I will be playing in the WSOP Main Event!

So exciting news. I work at an animal shelter that rescues and rehabilitates stray animals. During my spare time I'm always playing Poker on my phone & there's a couple that adopt pets then find good homes for them. They're regulars at the facility. They asked me today 'You're always playing Poker on your phone. Winning much?' And I replied with 'Not really. Probably never enough to support me but It's a fun game to play to pass the time.'

We talked for half an hour and they brought up that it's extremely cold outside and during these days wild animals tend to be extremely hostile & that they respect the people who do this kind of work.

Long story short, the lady had recently sold her business and offered to put up 85% of the buyin if I wanted to play in the WSOP Main Event. 😀

This is an extremely exciting day for me because I'll finally be able to play in an Event I've watched every year for the past 5-6 years.

😃 😃

Now only thing that's left is to figure out what I'll do in Vegas besides the poker since I don't drink. Anyone whose been to Vegas have any recommendations?

I debate
Should I smile like everything's good and pretend that life is great
Or should I let the world see the real me and not hide this pain
I tried to be like the rest of y'all, sorry I just can't
I'ma probably die this way

We're gonna win on so many levels! We're gonna win, win, win. You're gonna get so tired of winning, you're gonna say: "Mr. President please, we don't wanna win anymore, it's too much!" And I'm gonna say: "I'm sorry, we're gonna keep winning because we're gonna make America great again!"

Congratulations! You can have a lot of fun in Vegas not drinking,

For cash games I usually end up at Aria or Venetian.

Pro-tip, while checking in to your hotel - slip the clerk a $50 with your passport and ask if there is a possibility of an upgrade. If there is, you will most likely get it and if not, they'll just say no and not take the money. Usually good to check in early when rooms arestill available. Also, always keep a roll of $1-notes for tips, they whole city is based on those.

Have fun!

Good luck in Vegas!

You need to bring more money with you than you think you're going to spend. I've only played wsop side events in Vegas since I can't afford the buy-in of 10k.  I also played a couple of deep stack tournaments at Venetian , in my opinion the best poker room in Vegas, check them out, Venetian is something unique .

Rio is a boring casino away from the strip ,  except for the fact that WSOP is held there. 😃

Congrats ! I'm glad you got the chance to play and I wish you the very best of luck in the event. Such a nice lady! 😀 (Also shows that good deeds are rewarded. Helping animals is a great cause.)

I've only been to Vegas once and only stayed for one night - and that was several years ago, so I'm sure everything looks different now. The Bellagio water shows were quite amazing, but other than that I can't really give you any sightseeing tips. I think pretty much got you covered though. 😃

Would you be so kind as to ask the couple if they could take in an old indian stray whose in dire need of some tlc. Im fully house trained although i do occasionally have an accident due to my age

It should be added that he plays rather aggressively, but he still runs very good. And don't leave any chips around, because he's known for stealing them. But tell them that when he's a pain in the ass, they could just let him sit out for a while.

Thanks for all the great advice everyone.

I will definitely check out some bike trails. I also heard there's lots of Wildlife habitats so that will definitely be top priority as well.

Since I don't plan on making many trips to Vegas I will definitely take a look around clubs and the night life just to get an insight of what the hype is all about. 🆒

@Magicadil, your friend Kassouf is just better and better, careful with him in Vegas:

"The final ever EPT took place in Prague this week and the final champion of the tour, taking down the €10,300 High Roller, was none other than William Kassouf. He took home the trophy, the title and €532,500 after satelliting in for €1,600. Not a bad way to celebrate your birthday Will. "

Later today we'll see the start of Day A of the 2017 WSOP Main Event! So all the best and good luck to @Magicadil, I'm sure this will be an extremely exciting day for you! I'm also looking forward to your trip report about your time in Vegas and what you did there in your spare time away from the WSOP tables.

Wow,  I'm surprised that Jamie Gold somehow found his way into the main event again. Who stakes such a fool?
