Welcome back! 😛

Thank you mate! Great to hear from you! Short compared to the rest as usual! It was good to shake the cobwebs off. I will probably have another few hours tonight but I'm just looking forward to a good holiday this weekend and come back refreshed for some grinding.

Played a bit over the last week. I’ll do a profit update this weekend. Not been a great start though so expecting to show some pretty poor figures! Final tabled on of the plo rebuys then just seem to coast into a ‘C’ game and blew it. Not much has happened other than that. I do have an eye on some of these live events though. Would be great to get back out there with Unibet after all this time.

Good luck.

Fashionably late as usual but here is my profit update. And yikes! Rusty isn't the word and it's clear I need to do a bit of upskilling after being away for long spells for so long. But meh let's keep going and continue to learn. I know I'll turn it around eventually even through trial and error...... right????

Total Tournaments Played 221
Total Games Played 335

Total Won 508.82
Total ITM 50
Total ITM % 22.62%

Thank you sir. I'm not down about it I'm confident I'll do well enough over the next 6 months and just keep reading and learning.

It was a profitable day yesterday where I tripled my total buyins so hopefully can put a small run together before the inevitable downswing.

I had planned to grind yesterday after just dipping in and out of the last few weeks. I made a couple final tables and then over an hour spell really turned my game off and started making bad decisions. I felt after that the right thing to do was quit for the day and come back.

Not much action over the last week but managed to increase the profit nonetheless. A good few final tables in community games including a win in the 5e PLO has put my top of that leaderboard for now. Have a good weekend all.

Well, it's now over well over 3hrs since I was really in the mood to sit down and play some tournaments and came across your blog! Needless to say, I never even got to load the tournament lobby because I came across yours, which is quite a compliment, considering I haven't really had a chance to play much lately.

I'm relatively new to Unibet and the forum and so I've been trying to catch up with all the blogs. I'm a bit OCD like that, even though reading for any length of time is difficult for me these days. But I found it very addictive. Mostly I think, because you are one of the very few players that appears to think about the game in a similar way to me. By that I mean you lean more towards playing by instinct and gut feelings, reads, rather than the technical side. I think that is why you, like myself, tend to do better in live games rather than online. I may be wrong but that is how I have interpreted what I have read.

Personally, I'm having to try and make huge adjustments to cope with online play as it's now over 2 years since I played live. Sad. Now that the casinos are back open, I wasn't sure if I even wanted to go back but your blog has actually reminded me about the positives of playing live. Not that I would want to go back to it to anywhere near the same degree as I used to, but once in a while. I also like the idea of community games that you mentioned, not sure how to get involved with those but it sounds like fun. There seems to be a good bunch of people on here.

Anyway, I noticed that you have taken to doing a few disappearing acts, which is understandable because life has a habit of getting in the way. Life is getting in the way for me too at the moment. However, I was quite disappointed when I got to July this year and there were no further updates, so if you could make a reappearance sometime soon, that would be great.

Your blog has also inspired me to set a profit and ITM% goal by the end of the year, which is probably a good thing. Although, like you I only want to play when I feel like it, so it will be dependent on circumstances too, to a degree. I'll have a think and make a note of it in my blog, so I don't forget. I have some memory issues which is why I've forgotten most of the things I was going to respond to from things you mentioned and i'm damned if i'm going back through 29 pages to find them!

I do remember this though. You were describing a hand and the end result was that your ego caused you to make a bad call. I think one of the most important lessons that any poker player can learn, is that there is no place for ego in poker. Hard as it is to remove it, it is nearly always detrimental to your game. I don't think anyone can remove it completely and permanently, but I do believe it makes a difference. Particularly when you avoid the scenario that just because you were the original aggressor, you feel the need to follow it through, even though there are times you know it's going to end badly.

Oh and there was something about a bounty game where you had JJ early in the game with a 10k stack and UTG opened, another 3 bet to 750 or so and you decided to fold. The main reason i'm folding there 9/10 is because you don't complete the action. If you did then you could possibly call and see what happens but with such a small investment so early on, you don't want to go to war with JJ (probably better off with 45s).

GL if you come back and if you don't, well you won't see this anyway 😂

Wow so yeah I've been away a long time! I cannot believe I never read this and I am sorry for disappearing for so long. It's these sorts of posts that used to make poker so worthwhile to me. To get feedback, to engage with community and share ideas, to feel good about what you did even though it didn't work out that time.

I am very much the person you describe. I rely a lot more on gut and instinct than math's and stats and you are right that this has served me much better live than online. Although I haven't been a losing player online since I started at Unibet my biggest cashes have come live and I'd say my cash per tournament strike rate is above average.

Life really has hit me hard. Since this blog started going quieter I have had a baby, bought a house, had 2 promotions at work and moved offices so the last year at least there seems to have been no time to relax.

Thank you so much for this post and I'm really glad you enjoyed the blog. I hope you are still around to read the reply.

Welcome back @MetalWolf 🙂

I think you're now officially the one to resurrect a blog the most times in the history of the community 🤣

Haha is there a badge to go with that? 😁

Thanks for the welcome back. Just some flips for me today but I want to be all over the upcoming SS!

Bet you thought I'd killed the blog again didn't you? 😉

I'm still here and played a bit of the series but didn't pull up any trees. In fact I'm currently running at a loss for the year but no bother - lots of play left in me. I plan to do some small grinds before end of Jan and hopefully have turned that around.

So the intention was to update this a lot sooner and play more games through Feb. Unfortunately I had a car crash and I am just about in a position now where I feel a bit more able to do anything other than think about pain!

I was planning to show up in Nottingham and meet some of you at Dusk til Dawn. And I did make it Nottingham. Unfortunately I was confined mainly to the hotel as I just wasn’t up for moving around too much.

Hopefully better luck lies ahead both on and off the table.

When advised to take a break this could be the wrong sort! 😂

Better luck soon.🍀
