Happy new year, guys! I wish you all the best and most importantly stay healthy.

One year ago I set myself the following goals for 2021:

1.)    Stay discipled! Respect my bankroll management!

2.)    Improve my SNG-, MTT- and satellite-play!

3.)    Play at least 10 UK Tour/UO satellites finals.

4.)    Reach the 25€ SNG level.

5.)    Stay away from the cash tables, HexaPros, casino slots and sports betting.

6.)    Make a Supernova (100€ buy-in) debut and a Big Bang (200€ buy-in) debut

Lots of things happened during the year. The new gambling regulations in Germany changed drastically the poker in the country. There was the closure of Unibet Poker in September, before that the UK Tour was cancelled, so some of my yearly goals were impossible to reach.

I respected my bankroll management, made my Supernova debut (the first and last time I played this tournament due to the closure of the product in Germany), studied a lot and improved my game.

Unfortunately, there were times of weakness, when I played some HexaPros, placed huge sports bets, etc., which I am not proud of. Let’s hope to minimize these moments (if possible to cut them completely from my game) in 2022.

Here is my plan for 2022:

  • I am going to play only MTTs this year; max 4-tabling.
  • Bankroll rule: 100 buy-ins for each level! My bankroll at the start of the year is 2000€ / $2260. I am going to start at the $22 buy-in level, moving down to the $16,50 level with $1650 left and moving up to the $33, when I reach $3300 and so on. There is no requirement for some numbers of tournaments at some level.
  • I am going to play 6 hours per week. 1,5 hours per week will be spend in reviewing my weekly session and studying.

I think playing 6 hours a week is not enough if you want some progress.

Hey @Merenitsu,

thank you for your reply!

It depends on the specific goals. Clearly if someone wants to become a professional poker player or to win a significant amount of money regularly, 6 hours per week are way too little.

But my main goal is to have fun and to play well.

Seems very reasonable I think as long you can keep the gambling rules in control, its gonna be a good year for you!

How is the rake managed now for Germans?

Hello @Estzen and thank you for your reply.

Right now there is no change for MTTs, which is one of the reason I switched to them. For SNGs there is 5,3% additional tax to the buy-in in form of rake, for cash games is more complicated. On top of that no promotions, no rakeback, 1000€ deposit limit per month and 4 tables max (per pokersite for now). Hard times for poker players in Germany, hopefully something goes in the right direction in the courts soon!

@LeVsKaRa

Jokerstars is offering 25+40 % RB right now, being paid out in cash, points (practically cash) and sometimes tournament tickets. So up to 65 % for you through their chests. The 40 % chest offer fluctuates from month to month and from player to player.

We're gonna win on so many levels! We're gonna win, win, win. You're gonna get so tired of winning, you're gonna say: "Mr. President please, we don't wanna win anymore, it's too much!" And I'm gonna say: "I'm sorry, we're gonna keep winning because we're gonna make America great again!"

@WuDuthank you for this information. I will try some MTTs on Pokerstars, but these are mostly with huge fields, which means more variance and also HUD is allowed there as far as I know. As I am not using it, it is a disadvantage for me.

My volume is reaaly low, so rakeback is not significant for me, but it is also nice to get some small rewards from time to time xD

Actually that is a topic that would be interesting to talk about as opponents using HUDs was one of my concerns as well. But the question is, is it really a disadvantage in MTTs and MTT-SNGs? Especially towards the end of these games, when it counts, a lot of your actions are determined by your position, the action before you, your position in the MTT, your chip-stack, the style/strength of your opponents, potential reads and so on.

Maybe I'm totally clueless but I don't think HUDs are that efficient. Notes however are a different story...

PS offers 18 man SNGs that are pretty similar to the Asteroid on Unibet. The 25 $ ones run without an issue and sometimes a 50 $ one gets enough players. First 4 getting paid with 10, 20, 30 and 40 % of the prize pool. Maybe these games are for you...

@WuDuHUDs are pretty big advantage for regulars who know how to use them. The problem with HUDs and Microstakes is that even tho, it helps to see a bit clearer awareness for your table - it usually is a very vague and broad idea how someone like that looks at that. Unless you dont have a hud, I actually wouldnt recommend playng at PS. Even tho, of course its pretty clear that you can make money playng without a hud too. Just if a player with same skill level plays with a hud, he makes more money than without it.

For me tho, the real value of tracker is a good ability to track your own hands. In an environmental sense tho, I like where Hudless networks have pushed that.

Hello guys,

long time no posts from me. One of the reasons was because of a problem with the log-in in the forum from Germany. Even with a vpn it wasn't working for a long time. But today it works.

I was really busy the last three months. There was a lot to do in the office and with the COVID restrictions almost entirely gone combined with the nice weather in Germany during February and March, I didn't invest enough time in poker.

To sum up I am on a downswing, nothing particularly too bad. But as I play very rare, the last cash feels like very long time ago (I know results shouldn't be measured in time, but in number of MTTs, etc.). Anyway the last cash was a nice one, I was very fortunate in this particular tournament and won lots of flips and hands like AKo>KK after all-in pre-flop.

Overall I am still in small profit during 2022. But my motivation for poker right now isn't very big. I haven't play in the last two weeks at all, don't really feel like much playing. I don't want to force myself, so if I don't play in the next few weeks, it is prfectly ok. I play mostly for fun.
