankroll reaches 150.

NL100

Move up to NL100 when bankroll reaches 575 , move down when bankroll reaches 275.

Challenge will be complete when bankroll reaches 1000.

In addition to the cash games, I can also play any 5man SNG providing it's at the buy-in requirements for the cash bankroll plan (e.g. if I'm at the NL25 step, I can play 25 and below SNGs).

That’s some absurdely aggressive bankroll management right there but it’s still reasonable if you hold on to that. The reason why most players prefer a 20+ buy-in BRM is that they are scared to play with scared money or tilt their bankroll away chasing their losses. Loosing two stacks can happen within 5 minutes and if you play NL100 with €500 you will be down to just €300 – that can numb some people’s minds. So take care and good luck!

Hey guys!

@KrustyTheClownyes i experienced variance before :P just like to have some edge to the games when I play, to make them more exciting :)

@GamesDeangreat point, about it being doable if you have a rock solid mental game, online my mental game is not great, which is why I try to treat the sessions as entertainment as much as anything else these days. I used to be ultra serious about doing well at online poker, but now I just try to do the best I can and have some fun at the same time :)

Yesterday I decied to place a 80 euro bet on Mr Kohlschreiber, and despite him going a set up he lost! Woops!

One of the things with the tankroll plan that I read when I was looking into it, is it says you should not count any rakeback etc towards your winnings for bankroll purposes, So i didn't which meant their was 5 euros (in 1 euro SNG tickets) left in the bankroll by close of play yesterday.

I had a work meeting yesterday night and was tired after, so went to bed really early, which meant I ended up waking up at about 1.30am this morning.

Well I felt like playing a bit, so thought I'd have a go at seeing what I can do with the 1 euro SNG tickets. Was nice to see @BillyR23 on stream in the wee hours and yes played pretty well I think and ran ok. Managed to double the fledging bankroll to 12 euros. Playing just 1 euro SNGs.

Today I will be playing some more, and trying to continue the little recovery. I was thinking today that's the good thing with this site, you can play bad (e.g. not follow bankroll management) - not that I'm advocating anyone try this lol. But you can, and still have a reasonable chance of rebuilding if your bad bankroll management hasn't worked out quite so well.

I listened to some Alan Watts yesterday (there's a tonne of his stuff on youtube) but I bought one of his books lately on audible , he's one of the best speakers I ever heard talk about really deep stuff. He was at his height in the 60s, is a trained zen master also I think amongst other things (well he's definately into zen, and sounds like a master). Anyway, he was talking people's approach to life, and said the key is people need to remember life is a game. I like that thinking, I mention this because he also talked about poker lol, yes i was surprised. He said poker players that play bad often do so because they forget poker is a game.

He compared this to the game of life, and said people need to realise life is like poker, it's a game really, and sometimes people just get too blinkered about little things, forgetting the nature of our existence etc. Anyway lol, sorry for the philosophical little sidetrack here, just felt like sharing the idea, because it's something I'm going to be taking forward the next few days as I try to actually become more of a winner at online poker, remembering it's all a game.

and if you can have some fun + profit = great.

if you can have some fun and not profit = pretty decent.

if you don't have fun and don't profit = no point.

I'm having a tonne of fun at the moment, trying to accomplish this little feb challenge, so if I don't profit i guess that's ok :D

Right now though since I started the thread I think I'm still up a bit, thanks to the cashout earlier in the month.

Next time I update this thread I want to tell you we are nicely building the bankroll up again still, or it's taken a hit, but we've played solid and stuck to the tankroll plan.

Tomorrow is the Unibet Community freeroll which i'm looking forward too. Another great fun aspect.

Strategy wise I think i'm going to write something about ICM soon, because it's something I only have a vague understanding of, and I think it would be good to improve at the SNGs to really master it. Hopefully as I'm learning how to be a better player along the second half of Feb, and sharing what I learn in the thread we can learn together.

Today's learning point is, to remember poker is a game, to have fun and try to profit, but make sure you're always having fun no matter what!

Have a good Thursday...

It was fun to watch but too bad I couldn't stay longer (needed at least 2 hours of sleep :) ).

Glad that you continued to RunGood and made profit by grinding SNGs :cash::cash::cash:

See you next time you stream, hopefully during the day and maybe this way more people can join; for sure we can learn lots of things by watching you play 👍

You cannot have a positive life and a negative mind...

Well the rebuild is well and truly in progress!

I continued on playing 1 and then 2 euro games, until I reached 20 euros.

Then i took a shot at 4 euro cash NLH , with 5 stacks made 5 stacks profit at 4nl, and am just taking a break now so the bankroll is at 40 euros and well and truly on the road to being healthy(ish) again!

Will be firing up another set shortly and streaming over on http://www.twitch.tv/skilfulpoker
