Display unique threads in Latest Posts

Recommended Posts

This is pretty self explanatory, display unique threads in Latest Posts on the main page of the community forum. Right now any popular thread will just clog up that entire section, and it's pretty pointless since the thread gets highlighted and goes to top anyway when someone new posts. If displaying the popularity of a thread is also a concern then there could be a number of posts stat in parenthesis somewhere showing how many of the latest idk 20 posts are in that thread.

It's definitely needed and had a chat with a coder about it yesterday amongst a few other things as well. I've increased the number of posts the component displays to 7 for the time being, tried 10 for a little as well but it looked a bit crazy I thought.

It's an issue with the platform (**bleep**). There used to be a custom component in the right side showing exactly this, but as more and more content was added to the site, the code began to fail. The standard components can't show what you're asking for. They either show all latest posts (multiple from same topic) or just the latest topics created.

@JeppeL maybe worth giving the custom component a shot again? Believe it hasn't been tested for some time, so maybe they've fixed the issue :)

Now when multiple comps are running, the latest posts -section is simply overflooded with the comp answers submerging all the other more interesting posts far away from sight.
Is it possible to exclude the comps from the latest posts, and create a separate board for those or smth? Like the posts from help-section 😏

Edit. See? All new posts other than promos just gets drowned here immediately

Or make a "latest general posts" and add "latest promo post- board"

Edit: Not bad at all 👍, lol same as it's now mainly
Gets rid of the mess, and organizes it to quicly-readable for all ongoing topics.
The place where the "top liked authors" is could be used for the promotions solely imo, less important at first sight than the fast links

Edit2. Aah now i see, in a bit hurry to pack my stuff and hit the foodstore before the rush-hour..
Looks handy indeed, but the promo section would make it even cleaner

If anyone is having issue with the latest posts component not showing, please let me know. So far it seems to be working fine, but we've had out fair share of issues with it in the past :)

EDIT: seems to be an issue when you're not logged in, at least it's not showing for me then.

Great job guys, easier to browse and find what you want.👍

Almost missed the cool new feature at the bottom, can you raise it up somehow please?

The latest activity component (latest threads with activity) unfortunately doesn't seem to be working that well. Will probably go back to the old one tomorrow, but we will keep the promotions excluded from the main feed and have one dedicated to promotions. Will also keep users online and the other small changes made.
