It may not be a huge profit, but on the bright side it's not a loss. Now, 🤔 I wonder what I can buy for 6 pence! 😂

Although there are a couple of more possibilities to back this evening I'll sign off the month with a winner. 😀

I'm just tidying up all my accounts now, getting them all levelled up neatly, ready for a 3 month end of year assault. Confidence is high but that being such a fragile thing I'll leave it at that and say no more.

POKER

A new quarter so a new reset. Withdrew £126 so according to all the interweb perceived wisdom I'm now going to go on a downswing.   I spent all my bonus points, buying 4 x €8 cash tickets and a couple of smaller tickets to throw on the banzai, plus an assortment of about 75c worth of mtt tickets. I'll probably end up forgetting about those, I have done for two days 🤔 and I still have the 2 x €250 UB live tickets to play. Those are dated into January so I'm going to leave those for the time being.

Two short sessions of 4 tabling both started terribly but I managed to pull them back somewhat, just about up at the moment.

RACING

A good couple of days to start with.

ROULETTE

Not a lot to say really, I'll either win or lose. The attempt is to increase the theoretical br of £100 (1,000 x 10p units) by 1% per day, doubling it in 70 days.

  • 2 weeks later...

One NL4 ticket and one Banzai still going, very little played. 🥱

image.thumb.png.2f4f8c6b3d84551d8b96c0c42dc8b5ff.png

No horses backed lately but three draws picked out this weekend and all obliging.

The roulette ticking over and back on schedule after a sticky start.

287967353_Screenshot(3029).png.6068a605f1f6cb36b1dbcfa8d1ce72d9.png

1,025 units (£102.50) bet, 205 units (£20.50) won, a return of exactly 20% profit over a very small sample size. 😬

I'm just going to tick over now for the rest of the year. Rugby League World Cup started yesterday with a terrific win for England against a fancied side, the T20 Cricket World Cup started today and of course the big one next month, the FIFA World Cup. Triple for England?

Two quite tough days but still pressing ahead.

image.png.06c117a0386358ccd3f987ea329210d9.png

Today was nearly two and a half hours, a very long session by normal standards but eventually bet £64 (640 units) for £0.80 (8 units) profit. I've had better days but then I've had longer and worse days on the poker tables so

giphy.gif.beb074650d916522c9e3b0a596d1bc60.gif

£196.70 bet, £37.30 profit, a return of 18.96% and still 4 days or sessions ahead of schedule.

Still one Banzai and one 2-4c cash tickets running but slow going and no racing bets.

Have fun. 🥳

  • 1 month later...

And as the short break in the World Cup is upon us, time for the more mundane business of housekeeping.

The roulette took a back seat for a while, I very nearly made it to my target £100 profit before a long bad streak hit, only to be expected really, but back to business this morning and...

image.png.4f594a2c63efa074a522682a86cb2b4f.png

Some of the daily totals look a bit high but they're not really. The total bet was £633.90 and the actual return was a profit of £100.50, an rio of 15.85%. The small discrepancy for the casino total is from £5.76 won for the freespins collected in the World Cup Missions (hope that answers your question  @psrquack ) so for an unbeatable game I feel that's not at all shabby. 🥳

During the WCMissions the banzai ticket disappeared and the remaining cash ticket returned about €30 so a small loss overall, and I haven't had a horse bet for what seems like forever. Somehow I always seem to see the new year as a new reset so I'll just tick over, if anything, for the next few weeks and look for some new as well as continuing projects.

Have Fun all.

I had an odd €10 ticket left over and about to expire. Not really wanting to face a few hours play I regged to a flip and forgot about it. This morning...

Today took 8 minutes,16 hands, 5 flops, losing one buy in before getting going, and so far €3.76 up. 😂

The Sensei was on my table, a new player came on and took the lead off him in 4 hands, and 2 hands after that I'd taken the lead. It's definitely fast, furious and swingy.

How much do you bet here, if at all?

I think I would check it down until river, and then on the river I would decide based on my opponent (how bluffy they are)  between a half pot valuebet and checkraise, probably I would lean more towards a checkraise.

