NeriPoker
When I had a bit of poker coaching earlier in the year (still a fish), I remember my coach saying these days all the money was in mtts. But more recently I heard top online mtt specialist Alex "Assassinato" Fitzgerald on a podcast say that there was more money in the cash games but you had to grind long hours to realise that. So I turn to the Unibet community and ask: Where is the money at in poker these days?

MoreTBC
@Magicadil wrote: Live - Cash GamesOnline - MTTs+1 although I would say it's slightly different at Unibet. I think the majority of the play is cash on Unibet because of the rake levels. Outside the single big Saturday and Sunday MTT you're not going to get much over €200 for a win. Compare that to some of the other sites and you can get 1000x your buy in if you get through the fields. Have you read my blog HERE... It's long isn't it :)

ArtyMcFly
All the money goes to whoever is on your left. :)Tourneys are much softer (and ultimately more profitable) than cashgames, because casual players prefer tourneys. I don't think it's close. The only problem is the epic amount of variance that you're subjected to when playing donkaments.I find small field satties are a good way to limit the size of the swings while also providing a decent bang for the buck. Being a fulltime MTT grinder is pretty much the definition of insanity imo, but the luckiest of those insane people make a lot more money than the cashgamers. It's just not what you'd call a steady income. Unless your name is Fedor.
NeriPoker
Some good comments. Online cash games just seem so dead to me lately and I was shocked by Assassinato's comments on them, shame because I really like the convenience of cash. As a recreational player with a full time job and family commitments I think I've got to be in the tournaments on the weekend and using my limited poker time to get that big bink! I can dream but it's good to know that the money is in MTTs these days just in case I am gifted with the run good one time.

ChapInAChair
MTTs. Every pro I've spoken to thinks this is the case and I can see why. The consensus on this thread seems to be that the live money is in cash games but my understanding is that live tournaments are the softest games around. That said, I've bought into live tournaments approximately 12 times this year and cashed precisely zero so what the hell do I know?
