The British Open Foursome

The British Open Golf Championship is running from Thursday to Sunday and we’ve got a competition, which should get the interest of everyone who knows the difference between a slice and a hook :)

To participate you need to select 4 players for your British Open "team" before the competition starts on Thursday morning; and then you reduce your team to 3 players for the weekend. Your team score accumulates throughout the tournament and the member with the lowest amount of total shots wins.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Select a team of 4 from the British Open field, which you can find here by searching for All players.  You can only select one of the following players for your team: Jason Day, Dustin Johnson, Rory Mcllroy and Jordan Spieth.
  2. After the two rounds on Thursday and Friday you'll have to discard one of your team, leaving you with 3 active players going into the final two rounds. You must decide who to discard before the start of play, which is early on Saturday morning.  Should you not select one player to be removed from your team before then, you automatically forfeit the competition. If two of your team fail to make “the cut” on Friday, unfortunately you can’t go through to the final stage.
  3. Your team score will be the total shots of all 4 players for the first two rounds plus the total shots of your team of 3 for the last two rounds.

The total prize pool of €130 will be dealt to the top 3:
1st: €70
2nd: €40
3rd: €20

A big thanks to our golf enthusiast , who has been giving his advices and helped us out with the setup of this competition - he'll also be in charge of the daily leaderboard updates during the Open.

Jason Day, Adam Scott, Sergio Garcia, Henrik Stenson

I debate
Should I smile like everything's good and pretend that life is great
Or should I let the world see the real me and not hide this pain
I tried to be like the rest of y'all, sorry I just can't
I'ma probably die this way

An interesting format ...My 4 picks are

Dustin Johnson - looks like the man to beat this year after breaking his Majors 'duck' at Oakmont

Adam Scott - knows how to win a major and coming back into form.

Sergio Garcia - in the top 6 at the Open the last 2 years and has been in contention recently in USA

Scott Piercy - surprisingly high odds at 100/1 considering he has finished second at the US Open and at Bridgestone in June. Worth a small each way bet in my view.

(It all looks good on paper but I've never yet picked a winner when betting on golf - I just hope three of them get through to the weekend)!

1: Select a team of 4 from the British Open field:

Adam Scot
Dustin Johnson
Phil Mickelson
Lee Westwood

2: After the two rounds on Thursday and Friday you'll have to discard one of your team, leaving you with 3 active players going into the final two rounds:

Disgarding Lee Westwood so then are left with this 3 active players:

Adam Scot
Dustin Johnson
Phil Mickelson

Hope that is what  wanted , if not please tell me :)

Nothing is impossible, the impossible only take some time.

 - you dont need to decide who to discard yet - you wait till Friday evening and see how your players are doing (eg one of them might not make the cut; or three of the four might be doing particualrly well but the fourth could be way off the pace)

I will go for

  • Dustin Johnson
  • Adam Scott
  • Lee Westwood
  • Shane Lowry

Looking forward to watching the tournament on TV and seeing how each of teams perform.

   - are each of you going to enter a team? (you perhaps wont want to claim a prize if you win - but there could be office bragging rights at stake)