I checked the turn and villain checked back. So how often do you check for the third time and get a check back. I read time and time again against passive players you sometimes have to build the pot for them, it was a case of how much is enough. Luckily he felt his 7 was better than my obvious bluff attempt. 😂

You played well and like the overbet on the river. Players with 7x will pay. And maybe they will pay 2x, 33, 44, 55, 66, although they should have bet themselves on the previous streets. Players who have nothing can even go all-in trying to say "I have 9x", although this makes little sense.
But no fool will raise you with 7x hands, because it is a mathematically easy call, and there is simply nothing to raise with. Because only a complete fool can turn a 7x hand into a bluff.
But sometimes even players who understand how to play correctly in such situations still do something stupid.
And I was that stupid player.

Oh WOW, thanks for that reply @SShcherbyna I think that's the first time ever I've had confirmation of who I was playing against.

I don't think so, from your blog you're certainly no mug. I thought if I bet small he could snap it off even with only an Ace, and I was trying to work out what was the max he (you) would call. With you having such a big stack, which many players try to bully with, I was just hoping it would be seen as a bluff and called. The shove was a bonus. 😛

In general, my action in this situation is no longer a mathematical error, but a psychological one. I already lost my brown belt yesterday, in a situation where the table disintegrated. And it was already the end of the session, and I wanted to get a black belt as soon as possible to complete my challenge. In my city, the power goes out every 3-4 hours (after that it is gone for 3-4 hours), so sometimes I do even more stupid things, to be in time for the power outage.
So you can call it "Ukrainian poker strategy".😆😭

I'm just popping in and out of the Banzai park at the moment, sometimes a few hands at a time, sometimes a little longer.

Again I started with only 2 other players in the pool and biggest stack around €2.40 so no Sensei but a bad start , losing all ins one after another, often with the best hand pre but not making any headway. I was going to leave when I made 40 BBs but the rest on the table were small stacks and it's amazing when once getting on a roll things can turn round. Not too long after it did and I made Sensei for the third time, 🙂 (no QQ dealt though 😪)

I've made a small loss on the day so far but, making a pleasant change, had the bonus of clearing one of my €30 🎫  😃

66 flops to go on the other. Maybe tomorrow? 🤔

Yet another bad start today, probably 8 buy ins down before rising, but then it really is amazing how quickly things can turn around. From zero to 100 BBs and Sensei status in 7 minutes and 20 hands, admittedly very lucky in two of them, variance turning my way.

image.thumb.png.55090b75e5f8880d4fbe35cb87ccf69c.png

I was only Sensei for a minute or two and left the table as someone on another table overtook me. I noticed only 24 flops to go on the 2nd ticket so decided to complete that.

image.png.b9790de17a321e5074e58f4670f5d852.png

All played on one table over about 14 sessions, so no grinding involved.

Time played:   13:03

Hands:             1808                Around 139 hands per hour.

Flops:               400                  A flop seen every four and a half hands.

Profit:               €15.56             8.6 BBs/ 100 hands.

I'm quite pleased with those figures (any plus makes me smile 😃) even though it is a tiny sample, and pleased with the fact I've kept playing even when 8-10 buy ins down, on the few occasions I play if I'm 4-5 buy ins down I quit., I normally would be

giphy.gif.f5e513e8d958c38ea70e4d0c604a5539.gif

It's fun for me in shortish bursts, I'm not sure I could cope with the swings over a sustained period, maybe I'll try to find out.

As I see you have been evolved to Master of Banzai. What do you feel, this make you go allin at the regular tables more often?

I'm nowhere near a master of Banzai but am enjoying playing a little, see SScherbyna's blog for a Master class. 😃

Since starting Banzai I've only played one "normal" cash session after I reached Sensei on a mission before completing it so continued on cash. I may have been all in twice then but only because the situation demanded it, not because I'd suddenly become trigger happy. 😃 So the short answer is no, the two varieties of poker have different tactics, especially at the start.
