World Championship competition, Tuesday 29.11

Time for even more World Cup community competition action! 🏆

For every remaining day of the 2022 FIFA World Cup we will be making picks on a set of questions regarding all the matches of the day.

To keep things as simple as possible, we will be using the community poll feature for submitting the picks.

Points for correct picks will be based on Unibet sportsbook odds, and you will see the potential points for a correct answer in brackets (...) on every selection. So basically this will be very much like the SuperToto competitions most of us are used to, with the exception that this have a new competition every day, and there will be no overall leaderboard.

NEW ADDITION: Opta stats will be used for settling anything regarding player performances.

 

Prizes for 3 highest daily total points are credited in poker tickets and are as follows:

1st prize: €50 Majors MTT ticket + €25 Majors MTT ticket

2nd prize: €50 Majors MTT ticket + €10 Majors MTT ticket

3rd prize: €50 Majors MTT ticket

If two or more players finish in a prize position with the exact same amount of points, ticket prizes will not be divided in any way, but the "first to post"-rule will be used as a tie-breaker, so first to post their picks will always have the advantage over the other one(s).

 

The poll will automatically close at the time of the first kick-off at 16:00 CET, and you will have no way of submitting your picks after that has happened. So don't leave things too late. 🙂

I will also be participating despite hosting this and choosing the events, but all the picks are public and I'll be making my picks very early, so that should hopefully be fine for everyone.

We didn't get any high points awarding results, so it wide open as it is. Feels like a getting a nicely paying goalscorer on Wales - England could well be the decisive thing today. Or maybe the exact scores in case there'll be a goals galore on either of the matches.

Woop woop, finnaly 🤑 Too bad I lost 1st place just because of the scorer void issue. Would be better to pick someone who did not play and get this 1 point rather than getting 0 points. Especially when none of the players who were listed actually scored so the most beneficial were those who have chosen the players that actually did not play. But rules are rules I guess...

We have to go with the sportsbook rules on all the questions, and non starter is a void.

It's not easy to pick a shortish list of players a day beforehand that are guaranteed to play on this type of a tournament where there's only a couple of rest days between matches. I did my best, but on this one 3 of the 8 didn't start. Sucks, but what can ya do. Can't put the whole roster up for obvious reasons, so 6 - 10 players with some variance on the odds is logical. And for the record, never crossed my mind Sterling wouldn't be starting when picking him. You can take an easy one point tomorrow from the shots on goal on Australia - Denmark ( in case there's a non starter ) if you wish, and haven't posted your picks yet 🙂

   Dear oh dear oh dear! Am I destined to keep talking through my wallet. 

   Belgium, 3rd in the last World Cup and currently ranked 2nd with their own Golden Generation wait to the last half of the last game before actually looking like they were going to try. We all (should) know there's a time to be cautious and a time to go for it, but Belgium sat there watching their chips dwindle away before desperately starting to shove, in the end with any two, and ultimately paying the price and crashing out. Not quite as bad as Denmark but not far ahead. At least Croatia, runners up last time, did go for a goal, knowing if they were caught out late there might not be enough time to recover, however I don't see them as potential winners. Quite a few managers now showing shortcomings in the tactical department of negotiating a qualifying group.
