Unibet Open Bucharest - Live Updates Thread

Well that was a blast!

Had a great time in Romania.  Poker (for me) wasn't so good this time, but it was great to meet up with members of the community and Unibet staff, and to also explore a new country for me.

Getting knocked out in a poker tournament is usually a miserable experience.  However thanks to the Unibet staff for organising all the events from the welcome drinks to the players' party which made the time in Romania a memorable and enjoyable one.  Lots of new experiences including my table receiving an official table warning from the floor following complaints from other players as we were enjoying ourselves too much!  Well I suppose there was the small question of about €800,000 of prize money being played for in various tournaments going on around the room.  But did they win a Unibet hoodie?  Perhaps they were jealous.

Must admit to being a bit apprehensive beforehand about walking around an unknown city alone.  However, it was absolutely fine and everyone was friendly and relaxed.  I felt safer walking around Bucharest than I have in my many other places.  There was however one occasion when I spotted someone walking towards me and thinking I need to keep an eye on this guy.  There were a lot of people walking around but this guy was the only one that stood out.  Turns out it was only @VikingsAF !!!   Not that he's dodgy looking of course - it's just I picked up something unusual about him from a distance and thought it an idea to keep an eye on him.  I think it was the fact he was alert to everything around him, which was in contrast to everyone else who were nonchalant.  Must have been my poker senses working - shame they didn't work so well in the Main Event when I needed them!

I hope you are feeling better @Ametrine and that my directions to the Christmas Market worked for you @Hymn2Ninkasi.

Missing the last bus was a good excuse to stay for another hour at the club although going to sleep at 7.13am (according to my fitness tracker) wasn't perhaps the best idea with a mid day check out and an unpacked case.  Now I know why so many people turned up for day 1b instead of day 1a and stayed an extra day!  Just about got through the rest of the day including the 110 mile drive from the airport. Although my tiredness did trip me up at the airport when I bought lots of goodies not realising the prices were in euros.  I thought I had gotten myself a bargain until I saw the dreaded word 'Euros' on the receipts when I got home.  Oh well.

Finally, well done everyone who took home a bit of extra cash in their pockets.  For the rest of us - better luck next time!

Looking forward to seeing some of you in Manchester on Saturday.

Was I alert of everything around me? :p Maybe sometimes it seems like I am staring, because I actually don't see sharp anymore, but I'm to lazy to wear glasses :p

But it's the first time I heard something like that actually

:Cheeky: That was too easy. I just wanted to say that I enjoyed your reports and pictures and followed throughout the weekend. I'm definitely trying to qualify for a future event, especially if it's in a city you'd normally not consider visiting.

We're gonna win on so many levels! We're gonna win, win, win. You're gonna get so tired of winning, you're gonna say: "Mr. President please, we don't wanna win anymore, it's too much!" And I'm gonna say: "I'm sorry, we're gonna keep winning because we're gonna make America great again!"

Hope that didn't come across wrong @VikingsAF.   It could have been any of the poker players and I assumed that you were thinking exactly that about me as you approached. I was certainly keeping an eye out for everything like I normally do in new places, partly caution and partly curiosity. As it turned out Bucharest was fine to walk around.

Forgot to say - the stuffed olives I was eating at the time was a bargain from the local supermarket. 40p for about 15. Would have cost a fortune back home.

Had a great time in Bucharest. Unibet community guys were fab, Marco, Stubbe and the Minnesota kid Jeppe.

Had the pleasure of meeting so many great people, far too many to name all. Will try and do a report later as ive got the flu and feeling unwell.

Hi all, I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed playing in the Unibet Community side event in Bucharest and it was lovely meeting & interacting with so many of you:)

Well done to @VikingsAF for winning! He played very well, was terminating everyone like a boss from the very start, so no surprise he ended up shipping it 🆒 :cash:

Big thank you to @AndreiBN for all the lovely pics; you seem to have a natural skill for photogtaphy🆗

It was lovely meeting you @Ametrine glad to hear you had a lovely time and hopefully see you at the next Unibet stop:)

Hi @balticblonde and welcome to the community :D

Congrats on winning the Battle Royal once again!!! ;)

I really had a lot of luck with terminating everyone. Sometimes you can have days like these :D The ticket I won for knocking you out is on to a good purpose right now :) Those tickets are given away right now (together with some others)

I think we didn't really talk to eachother (except maybe when I was drunk, but then I wouldn't remember 😏 ), so that's maybe for a next Unibet Open (if I'm able to get back to one :p )
