Hi Everyone,

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the MTT schedule we've created a new tournament, based on customer feedback, called the Protostar Bounty. It will run tonight and tomorrow as well as Tuesday-Thursday next week. This tournament has a smaller starting stack than most of the other PKOs in the schedule but has longer levels. The idea behind this is that this will provide more action with the stacks being smaller without it feeling like a turbo (hopefully :)). We've also kept the late registration short to make sure players are not entering the tournament with a small stack and limited it to a single re-entry to allow players to get back into the action if they catch a bad beat in the early levels. As a final bonus, the rake is pretty good on this too ;)

Below is a breakdown of the structure:-

Start Time: 18:00 CET

Buy-in: €2 (€1.94+€0.06)

Guarantee: €200

6-max

Starting Stack: 3000 (100bb)

Late Registration/Single re-entry available until the end of level 4 (50bb starting stack at this level).

Level time: 10 minutes

Buy-in is split 50/50 between prize pool and bounty and when you knock a player out their bounty will be split 50/50 between cash to you and money on your own bounty.

We'd really like to get your feedback on this tournament so if you play it please let us know what you though about the structure, the length and speed of the tournament and anything else you liked/disliked about it. The blind structure we're using for this is not ideal for what we'd like this tournament to ultimately look like (would like shallower blind level increments) but if you guys like the idea of it we can get a new structure added into the client to make this tournament even better.

As an extra incentive to provide some feedback if you..

  1. Make a final table on any of the Protostar bounties
  2. Post a screenshot of the final table with you on it in this thread
  3. Leave some constructive feedback

I'll refund your buy-in as a €2 MTT ticket. (SE, BE and DK players cannot receive a ticket unfortunately)

Offer ends 23:39 UTC 19/07/2020

Good luck to everyone that plays and we look forward to your feedback.

Great improvement showing Unibet is looking out for its players. We need more of these changes across all stakes and tournament types: longer levels, less re-entries and skipping the ridiculous 100+bb levels. They just make no sense, they were literally invented by poker sites (pokerstars playing a major role in this) to extend late reg periods to make more money. If your progressive level tournaments wouldn't have the addons and such late registration, these could become amazing tournaments as well. Ending late reg at about 25-40bb starting stacks should become the norm.

Please keep in mind to not only keep adding new tournaments but rather replace/transform tournaments and merge different ones into a single better tournament.

I find myself much more excited by being able to play 1 or 2 good mid-stakes freeze-outs than about 4-8 tabling low stakes while splashing rebuys/addons all over the place. I also very much liked your 2-day tournament structures, knowing the day will end at 12 or 1am is comforting to know, even for me as a student with little daily obligations. Keep it up, and keep stealing the good stuff from other networks like Partypoker and make it even better ;)

If you want more info on this topic, you can read Rob Yong's open letter (or watch the latest poker life podcast with Yong

) or listen closely to what people like Patrick Leonard have to say about this. As Yong points out: recreational poker players might go gamble on your network with their remaining money (which is much more +EV for the casino), but only if they have some left and if they've had an enjoyable experience.

Really like the idea of 1 single re entry and also the 4 level late reg. seem to find too many MTT's now with late reg going on for too long, seen a tourney on stars yesterday with 3 hours 45 min late reg, some on unibet 2 hours just seems far too long imo.

I would like to see the guarantees increased. I play a lot of low/micro stakes tourneys on unibet and love the site, however noticed in the last few months guarentee's seem to be dropping drastically on almost all low stakes. Black hole down to €2k from €3.5k Titan down from €5k to €3k. Understand it's down to less players, but could there not be maybe one a week at the inflated guarantee go try and increase the player the player pool. On the whole I think unibet are doing well, the rake free home games have been a massive step in the right direction, one that nobody else I know has done so well done for that.

It's good to see unibet trying to come up with alternative options and ideas of how to move forward with players in the mind of that progression too. Hopefully this new tourney works well, I'll certainly be giving it a go as the idea seems great, maybe blind levels could be decreased to 6 min levels, but trial and error is the way to go. ShockG

Brings a new meaning to having a big pair.

Appreciate all the feedback so far on this, without anyone playing, and happy to see players thing it's a positive move.

Just wanted to quickly reply on a few things :-

  • Level Time - This isn't ideal, I agree, but we were restricted by the blind structures available to us. Ideally the level time would be quicker but the blind increments would be shallower so that we would have 5 levels of late reg that would last one hour total. If the test is a success hopefully we can get a new structure added and use it for some of our other PKOs
  • Rob/Pads - Both Rob's open letter and Pads comments on ecology played a part in the setup of this test tournament. While we are competitors in one sense, we're also on the same team when it comes to growing and sustaining online poker and I think they both have good ideas and have no shame in borrowing them if it's going to make poker better :)
  • GTDs - The guarantees always lower in the summer months but we expect them to rise up again as we move into the autumn months.

Good luck to anyone playing tonight!

I share almost completely the views of @Onefloatyboi ...

On a more general side, I'd like to see the payout structure of the freezeouts and bounty tournaments tweaked a bit as now it's too top-heavy and not optimal for the gameplay near bubble and afterwards.

Couldn't agree more. Long late regs and allowing multiple re-entries is a real turn off for me.

Hi All,

First tournament ran for 4 hours and 49 minutes and the winner took home €56.92.

Although the average stack looked good throughout the tournament general feedback is that run time is a little too long. With this in mind I will provisionally change next weeks tournaments to run with a variable level time structure where the first 6 levels will run for 8 mnutes and the rest of the tournament will run for 9 minutes.

If anyone has any other feedback or suggestions for th etournament please let me know.

PKOs have almost the same prize for 1st and 2nd to flatten out the top payouts. What else would you like to see changed?

@Andy-Unibet  I completely agree. Almost no choice. almost all tournaments are 8 minutes long.

spend 5 hours and win nothing. it hurts 😃

The only thing i don't like is the 10 minutes level . I think is too much to play a micro mtt for 6 hours+

Players were ITM at around 02h:30m of play in last nights tournament and the final table of 6 started after 03h:15m play.

OK, i had to done it:

The blind structure was so deep that my patience payed out, so with 2 bounties this was the reward (EDIT: i am fkin good at folding. I am a bit (or too) careful for this PKO.)

804285458_2ndbestpstar.png.140de633d7c14d66d14b6a739ffea610.png

The card distribution was so bad for me that J8o was my bast hand at HU and J3o beat me with 3 pair. I felt so fkin embarrasssed that in HU i just fold....

That 9 - 8 min level will be better.

Anyway, @Andy-Unibet TIKIET PLS!!! :D

This change was really good, but still the top places get too much and the min. cashes are too small. It could happen to reach the final table just to get ~ the buy-in back if no bounties are won.

Min-cash in the Proto has been more than the buy-in and FT was over 3x. I'm not sure of how the payouts look for other PKOs but if you're moving half the prize pool to the bounties it's going to make all the payouts smaller, it's jus the nature of the format.
