MTT/tournament feedback and ideas autumn 2024

Recommended Posts

We're a bit short-staffed at the moment, and I'll be taking care of most things MTT schedule related for the next few months.

Therefore I thought I'd create a dedicated thread here, where you can give suggestions for guarantee increases (or decreases 😄 ), new tournaments, typos in descriptions etc. etc.

I'll be reading the thread daily and will try to reward with a few bonus points when suggestions are implemented 🙂

I've been thinking recently about getting back on the satellite trail for tourneys. I thought the live trail, the biggest weekly, Supernova, and biggest monthly, Supermoon. The live and Supermoon both have a dedicated qualifying tree for satties, but it's not easy to find a way into the Supernova path. There are plenty of €10-€100, seemingly on Sunday's, but I can only find 2x €1-€10 and 2x €2-€10, and these are both named Major qualifiers. With the Supernova being the biggest weekly tourney might it not be an idea to have its own dedicated qualifying path and a few more lower buy in qualifiers. Of course I've no idea on numbers, but I'll be interested to see your thoughts.

Just to add to the above there seems to be a real mixed bag of low buy in major qualifiers to all sorts of higher levels and many majors having their own dedicated qualifiers, I think the whole qualifier trail might need a little bit of a tidy.

Thanks! I have to admit it's been ages since I looked at the qualifier tree, and don't have time today due to the issues, but as I recall, it's quite simple:

  • There's a generic qualifier tree for all majors
  • There are qualifier "finals" for all the majors (typically close to tournament start)

If you include "Supernova" in the name, you just make it more restrictive and it'll appeal to less players than one that can be used for all majors. But it of course needs to be obvious then that Supernova is a major, so maybe that's where we'll need to make changes.

I could be wrong about the above. As I said, it's been ages since I looked at it, and it'll be a few weeks before I've caught up fully with all things MTT 🙂

More tournaments, simply. Just 1-3 playable MTTs hardly justify opening Unibet client.

Some additional decently fast 25€ and 50€ PKOs might work well.

Bringing back R/A's is likely too late.  Except maybe some additional R/A satellites. 1-2 daily for 100€ events and some for 50€ events with 5€ buy-in might work, and latter would also support additional 50€ events.

Also add some later 10€ R/A satellites for 100€ events for Sunday, late reg is open for Supernova until late (and one can always reg next week event if they prefer).

yeah... I mentioned it a little while ago on my blog, 5th entry here

Did you read the previous posts here?

What you're saying in that thread essentially isn't correct, as Supernova is a major. See my post just above yours 🙂

More tournaments = smaller guarantees. I don't know the schedule well enough to say whether you're right, but I do believe we're at a target tournament count now, where it's at least questionable just throwing in a bunch of tournaments, as the cash buy-in won't increase enough to cover the guarantees, and then we're looking at overlay either in target tournaments or qualifiers. Happy to look into this later, cause I could definitely be wrong and maybe there is room for more 🙂

Also some late evening / early night 25€ hyper PKO and 10€ banzai bounty would be fun.

Banzai bounty I'm of course all for. Happy to do a trial with those. If I find the time, you might see another one next week.

It's not so straightforward as new MTTs would automatically cannibalize old ones. Many players play many tables and ignore Unibet, if there are just 1-2 MTTs for their schedule. They may come and play if there are more so that tide brings all MTTs up.

If Stars for example would cut all but one 55$ "Bigger" event from each buy-in level, their player numbers would shrink close to zero.

For instance I have been skipping opening Unibet almost completely outside of Sundays since there is so few MTTs for my bankroll and interests to play (real R/A's which got killed, fast PKOs with meaningful buy-ins, banzai bounties 5€+). I actually did notice extra 5€ Banzai Bounty starting 20:15 EET last month or so which actually tempts me to open software much more now if I start my session before it and might play Title Fight alongside, beforehand I didn't even consider it.

Of course marketing new MTTs is a bit challenging as always, but good bells can be heared from far away. And I think adding those late evening fast MTTs will keep people on Unibet software and in addition of playing those new tournaments they might find something else to play while waiting for them to start.

I'd take a page out of star or GG's book and just run some "mini" versions of the big weekly/monthly tournaments. Anyone playing the €250 Supermoon is gonna flick it in the "Mini Supermoon" it's just good branding, "Mini Title Fight", "Mini Supernova" etc. can make the blind levels faster since you aren't paying as much in rake so can't get the same value.

Hi Stubbe. We need a 25eur buyin 6max PLO PKO event. im pretty sure its gonna be succesfull even with a lower guarantee and it will have more succes than the 10eur PLO that is currently running.  And also pls make sure that in every Sunday that u are running the Supermoon u move that 8 seats gtd sattie to run one hour before the Supermoon starts, because rn it starts one hour after the Supermoon. It wouldnt be much of a stretch to move it down 2-3 hours just in the Sunday that the target event takes place.

3pm could do with a 10 or 25 buyin tournament, seems a weak spot in the schedule

A couple daytime 10 buyin hypers/turbos

Let 10eur session saver run on sundays too

Its very tough to multitable on ur site if wanting to play some hyper mtts. Can the time to act clock be increased slightly.

10 buyin supernova that isnt a 2  day tournament

A monthly phase tournament, phase ones only run fri-sunday

When is the next online series?

Bring back some 4e tournaments? I remember some years ago there were a couple of nice 4e tournaments.
Or at least delete the possibility to buy "4E MTT Ticket" from Bonus Shop > Tournament Tickets. Maybe somebody buys the ticket and doesn't have the chance to use it.

And how about some mystery bounties tournaments? Not sure if this was discussed or not.
One per day for 2-5-10-25e buy-ins might have success and even attract some new players.

€4 ticket removed from shop. Thanks!

Next UOS is later this year. End of the month there'll be a turbo PKO series (higher buyins) 🙂

Will look at other suggestions tomorrow

Guarantee of both €5 Banzai increased + added another €5 Banzai a bit later 🙂

I would love to see bit shorter levels for Banzai Bounties. 20 min (or event 15 minutes) for first level would be sufficient. 30 minutes feel really stretched (although often bust at first hand 😄 ).

There's nothing to move, as it's already set to be earlier on the 1st Sunday of the month. It's because the guys moved it around last month, so that it was the 2nd SUnday of the month, and then a change to the qualifiers needs to be done, and that was forgotten 🙂

A late night €5 Banzai would also be good, maybe at 23.15 GMT (00.15 CEST) for example. Thanks!
